High-class maid

Chapter 12 The Bad Things Go Wrong

Acting? You can act, but so can I, a good citizen of the 21st century.

Shen Xing'er then reddened her eyes and said, "Xiyun, I regretted what I said that day. You were the first friend I made after entering the manor. No one can compare to this friendship. Since you took the initiative to come to me, I have no reason to be pretentious."

"Yes, yes, you two stop crying. Come on, eat and drink. This plum wine isn't very strong, so you won't get drunk. Let's eat and drink together. From now on, we're best friends!" Chunyun said, urging the two to sit down.

"Sister Chunyun, Shantao doesn't know I'm here yet. Could you pass on a message to her? I just happen to have a few words with Xiyun." Shen Xing'er used this excuse to send Chunyun away.

"Alright, alright, as long as you're willing to talk to Xiyun properly, I'm willing to run errands for you as many times as I want." Chunyun said and immediately went out.

Xiyun poured Shen Xing'er a glass of plum wine, but they had actually put laxatives at the bottom of the glass. They wanted to make Shen Xing'er have diarrhea so they could slip the laxatives into the water while she was in a panic.

If the old lady was given a laxative and it was discovered that Shen Xing'er had been having diarrhea, and if Shen Xing'er denied drinking, it would be considered a lack of supervision; if Shen Xing'er admitted to drinking, the crime would be even greater. Therefore, neither of them was afraid of anything.

Having read the original novel, Shen Xing'er naturally knew what was in the wine glass.

She didn't immediately drink the wine on the table, but instead asked Xiyun, "Xiyun, do you still have the pearl hairpin I gave you? I saw you throw it away last time, is that true? Are you really willing to reconcile with me?"

Xiyun visibly panicked for a moment, "Yes, yes, if you don't believe me, I'll go get it and show you."

While Xiyun was looking for the pearl hairpin, Shen Xing'er poured the wine in her cup out the window and quickly poured herself a new cup of wine.

After Xiyun and Chunyun returned, the three of them ate and drank together, making quite a lively scene.

After the three of them had eaten and drunk their fill, Xiyun let out a burp and said to Shen Xing'er, "Sister Xing'er, if you ask me, you shouldn't go to work this afternoon. You're so drunk, can you handle it? Don't hold Shan Tao back."

"It's alright, Sister Xiyun. Although this is my first time drinking in the manor, I've had it many times at home. This plum wine is just like fruit juice to me; it won't cause any problems."

"I don't know if it's because I drank too much, but my stomach hurts a bit. I have to go to the toilet now." Shen Xing'er said and ran off.

After Shen Xing'er left, Xiyun and Chunyun exchanged a smile, as if to say: the plan has succeeded.

Fifteen minutes later, Chunyun pretended to come to the tea room to see Shen Xing'er. Shen Xing'er said, "Sister, you've come at the right time. Could you add some fuel to the fire for me? My stomach hurts again." Then she ran out.

Chunyun happily entered the tea room, only to find that Shantao was still there, indicating that she wouldn't be able to administer the laxative anytime soon.

Shen Xing'er, however, did not go to the toilet. Instead, she went to the small kitchen and called to Granny Zhou, "Auntie, could you please add some firewood to the tea room? My stomach hurts."

"Okay, I'll go after I've chopped the vegetables," Granny Zhou readily agreed.

Shen Xing'er ran to the tea room again and called Shan Tao out, ostensibly to ask Shan Tao to help her get her medicine, but in reality, she and Shan Tao were hiding in a corner the whole time.

Everything is ready, just waiting to see the dogs fight. I'm sorry, Granny Zhou, I schemed against you.

Chunyun, who was in the tea room, saw that Shantao had also left. She took out the prepared laxative packet and was about to put it into the kettle when Zhou Mama pushed the door open and entered. Chunyun was so frightened that she dropped the packet of medicine in her hand.

"What are you doing!" Granny Zhou exclaimed in surprise.

"I, I, I didn't do anything, I was just adding firewood, adding firewood." Chunyun said as she squatted down, and even tried to throw the medicine packet into the fire.

Granny Zhou grabbed Chunyun's hand with lightning speed. "Tell me, what are you doing? What are you trying to put in the kettle? Are you trying to harm the old lady?"

"I, I, I didn't mean to, Xiyun, yes, it was Xiyun, she forced me to do it." Chunyun burst into tears after saying that.

Shan Tao and Shen Xing'er returned together. Shen Xing'er looked at Chun Yun and said, "Chun Yun, I thought you were just going to give me laxatives, but I didn't expect you to give the old lady laxatives too. You are so cruel."

Granny Zhou glanced at Chunyun sitting on the ground and said, "This matter is too big for me to decide. Let's go see the old lady."

"No, I don't want to! I'll be dead if I see the old lady! Granny Zhou, please have pity on me! I've been with you since I was eight years old. I already consider myself your apprentice. Please don't kill me!"

Chunyun said, crying with snot and tears streaming down her face.

Shan Tao, with her fiery temper, couldn't tolerate anything and rebuked Chun Yun.

"How dare you say that? How could you be so malicious? Giving Xing'er laxatives is bad enough, but you even gave the old lady laxatives too!"

What did the old lady do to you again? Why do you go to so much trouble for her? Don't tell me you're Zhou Mama's apprentice; in the end, are you going to drag Zhou Mama down with you?

Chunyun shut up as expected and obediently followed Granny Zhou into the old lady's courtyard. Before leaving, Granny Zhou glanced at Shen Xing'er, her eyes filled with disappointment, shock, and helplessness.

Shen Xing'er didn't have time to explain anything and quickly followed after her. After all, this matter involved her, and Granny Zhou was also innocently dragged into it, so of course she couldn't hide behind.

The group stood at the door waiting for the old lady to announce their arrival. This was the first time in several years that a maid had caused trouble in front of the old lady.

After a while, a voice came from inside the door, "Come in." A third-class maid lifted the curtain, and the group went inside.

"What happened to you lot that you need to trouble the old lady to make decisions for you? Granny Zhou, they are young and ignorant, and you are ignorant too?" asked the head maid, Danxue.

Shen Xing'er secretly glanced up at the old lady, only to see the noble old lady in front of her.

She was dressed in a dark green outfit, with pearls on her shoes. The room was filled with some kind of incense, which smelled very comforting. She held a string of Buddhist prayer beads in her hand, looked at them with her mouth closed, and seemed like Guanyin, exuding an aura of authority without anger.

"Replying to your question, Madam, something shameful has happened in my small kitchen. It's a serious matter, and I'm at a loss for what to do, so I've come to ask for your advice," Zhou Mama replied, kneeling.

When Shen Xing'er and the others saw that Granny Zhou had knelt down, they quickly followed suit, as if they would be punished if they knelt down late.

"Oh? You've always known how to behave. Since you've come to bother me, then you must really have something to say. Except for Danxue and the others, all the other maids may leave."

After the old lady finished speaking, the second-class maidservant in the room withdrew and closed the door behind her.

"Tell me, what's making you so flustered?" the old woman asked, turning the prayer beads in her hand.
