Beast Taming Star Journey

Chapter 359 The Journey of In-Depth Investigation

Chapter 359 The Journey of In-Depth Investigation

The beast heads on the stone gate were ferocious and terrifying, almost lifelike, sending chills down my spine. Su Yao gripped my hand tightly; her palm was a little cold, and I could feel her tension. Taking a deep breath, I raised the tinderbox higher, trying to see the details on the stone gate more clearly.

“This beast head… resembles some kind of ancient ferocious beast.” Su Yao’s voice rang in my ears, tinged with solemnity. “I have seen similar records in ancient books. This kind of ferocious beast possesses the power to control people’s hearts.”

My heart skipped a beat. Manipulating people's minds? Could it be that this beast was behind all of this?

"Little White," I called softly to my beast companion, a pure white spirit fox, "Can you sense anything unusual?"

Little White nimbly jumped onto my shoulder, sniffed with its sensitive nose, then let out a low growl and ran towards the left side of the stone gate.

"Come on, follow it!" I pulled Su Yao up and followed closely behind Xiaobai's figure.

At the end of the passage was a spacious hall, in the center of which stood a massive stone pillar, its surface intricately carved with runes that emitted a faint glow. A rich spiritual energy permeated the hall, making one feel refreshed and invigorated.

Besides Little White, I also summoned my other tamed beasts: Little Gold, a golden giant eagle; Little Black, a black leopard; and Little Fire, a fiery red lizard. They scattered and began to search carefully in the hall.

"The spiritual energy here is so rich!" Su Yao exclaimed. "It seems this place was once an important cultivation site."

I nodded, my gaze fixed on my fellow beast tamers. Suddenly, Little Gold let out a sharp cry and flew back from the corner of the hall, clutching a piece of black cloth in its claws.

I took the cloth and examined it closely. There were some strange symbols embroidered on the cloth. I couldn't recognize the meaning of these symbols, but I felt like I had seen them somewhere before.

"What is this?" Su Yao asked, leaning closer.

I shook my head. "I don't know, but this thing must be very important."

Just then, Little Black ran over from the other side of the hall, carrying a jade slip in its mouth. I took the jade slip and probed it with my divine sense. Instantly, a surge of information flooded into my mind.

The jade slip contains some secret techniques about controlling beasts, including one that can manipulate people's minds!

"Found it!" I shouted excitedly. "This is the evidence!"

No sooner had I finished speaking than a chilling laugh suddenly echoed through the hall.

"Heh, I didn't expect you to find this place." A sinister voice came from behind the stone pillar.

I was startled and immediately shielded Su Yao behind me, looking warily in the direction from which the sound came.

A figure dressed in a black robe slowly emerged from behind the stone pillar, a sinister smile on his face—it was none other than Brother Jin's strategist!

"Who are you people?" I asked in a deep voice.

"Heh," Brother Jin's strategist sneered, "You don't need to know who we are, you just need to know that you're all going to die here today!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than dozens of men in black suddenly appeared in the hall and surrounded us.

I took a deep breath and gripped the jade slip tightly in my hand. It seemed a fierce battle was inevitable... Su Yao's hand gripped my arm tightly, her eyes firm and calm, as if saying: Don't be afraid, we'll fight together!

Dozens of men in black surged forward like a tide, their swords flashing and their killing intent palpable. I shielded Su Yao behind me, while Xiao Bai, Xiao Jin, Xiao Hei, and Xiao Huo also took their positions, and a fierce battle erupted instantly.

Little Gold took flight, its sharp cry echoing through the hall. It swooped down, its sharp talons tearing through the clothes of the men in black, creating a bloody storm. Little Black, like a black lightning bolt, darted through the crowd, each strike taking down an enemy. Little Fire spewed scorching flames, forcing back any approaching men in black. Little White, meanwhile, leaped around me, attacking its enemies with its sharp teeth and claws.

I took a deep breath, pushing my beast-taming power to its limit. A powerful force surged through my body, and I felt as if I had merged with my beast companions, their power becoming a part of me. I wielded my longsword, its sword energy crisscrossing, repelling the approaching men in black one by one.

"Damn it!" Brother Jin's strategist's face darkened; he clearly hadn't expected us to be so troublesome. He brandished his staff, chanting incantations, and a black mist surged from it, enveloping us.

"Watch out!" I shouted, pulling Su Yao behind me and simultaneously activating my beast-taming power to form a barrier in front of me, blocking the black mist.

The black mist was extremely corrosive, and the barrier hissed and crackled, on the verge of collapsing. I gritted my teeth and strained with all my might to maintain the barrier. Just then, Su Yao suddenly let out a muffled groan. I turned around and saw a deep gash on her arm, slashed by a man in black, from which blood was gushing.

"Su Yao!" My heart sank, and a surge of anger welled up inside me. I grabbed Su Yao and gently placed her on the ground, then turned to look at the men in black, my eyes filled with murderous intent.

"Little White, Little Gold, Little Black, Little Fire, protect Su Yao!" I roared, then charged into the crowd again, my long sword like a scythe of death, reaping lives one by one.

While fighting, I also used some of my beast-taming power to heal Su Yao. Warm energy flowed into Su Yao's body, and her complexion gradually regained some color.

"Nong Yu, be careful!" Su Yao called out weakly.

I nodded without speaking, and simply attacked the men in black even more frantically. I don't know how much time passed; I only know that I was blinded by rage, and everything before my eyes became blurry.

Finally, the last man in black fell to my sword. I stood there, panting, covered in blood, as if I had just crawled out of hell. I went to Su Yao's side, helped her up, and asked with concern, "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine," Su Yao shook her head, forcing a smile. "How about you?"

"I'm fine too." I smiled, then looked around. The hall was a mess, littered with corpses and blood. Brother Jin's strategist had already fled sometime earlier.

I walked up to the massive stone pillar and carefully examined the runes on it. These runes seemed to contain some kind of mysterious power. I felt like I had seen similar runes somewhere before, but I couldn't quite place them.

Suddenly, Little White let out a low growl and ran towards a corner of the hall. My heart skipped a beat, and I immediately followed. Little White stopped in an inconspicuous corner, scratching at the ground with its paws. I crouched down, brushed away the dirt, and revealed a black wooden box.

I opened the wooden box, inside which lay a jade slip. I probed the jade slip with my divine sense, and instantly, a surge of information flooded my mind. The jade slip contained a map... and at the end of the map was marked a place—"Forbidden Land."

I looked up at Su Yao and said in a deep voice, "Let's go."

Su Yao nodded, and we walked together in the direction marked on the map. At the end of the hall was a deep, dark passage, its entrance shrouded in an eerie atmosphere… What secrets did this forbidden area hold? I gripped the map tightly, my heart filled with doubt and unease. Suddenly, I felt a chill, as if a pair of eyes were watching us from the shadows…
