The Princess Agents Want a Divorce

Chapter 2 Arriving in Another World

The sound of hooves grew closer, and the lead rider, Crimson Soul, reined in his horse and stopped at the edge of the cliff.

She turned to look at the man in black robes riding a tall horse, wearing a cold, ghostly mask.

Master, Miss Gu's carriage fell from here. Should I go and rescue her? After all, she is engaged to you and will be the future Princess Consort of Li.

After a long while, a cold yet magnetic voice finally rang out.

Crimson Soul, how come I didn't know you'd become so chivalrous? Do you think I would let someone be hunted down if I wanted to save her?

The princess? Ha! She's nothing but a dispensable pawn. If she's lucky enough to return to the general's mansion alive, then I'll allow her to be this pawn. But if she's unlucky, then don't blame me for leaving her to die.

What kind of person is the owner of this voice? He must be someone who has been in a high position for a long time, otherwise he wouldn't have such a strong aura. You can tell just from his voice how domineering he must be!

Gu Lingxi listened quietly without making a sound for help. Without fully understanding the situation, as a former assassin and now a special agent, she would never do anything detrimental to herself when she was vulnerable and defenseless. Even though she was seriously injured, her professional ethics compelled her to remain absolutely calm in this situation.

As the sound of hooves faded into the distance, Gu Lingxi was speechless. What was going on? Did they just come and go in a hurry, showing no intention of coming down to rescue anyone, and even spouting a bunch of nonsensical sarcastic remarks from above? And speaking of which, what's with this "I"? And this "Princess"? Is this some kind of movie scene?

After a while, some more sounds came from not far away.

Listening closely, it was a man's hoarse voice, he must have been calling for a long time! "Xi'er, Xi'er, where are you? You can't be hurt!" His voice was filled with endless anxiety and a sob.

There were faint sounds of several people calling out from behind: "Second Miss, Second Miss, where are you?"

Could it be that her comrades have come to rescue her? Calling for Xi'er is not wrong, but what is this second young lady up to?

Just as she was puzzled, a man with a rough voice shouted in alarm, "Young master, young master, the second young lady is here, come quickly!" Hearing the voice, the scattered crowd rushed over!

"Xi'er, Xi'er," Gu Yunyang's voice trembled. His tense heart finally relaxed when he saw Gu Lingxi lying on the ground with her eyes open. He knew that his Xi'er was lucky and could not die so easily! The moment he saw Xi'er fall off the cliff, his heart almost stopped beating!

His younger sister was the person he cherished most in his heart. When he learned that his sister's carriage had fallen into the Cliff of Heartlessness, he almost lost his composure and jumped down with Xi'er. Only after the strong resistance and persuasion of the guards did he regain his senses.

Without further thought, Gu Yunyang rushed over and caught Gu Lingxi, who was lying on the ground unable to move. He held her tightly in his arms, his eyes filled with tenderness and doting affection that warmed people's hearts!

Overjoyed at finding her again, he murmured, "Thank goodness, you're alive, Xi'er! I was so scared, so scared! I thought I'd never see you again. If anything had happened to you, how could I face Father and Mother?"

Hearing this incessant chatter, Gu Lingxi was stunned. What? What's going on? Why are you dressed so strangely? And what you're saying is so nonsensical. "Stop, stop, stop!" "Handsome, who are you? You're hugging me so tightly, I'm almost strangling me! Are you trying to take advantage of me? Also, let go of my hand, or you'll regret it." As soon as the words left her lips, Lingxi froze. The cold tone combined with that soft, sweet voice was incredibly strange and incongruous. This doesn't sound like her own voice, does it? It sounds like a child's affected, childish voice.

"No way!" Gu Lingxi was horrified! Her eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at the circle of people dressed in ancient costumes surrounding her. This... this couldn't be what she was thinking, could it? Had she been resurrected or simply time-traveled?

My God! She was killed in the cruise ship explosion, and her soul transmigrated into this little girl's body. The more Ling Xi thought about it, the uglier her face became. Damn it, is the heavens playing a trick on me?!

Holding her, Gu Yunyang listened to Gu Lingxi's cold tone and looked at him with unfamiliar eyes. For a moment, he almost thought that this was not his sister.

After spending over a decade together, how could he not recognize his sister's face and voice? "Sister, what's wrong? I'm your older brother! How are you?"

Looking at Gu Lingxi's head injury, Gu Yunyang said with both self-blame and heartache, "It's all my fault for being useless and failing to protect you. It's a miracle you survived falling from such a high cliff. Could you have damaged your head? When we get home, I'll have the best doctor in Kyoto take a look at you!"

Gu Lingxi wanted to say something more, but a wave of dizziness hit her and she was plunged into darkness.

Seeing his younger sister faint again, Gu Yunyang felt a pang of self-reproach. It was all his fault for not being strong enough to protect her, which gave others an opportunity to take advantage of her. He thought to himself, "If Mother knew how badly you were injured, I don't know how heartbroken she would be." He picked up the unconscious Gu Lingxi and carried her toward the slowly approaching carriage.

Inside the carriage, a slight ripple in the air was followed by the appearance of a dark figure, indicating that his bodyguards had arrived.

Gu Yunyang withdrew his gaze from his sister and gently raised his head to look at the person who had come.

Yan Yi bowed and knelt before Gu Yunyang, waiting for his master to ask him questions. He was Gu Yunyang's bodyguard, and he also had a younger brother, Yan Er, who was Gu Yunyang's personal attendant. The three of them grew up together and were as close as brothers.

Looking at the newcomer, Gu Yunyang asked in a cold voice, "How's the investigation going? Are there any survivors?"

"Reporting to Master, there were no survivors. The other party's teeth all had poison sacs, and the captured men all died by poisoning. There were no obvious marks on their bodies! However, judging from their martial arts routines and well-trained skills, they were clearly not just simple robbers! They were more likely assassins or death squads!"

Gu Yunyang clenched his fists tightly, the veins bulging as he spoke of his rage. How many times had this happened already? For two years since the Emperor's decree of marriage, countless people had tried to kill Xi'er! Gu Yunyang gritted his teeth in hatred. Even if he knew who wanted Xi'er dead, he lacked evidence and the power and influence to do anything about it. He could only passively protect them! Sighing softly, Gu Yunyang waved his hand helplessly, signaling Yan Yi to leave.

Seeing his master's signal, Yan Yi said nothing more and slipped away. With Xi'er still unconscious, Gu Yunyang didn't want to linger. Qinglong Temple was definitely out of the question; there might be some ambush there. The safest course of action now was to return to the General's Mansion as quickly as possible.

He then instructed Yan Yi outside the carriage, "Let's go! Back to the city. Drive carefully and take good care of Miss!" Yan Yi nodded in agreement upon hearing the young master's instructions, and then said to the others, "Back to the city, protect the young master and the second young lady!" The guards responded in unison, and the group did not linger, heading towards the capital in a grand procession.
