High-class maid

Chapter 9 Song Wenyang

“My dear child, how much money could it cost to buy clothes? I know you feel sorry for your father and me, and I feel sorry for you too. If I had more money, I would like to take you to the second floor to take a look,” Wang said comfortingly.

Shen Xing'er thought for a moment and decided that she should comply. She also wanted to see what the clothes from Hua Mian Ge were like, and whether they were really as Shan Tao and the others said, so that she wouldn't run into someone else wearing the same style.

Although Shen Xing'er was sensible, she was still a girl who loved beauty at heart, so she hesitated for a moment before nodding in agreement.

As soon as the mother and daughter entered, a waiter came to greet them. He didn't treat them differently because they were dressed in ordinary clothes, which showed that he was well-trained.

"Madam and Miss, welcome to Huamian Pavilion. May I ask which of you would like to buy clothes? Our first floor has ready-made clothes and fabrics. If you don't find anything you like on the first floor, you can go up to the second floor."

"Well, let's take a look on the first floor first. What's on the second floor?" Wang said.

"The fabrics on the second floor are better, but there are no finished products. We need an embroiderer to take our measurements and make them to order. On the third floor, there are artists who design patterns for you to choose from," the shop assistant explained skillfully.

"it is good."

"Alright, just let me know if you need anything." The waiter then went to the door to greet the customer.

The mother and daughter strolled around, and the dresses on the first floor dazzled them.

Madam Wang picked out a pink dress and a green dress for Shen Xing'er to wear at home.

Shen Xing'er said with heartache over the money, "Mother, one set is enough. I only stay at home for three days a month, so I won't wear it many times."

"How can that be? Your clothes are all a bit too small. Last year, we bought a yard and a carriage, so we didn't buy you any clothes. These two sets will do."

"Mom, one set is enough." Shen Xing'er still wanted to try.

"Alright, wear the pink one with the beaded hair ornament that the First Madam gave you, and wear the green one with the butterfly hair accessory I bought last time. Waiter, put these two on."

Before Shen Xing'er could reply, Wang had the waiter pack up the two sets of clothes.

Shen Xing'er's nose tingled with emotion. So this was what it felt like to be loved by her mother? Before transmigrating into the book, she had never experienced this feeling and hadn't done anything about it. Why not use her monthly allowance to buy her mother a dress too?

Shen Xing'er pulled Wang Shi along and browsed the first floor, finally choosing a light pink dress.

Because of Wang's fair skin and the fact that she didn't have to do dirty or strenuous work at the Minister's residence, she took very good care of herself. After putting on this new outfit, she looked even more like someone's lady.

Shen Xing'er paid the money before Wang Shi could, and although it cost her a month's allowance, she felt a great sense of accomplishment.

Wang, on the other hand, kept muttering to herself, feeling sorry for him.

"You silly child, why don't you keep your monthly allowance for yourself? Why buy me such an expensive dress? Your parents already feel sorry for you because you work hard at home, and now you want to spend your monthly allowance to buy this dress."

"Mom, what do you know? We'd rather eat one perfect peach than a whole basket of rotten apricots. We'd rather buy just one expensive piece of clothing than a bunch of cheap, low-quality items from street vendors."

"You're willing to buy me such expensive clothes, but you won't let your daughter buy you any?" Shen Xing'er retorted logically.

"Alright, alright, you're absolutely right. My Xing'er has grown up and will listen to you." Madam Wang said affectionately, gently pinching Shen Xing'er's nose.

The mother and daughter left Huamian Pavilion carrying large and small bags. Although the clothes at Huamian Pavilion were a bit pricey, there was still a constant stream of people going there to buy them.

It seems that no matter the era, women's money is the easiest to earn.

Shen Xing'er and Wang went to Qianshan Su to buy pastries again, but this time they arrived too late and failed to buy Shen Xing'er's favorite osmanthus cake.

However, Shen Xing'er heard that the new jujube cake on the market was good, so she bought it to try at home.

Then the mother and daughter went to "Su Ji Lamb Soup". It was okay in the summer, there weren't too many people drinking soup. I heard that you have to queue in the winter.

“Let’s splurge a little today, mother and daughter. We’re buying clothes and having mutton soup. It’s been four years since I last came to the street with you after you came into the manor. Let’s shop to our hearts’ content today,” Wang said, her eyes red.

Shen Xing'er's eyes also uncontrollably reddened; perhaps the original owner of this body sensed it in some unseen way! Shen Xing'er said.

"Mom, we'll come to town every time we have a holiday. Just don't worry about me spending money, Dad. I'm a big spender!" Shen Xing'er teased her mother.

Wang laughed, shook her head, and said, "I really can't do anything with you."

After the mother and daughter finished their meal, the weather seemed to sense it; a strong wind picked up, threatening rain. Summer weather is so unpredictable.

Shen Xing'er said, "Mother, I think it's going to rain again. We've had enough shopping today, let's hurry home."

Wang nodded, paid the money, and led Shen Xing'er away. The two walked in such a hurry that they forgot their clothes, leaving them forlornly on the bench.

After the two arrived home, Wang suddenly exclaimed, "We were so focused on getting home that we forgot our clothes at the mutton restaurant. Please go get them."

"Mother, let me go get it. You can't run as fast as me. It's about to rain. Let your daughter go." After saying that, Shen Xing'er ran out of the house without waiting for Wang Shi's reply.

Fortunately, the two streets were not far apart. When Shen Xing'er arrived, it hadn't rained yet. The place where she and her mother had been sitting was now occupied by a young man.

The boy looked to be about fifteen or sixteen years old. His open sitting posture proved that he was not short at all. His sword-like eyebrows and bright eyes made him look very serious, like a martial artist. However, his fair skin was a bit incongruous, making people think that he was deliberately pretending to be cold.

"Hello big brother, do you see these bags here? They contain the clothes I bought," Shen Xing'er asked the boy in front of her after she had steadied herself.

"Hmm." The boy looked up at Shen Xing'er and pointed to the area under the bench opposite him. Then he lowered his head again and continued reading his book.

Pshaw, what's with the pretense of being aloof? If you call him aloof, he was afraid someone would take his clothes, so he put them under the bench and waited for them even though it was about to rain. If you call him enthusiastic, he just replied with an "um" and didn't say anything more.

Shen Xing'er thought to herself, but showed no sign of it on her face. She said, "Thank you, big brother. You're such a kind person. Were you waiting here for me on purpose?"

"Okay." The boy replied. After seeing Shen Xing'er pick up the clothes, he stood up and said, "Now that you have the clothes, hurry back."

The boy doesn't look tall when he's sitting, but he's so tall when he stands up! Shen Xing'er only reaches his chest at most.

As the boy finished speaking, thunder suddenly rumbled in the sky, followed by raindrops the size of mung beans falling from the heavens, one after another, as if in a race.

Shen Xing'er said thank you and prepared to run home when something bumped into her. Turning around, she saw that it was the boy who had given her an umbrella.

"Thank you for your kindness, big brother, but you can keep the umbrella. I can run fast, it won't be a problem," Shen Xing'er politely declined.

"It's alright, my house is right next door, you can take it." The boy said, and before she could refuse, he turned to leave.

Shen Xing'er couldn't care less about anything else at this moment, and shouted at him, "What's your name?"

"Song Wenyang".
