Chapter 370 Exploring the Deeper Characteristics of Power
Chapter 370
The mist, like damp, cold cotton wool, enveloped me tightly, making it almost impossible to breathe. The depths of the ruins were far more eerie than I had imagined. I tentatively took a step forward, each step feeling like walking on thin air, devoid of any real sense of ground. Silence reigned all around, broken only by the pounding of my own heart, echoing in my chest, each beat pounding against my nerves.
"Nong Yu, are you alright?" Su Yao's voice seemed to pierce through the mist, reaching my ears clearly. Her voice carried a hint of worry, yet was also full of encouragement, like a warm ray of light illuminating my path forward.
"I'm fine." I tried to make my voice sound calm and firm, even though my heart was filled with anxiety. I took a deep breath, forcing myself to calm down. I couldn't panic. Su Yao was still waiting for me outside. I had to find the properties of this power to protect her and our shared future.
I closed my eyes and tried to feel the flow of energy around me. At first, I only felt a chaotic mass, with all sorts of energies intertwined and disordered. But I didn't give up. I tried again and again, striving to discern and perceive.
Time ticked by, my mental energy was nearly exhausted, and my body began to feel weary. Just as I was about to give up, I suddenly sensed something unusual. Deep within the mist, there seemed to be a faint energy fluctuation that resonated with the power within me.
The energy fluctuation was extremely weak, almost imperceptible; if I hadn't concentrated all my mental energy, I probably wouldn't have been able to detect it at all. Overjoyed, I immediately headed towards the direction from which the energy fluctuation came.
As I approached, the energy fluctuations grew stronger, and the mist gradually dissipated. I could vaguely see an object shimmering with light not far ahead.
"What is that?" I asked, filled with curiosity, and quickened my pace.
As I approached, I could see that it was a fist-sized crystal, emitting a faint blue light. The surface of the crystal was covered with intricate patterns, resembling some kind of ancient script or mysterious design.
I reached out and gently touched the crystal.
In an instant, a powerful energy surged into my body, and I felt as if my body was being torn apart. I groaned in pain and quickly withdrew my hand.
"Nong Yu!" Su Yao's voice came again, filled with anxiety, "What happened?"
I took a deep breath, trying to calm the surging energy within me.
"I...I think I've found it..." I said haltingly, my eyes fixed on the crystal, a strange premonition welling up inside me...This, perhaps, is what I've been searching for.
"What kind of power is this..." The power of the crystal was far more violent than I had imagined, like a wild horse rampaging through my meridians. I groaned, my body trembling uncontrollably, a burning sensation spreading from the depths of my body, as if it would incinerate me completely.
The beast within me, which had been sleeping peacefully, was now also affected by this violent energy and began to stir restlessly. I could feel the fear and pain it transmitted to me; it wailed and struggled, but to no avail. I gritted my teeth, trying to control the chaotic energy surging within me, attempting to guide it to my dantian, but the power was too strong, and my efforts seemed utterly futile.
"Nong Yu!" Su Yao's voice, choked with sobs, rang out from outside the mist. She sensed my pain and anxiously called my name.
"Don't come in!" I shouted with all my might, my voice hoarse and almost inaudible. I knew how dangerous this power was, and I couldn't let her take the risk.
However, my warning came too late. A flash of white light appeared, and Su Yao's figure appeared before me. She rushed into the mist without hesitation, and seeing my pained expression, her face was filled with worry and heartache.
"Nong Yu!" She rushed to my side and hugged me tightly. "What's wrong?"
Her embrace was warm and firm, as if giving me a surge of strength. I felt a gentle energy emanating from her body, slowly flowing into my own, neutralizing the violent force within me.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here." Su Yao's voice rang in my ears, gentle yet firm. "I will stay with you and get through this together."
Though her strength was weak, it was like a clear spring, nourishing my parched body and soothing my restless soul. I held her hand tightly, feeling the warmth of her palm, and a warm current surged through my heart.
I tried my best to concentrate, guiding Su Yao's power, and that violent power, slowly flowing into my dantian. It was a long and painful process; my body felt as if it were being torn apart and reassembled, every nerve stretched to its limit.
I don't know how much time passed, but the violent power finally subsided, and my body stopped trembling. I slowly opened my eyes and saw Su Yao looking at me with a worried expression, her eyes filled with tears.
"I'm fine now." I smiled weakly, trying to reassure her.
"Really?" Su Yao's voice still trembled slightly.
I nodded and gently patted her hand.
Although the violent power had subsided, the beast within me remained uneasy, trembling as if greatly frightened. I could sense its fear of that power, which made me even more vigilant.
I looked at the crystal again; it still emitted a faint blue light, though it seemed dimmer than before. I reached out and carefully touched the crystal. This time, I didn't feel that violent power again.
I closed my eyes and once again sensed the energy fluctuations around me. This time, I could perceive the power contained within the crystal more clearly. It was still powerful, but no longer violent; instead, it was a more profound and mysterious force.
I took a deep breath, a faint premonition rising within me that this power might change my destiny...
"Are you ready?" Su Yao's voice rang in my ears, tinged with worry.
I turned to look at her, and her eyes were filled with determination and trust.
I nodded and squeezed her hand.
"Let's go," I said, my voice low and firm.
We turned and walked deeper into the mist, where something seemed to be waiting for us… “Wait,” I suddenly stopped, my gaze falling on the ground beside the crystal. There, there seemed to be a faint mark… like a… footprint?
