The first thing Chen Ming needs to do is choose a suitable engine.

Although he had played many games in his previous life, he knew nothing about game development.

However, this does not prevent him from using his understanding of future game development trends to choose the engine that best suits him.

Chen Ming sat in front of the computer, browsing through introductions to various game engines, muttering to himself.

"Unreal Engine? It's powerful, but too difficult to learn... CryEngine?"

"The visual effects are top-notch, but unfortunately the hardware requirements are too high..."

He rubbed his temples and continued browsing the web: "Cocos2d-x? A lightweight engine, suitable for developing mobile games, but my goal is PC games..."

Suddenly, his gaze fell on the Unity3D introduction page, and his eyes lit up.

"Unity3D! It's easy to use, powerful enough, and will become one of the mainstream engines in the next few years. That's it!"

Having chosen an engine, the next step is learning and practicing.

Fortunately, Chen Ming was a person with extremely strong learning ability before his rebirth, and coupled with his understanding of future game development trends, he could learn with twice the result with half the effort.

He spent his days frantically learning how to use the Unity3D engine, and his nights conceiving his first game.

Chen Ming decided to start with a simple 2D game, partly to practice and partly to gain experience as quickly as possible.

The subject he chose was a casual game called Flappy Bird. This game was once incredibly popular in his previous life, and its simple gameplay and frustrating difficulty kept countless players hooked.

Chen Ming believes that with his understanding of the game, he will be able to perfectly replicate it, or even do it better.

And so, Chen Ming began his game development journey.

He first mastered the core gameplay, which involves controlling the bird's flight and dodging obstacles.

Next, he began designing the game's visuals and sound effects.

To make the game more appealing, Chen Ming specifically used some pixel-style materials and created some simple animation effects himself.

As for the sound effects, Chen Ming chose some free sound effect materials online and did some simple editing and processing.

After several days of hard work, the prototype of the game was finally completed.

Chen Ming couldn't wait to click the run button. Looking at the clumsy little bird flapping its wings on the screen, a happy smile appeared on his face.

"It's done!"

Chen Ming shouted excitedly, but before he could be happy for long, he discovered a serious problem.

This little bird... it... no! it! can't fly!

It flapped its wings in vain, swaying in place like a drunkard, showing no intention of flying upwards.

"what happened?"

Chen Ming rubbed his eyes in disbelief, wondering if he was seeing things.

He clicked the mouse again, trying to make the bird take off, but the result was still disappointing; the bird remained hovering in place.

"damn it!"

Chen Ming couldn't help but swear.

He scratched his head in frustration, feeling like a sculptor about to complete a masterpiece only to find that the sculpture's nose was crooked.

He began to carefully examine the code, line by line, trying to find out exactly where the problem lay.

Time passed by, and only the sound of keyboard typing and Chen Ming's occasional sighs remained in the room.

The sky outside the window gradually darkened, and the room became increasingly dim.

Chen Ming rubbed his sore eyes, feeling dizzy and lightheaded.

He got up, walked to the window, opened it, and let the cold wind blow in, trying to clear his head.

Taking a deep breath, Chen Ming returned to his computer and continued checking the code.

Suddenly, his eyes lit up as he discovered a small error hidden deep within the code.

"So this is where I am!"

Chen Ming muttered excitedly to himself. He quickly modified the code and then clicked the run button again.

This time, the little bird finally took flight! It flapped its wings merrily on the screen, nimbly dodging the oncoming green pipes.

"Yes!" Chen Ming clenched his fist and shouted excitedly.

He felt all his fatigue vanish, replaced by a tremendous sense of accomplishment.

Seeing the little bird finally able to fly freely, Chen Ming finally felt happy.

Over the next few days, Chen Ming continued to refine the game, adding features such as a scoring system, a game over screen, and background music. He also specially designed several different obstacles to increase the game's difficulty and fun.

To make the game more appealing, Chen Ming even downloaded some pixel-style materials online and created some simple animation effects himself.

He even used his broken English to post on some foreign gaming forums to promote his game.

"Hey guys, I've developed a super fun casual game called Flappy Bird. It's pixel-style, easy to pick up and play, but extremely difficult—guaranteed to keep you hooked! Download and try it out if you're interested!"

After the post was published, it quickly disappeared without a trace, and no one paid any attention to it.

Undeterred, Chen Ming continued to promote his game in various newspapers, hoping that people would try it out.

However, reality is harsh. Most people simply ignore his private messages, and the few who do reply are mostly just perfunctory polite remarks.

"Dude, your game looks too simple, and the levels are too difficult. Not many people play it."

"I'm sorry, my schedule has been too full lately, I haven't had time to try out your game."

"What's the name of your game? Flappy Bird? That's such a corny name, it's not appealing at all."

These replies left Chen Ming feeling extremely frustrated.

He began to doubt whether he had chosen the wrong direction, and whether he should abandon this game and develop some more mainstream games.

Just when Chen Ming was about to give up, he received an email from abroad.

The email's subject was: "Your game is amazing!"

Chen Ming excitedly opened the email and found that it was written to him by a foreign player named Mark.

"Hello, Chen Ming, my name is Mark, and I am a game enthusiast."

"I stumbled upon your post on the forum and downloaded and tried out your game, Flappy Bird."

"To be honest, I wasn't optimistic about this game at first because its graphics were too rudimentary."

"But when I actually started playing it, I was completely captivated by it."

"The gameplay of this game is very simple, but the difficulty is very high. I played it many times before I barely passed the first level."

"This agonizing feeling is so addictive, I feel like I'm completely hooked!"

"I believe this game will become a global phenomenon! Go Chen Ming!"
