Quick Transmigration: The Beautiful Host Wants to Have Both Love and Career
Chapter 423 The Love and Career of the Beautiful Immortal Venerable 6
I went through so much trouble to find it, and I kept it right here in this secret room. How could it just vanish into thin air!
"And what about me..."
Just as another elder was about to begin complaining, suddenly, "Achoo!" he sneezed loudly without warning, and his body jolted violently.
"Ah!"
Almost simultaneously, another elder sneezed, and the two looked at each other, both with puzzled expressions.
"Strange, why did I suddenly sneeze? Could someone be talking about us behind our backs?"
Si Zhan, who sneezed first, rubbed his nose and said with a suspicious look on his face.
Before they could figure it out, "Achoo! Achoo!"
The remaining elders also sneezed one after another, the sneezing echoing throughout the council hall, making the scene somewhat comical for a moment.
On a winding path far from the Qingyun Sect, a carriage leisurely moved forward.
Sui Si, along with Ran Cang and the little fox, embarked on a wondrous journey that seemed to be heading to the competition venue, but was actually more like a sightseeing trip.
The carriage moved slowly, its wheels crunching over small pebbles, producing a crisp, melodious sound that mingled with the babbling brook beside the road, creating a beautiful natural symphony.
Sui Si sat comfortably in the carriage, occasionally lifting the curtain to admire the beautiful scenery along the way.
Wildflowers bloom freely in the mountains, displaying a riot of colors. A gentle breeze blows, and the flowers sway softly, releasing a rich fragrance that soothes the soul.
"I haven't had such a pleasant day in a long time."
Sui Si smiled slightly and sighed softly, his face full of enjoyment.
Ran Cang was having a great time playing with the little fox in the carriage.
The little fox's wounds had healed, and its fur was smooth and shiny, like the finest silk.
It hopped and jumped around Ran Cang, sometimes rubbing its head against Ran Cang's palm, sometimes tugging at the corner of Ran Cang's clothes, making Ran Cang giggle.
"You little rascal, all you do is be naughty!"
Ran Cang smiled and playfully scolded him, but her eyes were full of doting affection.
She gently stroked the little fox's head. The little fox squinted its eyes, looking quite content, and occasionally let out a "woof woof" sound, as if responding to Ran Cang.
As Sui Si watched the scene of the man and the fox playing together, the corners of his mouth unconsciously turned up, revealing a gentle smile.
He thought:
These days are really nice, comfortable and carefree. We can't let any troublemakers come along and disturb this peace.
However, fate always seems to love playing tricks. Sui Si's good luck was like a gust of wind, gone as soon as it came.
And then, bad luck quietly descended.
The once clear sky suddenly became covered with dark clouds, the thick clouds like a huge black curtain, completely blocking out the sunlight.
A fierce wind swept in, causing the roadside trees to bend and sway, their branches rustling as if groaning in pain.
Immediately afterwards, large raindrops began to pelt down, hitting the roof of the carriage with a dull thud.
"This darn weather, it changes so suddenly!"
Sui Si frowned, a hint of displeasure on his face.
He quickly drew the curtains and turned to Ran Cang, saying:
"Ayu, close the window properly, be careful not to get wet in the rain."
Ran Cang also stopped smiling, looking at the torrential rain outside the window with a worried expression, and replied:
"Yes, Master."
"This rain came so suddenly, are we going to be stuck here?"
As she spoke, she quickly got up and tightly closed the car window. Rainwater slid down the window sill, hitting the car's wood and blurring the view outside.
The little fox seemed to be frightened by the sudden downpour.
It huddled trembling in Ran Cang's arms, its head buried tightly in Ran Cang's embrace, only its terrified eyes showing, occasionally letting out a few weak cries.
Ran Cang gently patted the little fox's back and softly comforted it:
"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, I'm here."
Sui Si sighed helplessly, looking at the torrential rain outside the car, inwardly groaning:
This luck really does disappear in an instant; it seems this trip is going to encounter some setbacks.
In that sudden storm, Sui Si and Ran Cang's carriage struggled to move forward on the muddy road.
The rain poured down, blurring the view. A howling wind swept across the area, causing the roadside trees to bend and creak painfully, as if telling the story of the ravages of the severe weather.
"Master, the rain is so heavy that we can't even see the road. What should we do?"
Ran Cang held the trembling little fox tightly in his arms and anxiously looked out the window.
Rainwater slid down the window frame, hitting the glass with a "pitter-patter" sound that masked the rumbling of the carriage.
The little fox trembled even more violently in her arms, snuggling deeper into her embrace, seeking warmth and shelter.
Sui Si frowned, his gaze piercing through the rain as he tried to make out the road ahead.
He gripped the reins tightly, trying to calm the frightened horse, but it continued to paw at the ground and breathe heavily.
"Don't worry, Ayu."
He raised his voice so that Ran Cang could hear him clearly amidst the howling wind and rain.
"The competition venue is just ahead at the foot of the mountain. There should be an inn nearby. Let's go there to avoid the rain."
His voice was steady, but it sounded somewhat weak in the howling wind and rain.
The carriage struggled through the wind and rain for a while longer before finally, Sui Si saw faint lights by the roadside.
"Look, there's an inn up ahead!"
He said with a sigh of relief, his voice tinged with joy.
Ran Cang looked in the direction he pointed, a glimmer of hope flashing in his eyes.
When they finally arrived at the inn, both of them were soaked to the bone, their clothes clinging to their bodies, and a chill ran through them.
After settling the horses, Sui Si and Ran Cang hurriedly entered the inn.
The inn was filled with a damp atmosphere, and the dim lights flickered in the wind and rain. The guests sat around the stove, talking in hushed tones, their faces showing the weariness of their journey.
Sui Si and Ran Cang each went back to their rooms to change into dry clothes, and then went down to the lobby to get something to eat and ward off the chill.
However, before they could even sit down, a commotion arose from the entrance of the inn.
"You can't take it away! It's innocent!"
A young woman's voice, choked with sobs, sounded particularly jarring amidst the cacophony of rain.
The voice was filled with despair and helplessness, instantly drawing everyone's attention.
Sui Si and Ran Cang turned their heads curiously and saw several men dressed in black pulling at a young woman.
The woman was clutching a cage covered with a black cloth tightly in her arms, her face filled with terror and anger.
Her hair was disheveled and clung to her face, and rainwater streamed down her cheeks, making it impossible to tell whether it was rain or tears.
"We caught this in the mountains, so it's our responsibility to deal with it. Mind your own business!"
One of the men in black said menacingly and reached out to snatch the cage from the woman's hand.
His eyes were fierce, and his face showed a hint of impatience.
"No!"
The woman struggled desperately, tears welling up in her eyes.
Her hands gripped the cage tightly, her knuckles turning white from the force, and her body twisted and turned, trying to break free from the man in black's pull.
Seeing this, Sui Si frowned slightly and stood up.
"How dare you bully a woman like this in broad daylight?"
His voice was deep yet authoritative, echoing throughout the hall.
The sound seemed to carry an invisible force, instantly silencing the previously noisy lobby.
The men in black turned around when they heard the sound.
Seeing Sui Si's extraordinary appearance, they were slightly taken aback, but quickly came to their senses.
"Who are you? Mind your own business, this is none of your concern!"
The man in the lead said with a sneer, a hint of disdain in his eyes.
He sized up Sui Si, seemingly assessing whether the person in front of him posed a threat to them.
