Chapter Twenty-Two: Your Majesty, Please Reconsider

Why isn't Ling'er speaking? Is she shy?

"You..." Leng Yuling was about to say these three words, but before she could finish, she glanced at the many concubines present and shut her mouth, forcibly changing it to a gentle "Your Majesty should learn to treat your concubines equally."

But at that moment, a very interesting image and a sentence that was inherently funny suddenly popped into her mind.

"Equal distribution of favors?" Mo Zhen sat down next to Leng Yuling, glanced at her, and said, "Ling'er is quite considerate of me."

Leng Yuling subconsciously looked up at Mo Zhen, her eyes holding no other meaning; it seemed she was simply glancing at her with genuine innocence.

After receiving her gaze, Mo Zhen simply stared at her without saying a word, but instead curled the corners of his lips, his eyes gentle and ambiguous.

What they didn't know was that after seeing how gentle Mo Zhen was with Leng Yuling, the concubines in the palace were even more curious about what virtues Leng Yuling possessed to receive Mo Zhen's favor and special treatment.

After seeing Mo Zhen and Leng Yuling exchange glances, the concubines suggested leaving.

When one person suggested leaving, everyone else said they had other things to do and went back first. In reality, they just didn't want to disturb Mo Zhen and Leng Yuling's time together.

After they left, Leng Yuling's face immediately darkened. Actually, she had been very easy to talk to, but she had already given Mo Zhen enough face in front of outsiders.

"What's wrong? You don't seem happy to see me?" Mo Zhen asked, looking at Leng Yuling's less-than-pleasant expression.

Leng Yuling nodded almost reflexively, but the answer in her heart was no. In fact, because of Mo Zhen's appearance, it was impossible for her to dislike him.

"I didn't sleep well last night and was woken up early this morning. Do as you please, I'm going to take a nap." Leng Yuling didn't answer Mo Zhen's question. She didn't know if the emperor usually left court this early; she only knew that she was very sleepy.

"Your Majesty, you spoil the Empress too much. You can't keep indulging her like this. What will happen if she dominates the harem?" Rong Mama whispered in Mo Zhen's ear after Leng Yuling went back to rest.

Since Mo Zhen was a child, Rong Momo had been by his side taking care of him and serving him. Therefore, he always respected Rong Momo very much. It was also because Rong Momo was his mother's dowry maid. In order to serve the mother and son, she never left the palace and never married.

Not hearing Mo Zhen's reply, Rong Momo continued, "I know the Empress saved your life, but even if she is a good doctor, she may not be a good Empress. Your Majesty, please think it over."

Rong Momo continued to speak earnestly and patiently.

Upon hearing this, Mo Zhen finally moved his eyes, but instead of looking at Rong Momo, he looked towards the inner room where Leng Yuling was resting.

He squinted, as if he was thinking about something, but upon closer inspection, it was impossible to tell what he was thinking.
