Beast Taming Star Journey

Chapter 367 The Perilous Secret

Chapter 367 The Perilous Secret

Chapter 367

The air in the sealed room seemed to freeze. The words of the mentor, Jinba, weighed heavily on my chest, making it hard to breathe. The forces of darkness, this colossal entity that had always lurked in the shadows, had finally set its sights on me. I struggled to control myself, trying not to let my inner fear show.

"Someone is monitoring Rhodium..." My mentor's words echoed in my mind. Could it be that the Rhodium Beast Tamer is just a decoy, and someone else is really monitoring us? My thoughts were a tangled mess, and I couldn't make sense of them.

Just then, a powerful sense of oppression emanated from the entrance to the secret chamber. The stone door swung open with a bang, and a man in a long black robe, his face cold and stern, walked in. He was surrounded by a chilling aura that sent shivers down one's spine. It was none other than the Messenger of Metal and Iodine!

"Master Palladium, it's been a long time." The Messenger of Iodine spoke in a cold tone, but his gaze was fixed on me as if trying to see through me. "This must be Nong Yu, right? Indeed, a handsome man."

I sensed a scrutinizing and probing look in his gaze, and my heart skipped a beat. Did he already know my secret?

"You flatter me, Ambassador of Iodine." I tried to remain calm, my tone neither humble nor arrogant.

"I've heard that Nong Yu's beast-taming abilities are extraordinary. Would you be so kind as to let me witness them?" The envoy's tone was polite, yet carried an undeniable air of authority.

As I hesitated about how to respond, Su Yao suddenly stepped forward and stood in front of me.

“Nong Yu has just finished his training and his body has not yet recovered, so I’m afraid he won’t be able to demonstrate his abilities.” Su Yao’s tone was icy, carrying a hint of warning.

"Oh? Is that so?" The envoy of metal and iodine looked at Su Yao with a half-smile, a glint of shrewdness flashing in his eyes. "I have long heard of the Valkyrie Su Yao's great name. Seeing her today, I can see that her reputation is indeed well-deserved."

Su Yao met his gaze without fear, and the atmosphere between them was tense.

"In that case, I will not disturb you any longer." The envoy of metal and iodine suddenly changed the subject and turned to leave the secret room.

After he left, I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling my back soaked with cold sweat.

"Thank you, Su Yao," I said gratefully.

"No need to thank me," Su Yao said calmly. "I just didn't want others to disturb our cultivation."

Looking at her resolute figure, I was filled with admiration. She was not only incredibly strong, but also meticulous in her thinking, able to remain calm in such a critical moment and successfully resolve the crisis.

“We need to leave here as soon as possible,” Instructor Jin Pa said gravely. “The dark forces have their eyes on us; this place is no longer safe.”

We packed our things and prepared to leave the secret room. Just then, I suddenly sensed a faint presence coming from a corner of the room. Following the scent, I found a loose stone in the corner. I gently moved the stone and discovered a note hidden inside.

I opened the note, which read: "Go to the ancient ruins quickly, Tellurium is waiting for you."

Ancient ruins? Tellurium? These two unfamiliar names puzzled me. Who left this note? And what was their purpose?

I handed the note to my mentor, Jinba. His expression changed drastically after reading it. "Oh no, we've fallen for their trap!" he exclaimed. "This is a diversionary tactic by the dark forces!"

"What do we do now?" I asked anxiously.

The mentor pondered for a moment and said, "We must go to the ancient ruins, but we must also be fully prepared."

He looked at me, his eyes filled with resolve. "Nong Yu," he said, "your secret may soon be exposed..."

The atmosphere in the secret room was so heavy it was suffocating. The mentor's face was as gloomy as the clouds before a storm. He had just returned from outside, and the news he brought was like a bolt from the blue, shaking me to my core.

“The dark forces have intensified their surveillance of the ancient ruins,” the mentor’s voice was low and hoarse. “The Messenger of Metal and Iodine said it himself, they suspect we are hiding there, and even… they suspect you, Nong Yu.”

My heart sank, as if I had fallen into a cold abyss. I struggled to control myself, trying not to let the fear within me consume me. Ever since I obtained this mysterious power, I knew that one day I would be exposed to the light of day, but I never expected that day to come so soon.

Su Yao sensed my unease and gripped my hand tightly. Her hand was soft yet firm, like a warm current flowing into my body, dispelling the chill in my heart. "No matter what, I will stay by your side." She looked at me, her eyes firm yet tender.

I looked at her, my heart filled with emotion. In this perilous world, having her by my side is my greatest fortune.

“We must enhance your power as soon as possible,” the mentor broke the silence. “Only with sufficient strength can we fight against the dark forces and protect ourselves and Su Yao.”

I know my mentor is right, but how can I enhance this mysterious power? It's like a wild, unruly horse; I can't control it at all, let alone improve it.

“The key to enhancing power may be hidden in the ancient ruins,” my mentor seemed to see my doubts, “but it’s fraught with danger there now, and we must be careful.”

We devised a plan to sneak into the ancient ruins under the cover of night. Our mentor, Palladium, was responsible for distracting the guards, while Su Yao and I would take the opportunity to venture deeper into the ruins to search for clues.

As night fell, we quietly left the secret chamber and headed towards the ancient ruins. All the way, I could feel countless eyes watching our every move. My heart pounded faster and faster, and my palms began to sweat.

Finally, we arrived at the entrance to the ancient ruins. Following plan, Instructor Jin Palladium created some noise to attract the guards' attention. Su Yao and I then slipped into the ruins.

The interior of the ruins was pitch black, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. I followed Su Yao cautiously, afraid of triggering some mechanism. An ancient and mysterious aura filled the air, making me feel oppressed and uneasy.

We walked for a long time and finally arrived at a spacious hall. In the center of the hall stood a huge stone tablet, covered with densely packed text.

"What is this?" I asked curiously.

Su Yao shook her head, indicating that she didn't understand either. We walked to the stone tablet and carefully observed the inscriptions. Suddenly, I felt a powerful force emanating from the stone tablet and flowing into my body.

My body began to tremble uncontrollably, and a powerful energy surged through my body. I felt my consciousness gradually fading, as if I were about to be swallowed up by this power.

"Nong Yu!" Su Yao called my name anxiously.

I tried desperately to respond to her, but found myself unable to make a sound. My vision was completely dark; only that powerful force continued to assault my body.

Just as I was about to lose consciousness, I suddenly felt a chill creep up my back... "Watch out..."
