Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 420 First Battle Against the Enemy Shows Its Prowess
Chapter 420
The surrounding darkness seemed to writhe with life, the oppressive feeling growing stronger, the chill biting to the bone. I gripped the fragment of the treasure tightly in my hand, warily scanning my surroundings, but still couldn't find any trace of the enemy. Su Yao stood beside me, the spear in her hand gleaming with a cold light, her eyes sharp as a hawk's.
"Where are they?" the Iridium Beastmaster asked in a low voice, a hint of unease in his tone. Beside him, the Platinum Strategist frowned, seemingly deep in thought.
I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and felt the flow of energy around me. A faint fluctuation caught my attention; it was hidden deep in the darkness, appearing and disappearing intermittently. I suddenly opened my eyes and pointed in a direction in the darkness: "There!"
"How do you know?" asked the Beast Tamer with a suspicious look.
I didn't explain, but instead gave the order to the beasts behind me: "Attack!"
My beasts roared deafeningly and charged towards the direction I indicated like arrows released from a bow. Almost simultaneously, an angry howl echoed from the darkness, and the enemy finally appeared. They were a group of warriors clad in black armor, wielding sharp blades, exuding a chilling killing intent.
The battle was about to begin. My tamed beasts clashed fiercely with the enemies, swords flashing, energy colliding, creating deafening roars. I wasn't idle either; wielding fragments of treasure, I charged into the enemy ranks, engaging them in close combat.
My attacks were fierce and swift, each strike imbued with immense power, repelling the enemy. Su Yao followed closely behind, her spear dancing like a nimble snake, each swing claiming an enemy's life.
The Iridium Beast Tamer and his companions also joined the battle. Although they were not as strong as Su Yao and I, their teamwork was excellent, and they displayed considerable fighting power. The Metal Youth, although lacking the ability to tame beasts, bravely took up arms and fought against the enemy, demonstrating the courage and determination of the younger generation.
As I fought, I observed the battlefield situation. Although the enemy was numerous, their strength varied greatly, and they lacked effective command, quickly falling into a disadvantageous position. I seized the opportunity and commanded my beasts to launch a fierce attack, completely shattering the enemy's formation.
The enemy began to rout and fled in all directions. I did not order a pursuit, but instead commanded the beast tamers to hold their ground and prevent a counterattack.
"You... your command skills are truly admirable." The Beast Tamer walked up to me, his tone filled with admiration.
I smiled slightly and remained silent. Although we had won this battle, I knew this was only the beginning. The enemy's hidden strength was far greater than we had imagined, and we had to be even more cautious.
“Yu…” Su Yao walked to my side and gently touched my arm.
Su Yao followed closely beside me, her eyes filled with fervent love. Every now and then, she would gently touch my arm and say, "Yu, you're just like a valiant general." I turned to look at her; the smoke of battle had smeared her face with a layer of grime, but it couldn't dim the light in her eyes. I smiled and squeezed her hand; this simple gesture filled me with strength.
“Now is not the time to relax,” I said, glancing across the battlefield. “The enemy may have retreated temporarily, but they will surely come back.”
The Iridium Beastmaster stood to the side, arms crossed, a hint of disdain on his face. Although he was dragged into the fight by my decision, he wasn't enthusiastic, deliberately stalling during the battle and even nearly putting his beast in danger several times. I noticed that the Gold-clad youth tried to reason with him several times, but was stopped by the Platinum-clad strategist.
“Nong Yu,” Jin Bo, the strategist, walked up to me, his face somewhat grim. “I apologize on his behalf for Jin Yi’s actions. He simply… still has doubts about our cooperation.”
I understand what he means. The Beast Tamers of Metal and Iridium represent a conservative force that is wary of cooperating with us "outsiders" and even less willing to follow my orders.
“Doubts are normal,” I said calmly, “but now is not the time for infighting. If we cannot unite, we will only benefit our enemies in the end.” I looked at the Beastmaster of Metal and Iridium, “I hope you understand this.”
The iridium-clad beast tamer snorted coldly, turned his head away, and remained silent. The other beast tamers behind him also showed expressions of displeasure. The gold-clad youth finally couldn't hold back any longer. He stepped forward, pointed at the iridium-clad beast tamer, and said, "What kind of attitude is this! If it weren't for Nong Yu..."
"Jin!" Jinbo, the strategist, shouted to stop him, then turned to me and smiled apologetically, "The child is ignorant, Nongyu, please don't mind him."
I shook my head and said nothing more. I knew that forcing them to cooperate was impossible; I could only slowly show them my strength and win their trust. I looked around; the battlefield still reeked of blood, and the air still lingered with the energy fluctuations of battle. A vague unease crept into my heart; I had a feeling that something was about to happen.
"Everyone be careful!" I suddenly shouted, a strong sense of crisis welling up inside me.
Almost the instant I finished speaking, a blinding light suddenly shone from the darkness in the distance…
"What is that?" Su Yao's voice came from beside me, tinged with fear. I felt her hand gripping my arm tightly, so hard it hurt a little.
I stared intently at the light, a sense of foreboding filling my heart... The light grew brighter and closer...
The light drew ever closer, finally revealing its true form—a gigantic fireball, trailing a long, fiery tail, hurtling towards us like a meteorite. A scorching heat assaulted our senses; the air itself seemed to be baked.
"It's Meteor Spell!" the Beastmaster of Metal and Iridium exclaimed, his face turning deathly pale. Meteor Spell is an extremely powerful offensive spell; if it hits, the consequences are unimaginable.
My heart sank; I knew the enemy had come prepared. Without a second thought, I immediately ordered, "All beasts, prepare for defense!"
No sooner had I finished speaking than a resounding phoenix cry echoed across the sky. My steed, the Fire Phoenix, spread its wings and flew towards the enormous fireball. Its entire body was engulfed in raging flames, like a divine bird reborn from the ashes, its aura magnificent and imposing.
Meanwhile, the other tamed beasts also displayed their unique abilities, unleashing their defensive skills. Earth-type tamed beasts built high earthen walls, while water-type tamed beasts spewed forth torrents of water, attempting to extinguish the fireball.
boom!
The fireball collided with the fire phoenix, creating a deafening roar. The powerful shockwave swept outwards, uprooting surrounding trees and creating huge cracks in the ground.
The fire phoenix was thrown back several steps by the enormous impact, but it did not give up. It let out an angry cry, flapped its wings again, and used its burning feathers to envelop the fireball, attempting to devour it.
Seeing Huo Feng's bravery, my heart was filled with hope. I turned to look at Su Yao, who was anxiously watching the battlefield, her eyes filled with worry. I squeezed her hand and gave her a reassuring look.
“Don’t worry, we will win,” I said firmly.
Despite the fire phoenix's fierce resistance, the enormous fireball gradually shrank and eventually disappeared into the air. But the enemy's attack did not stop. A dense rain of arrows followed, falling from the sky like locusts.
"Watch out!" I shouted a warning.
My beasts reacted swiftly, some shielding me from the rain of arrows with their bodies, while others used their skills to knock them down. The beast tamer, Jin Yi, and his beasts also joined the battle; although their movements were still somewhat sluggish, they at least stopped deliberately delaying.
I noticed the gold-plated boy hiding behind a boulder, nervously watching the battlefield. I walked over to him and patted him on the shoulder.
“Don’t be afraid, we will protect you,” I said.
The golden-haired boy looked up, his eyes filled with gratitude. He nodded, then peeked out from behind the boulder to observe the situation on the battlefield.
"Nong Yu, the enemy seems to have lost their composure," the gold-plated boy suddenly said.
I followed his gaze and saw that the enemy's formation was indeed in disarray. They seemed surprised by our fierce resistance and were momentarily at a loss.
This was a perfect opportunity to counterattack. I immediately gave the order: "All beasts, attack with full force!"
My tamed beasts roared with deafening fury and launched a fierce attack on the enemy. The fire phoenix spewed forth raging flames, burning the enemy's formation to the ground. The other tamed beasts also displayed their unique abilities, routing the enemy completely.
"Wait," I suddenly noticed a figure slowly emerging from behind the enemy lines, a suffocating pressure emanating from him, "That person..."
