Beast Taming Star Journey

Chapter 78 Fighting Side by Side, Defeating the Lord

The lord suddenly turned around, its massive tail sweeping across. Su Yao couldn't dodge in time and was violently sent flying. My heart tightened, and I hurriedly commanded the Crimson Flame Leopard to shield me, taking the lord's next attack head-on. The Crimson Flame Leopard let out a painful roar, a deep wound appearing on its body.

"Su Yao!"

I looked anxiously at Su Yao, who had been knocked away. She struggled to get up from the ground, a trickle of blood oozing from the corner of her mouth, but her eyes remained resolute.

"I'm fine!"

She wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and gripped her longsword tightly again. The lord's attacks grew increasingly fierce, and we gradually felt overwhelmed.

Its power was so great and its speed so astonishing that we could hardly find any chance to fight back.

"This can't go on like this!"

I thought to myself that I had to find a way to change the current situation. I carefully observed the lord's actions, trying to find a weakness in his defenses.

Its attacks, though powerful, were somewhat clumsy, seemingly due to its enormous size. Su Yao's speed and agility, however, were its nemesis!

"Su Yao, attack its legs!"

I shouted, "Use your speed to hold it back!"

Su Yao immediately understood what I meant. She flashed around to the side of the lord, and her long sword danced like a serpent, constantly attacking the lord's legs.

The lord's massive body made movement difficult, and for a moment, he was restrained by Su Yao.

I seized the opportunity and commanded the Crimson Leopard to launch a frontal attack, drawing the lord's attention.

The Crimson Leopard roared and spewed out a scorching flame, striking the lord's head directly.

The lord, burned by the flames, let out an angry roar. It swung its giant claws, trying to attack the Crimson Flame Leopard, but was forced back by Su Yao's longsword.

Our teamwork became increasingly seamless, and the lord gradually found himself at a disadvantage. Its attacks grew weaker, and its movements became increasingly sluggish.

Seeing my opportunity, I once again commanded the Crimson Leopard to launch an attack.

The Crimson Leopard was incredibly fast, instantly reaching the lord and its sharp claws dug deep into the lord's abdomen.

The lord let out a bloodcurdling scream, and its massive body crashed to the ground. We have finally defeated the beast horde lord!

I breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Su Yao beside me. A victorious smile also appeared on her face.

"we won!"

I said.

"Yeah, we won."

Su Yao nodded.

Just then, a voice came from afar: "You did a good job..."

The joy of victory surged through me like a tidal wave, but before I could even fully savor it, I heard a slightly sour voice say, "You did a good job..."

I turned my head and saw it was Master Wang. His expression was complicated, showing both appreciation for our successful killing of the lord and an undisguised mix of jealousy and embarrassment.

When the beast tide came before, he was the first to hide. Now that we have turned the tide, he naturally feels ashamed.

Perhaps trying to save face, the Beastmaster Wang casually patted his tamed beast, a snow-white ice wolf, and then walked gracefully toward the beast tide lord who was not yet completely dead.

"You beast, let me show you what I'm capable of!"

He roared and commanded the direwolves to attack. However, having witnessed the lord's power and their master's retreat, the direwolves now appeared timid and hesitant to advance.

The beast tamer's face grew increasingly grim. He kept urging the Ice Wolf on, even whipping it, but the Ice Wolf only whimpered softly and still dared not approach.

With great difficulty, under the coercion of the Beastmaster, the Ice Wolf finally took a step, but only symbolically scratched its lord before quickly retreating and hiding behind the Beastmaster, trembling with fear.

This weak attack was like a tickle to the already seriously injured lord.

Although the lord was seriously injured, its ferocity remained. Enraged by this, it swung its tail fiercely and swept towards the King Beastmaster.

The Beastmaster Wang couldn't dodge in time, cried out in alarm, and fell to the ground in a sorry state. If I hadn't been quick-witted and commanded the Crimson Flame Leopard to block the attack, he probably would have lost his life.

I couldn't help but shake my head. This guy is really suffering for the sake of saving face.

Just then, I felt Su Yao's body go limp beside me. I quickly supported her and then discovered that she had a deep wound on her arm that exposed the bone, and blood was gushing out continuously.

"Su Yao!"

I was extremely anxious and disregarded everything else. I pulled her into my arms, circulated my inner energy, and slowly channeled it into her body to heal her injuries.

Su Yao leaned against me, her face pale, but she forced a smile at me despite the pain. "Nong Yu, with you here, I'm not afraid of anything."

Her voice was soft, yet it flowed into my heart like a warm current. I felt her love, and my heart was filled with strength.

I gently stroked her hair and said softly, "It's alright, everything will be alright."

Although the beast tide lord has been killed, the beast tide has not completely receded, and the town has suffered considerable damage.

Mayor Zhang and General Li walked over, their faces filled with worry.

"Nong Yu, what should we do next?"

Mayor Zhang asked.

I took a deep breath and looked around at the ravaged town, the exhausted warriors, and the lurking beast tide in the distance... I felt a surge of pressure.

Repelling the beast tide and rebuilding our home is no easy task. Moreover, I accepted the invitation from the Beast Taming Academy to teach there.

Now that the town has been ravaged, should I stay and help everyone rebuild their homes? Just as I was pondering this, a messenger rushed over and handed me a letter.

When I opened it, it was a notice from the Beast Taming Academy, telling me to report to the academy tomorrow to prepare for the start of classes.

Tomorrow… I looked up at the sky; the sun was setting, and night was about to fall. I clutched the letter tightly in my hand, my heart filled with mixed emotions.

The next morning, I stepped into the gates of the Beast Taming Academy.

I took a deep breath, pushed open the classroom door, and saw the various expressions on the students' faces below the stage, as well as the scrutinizing gazes of Professor Qian and my colleague Wu sitting in the back row... I knew this class would be difficult to teach.
