The atmosphere in the hall was heavy, like the oppressive calm before a storm. The patriarch sat in the main seat, his brow furrowed, his face grim. Several elders sat around him, whispering amongst themselves, their faces also etched with anxiety and unease.

"The Lin family has gone too far!"

An elder slammed his fist on the table and said angrily, "When have we farmers ever suffered such humiliation!"

"But the Lin family is very powerful, we..."

Another elder hesitated, a hint of fear in his voice.

Are we just going to let others slaughter us?

I looked at them in disbelief. "Have you forgotten how the Lin family humiliated us? We've already lost so many of our clansmen, are we going to continue to swallow our anger?"

The elder of the farming family said earnestly, "We must prioritize the interests of the family and not act impulsively."

A chill ran through me as I realized the weight of the responsibility on my shoulders. I immediately gathered all the able-bodied members of my clan to prepare for the Lin family's attack.
