Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 238 Exploring the Mystery of the Predicament and Cleverly Solving the Dilemma
A black energy wave roared in, and my heart sank. I quickly commanded the Flame Lion to block in front of us.
With a deafening roar, the energy wave struck the lion, unleashing a dazzling burst of sparks.
The lion let out a painful roar and staggered back a few steps.
Su Yao's white crane also let out a sharp cry, swooped down, and fiercely pecked at the beast tamer with its sharp beak.
The Beastmaster sneered and dodged the white crane's attack with a flash.
"You think you can pass this ultimate test? Wishful thinking!" He condensed another ball of black energy in his hand and attacked us.
"Don't be so smug!" I roared, enduring the pain in my body, and once again commanded the lion to fight.
Just then, the thick fog completely dissipated, and the scene before us stunned us.
The stone gate vanished, replaced by a vast labyrinth, with winding passages stretching as far as the eye could see, and strange runes carved into the walls, shimmering with an eerie light.
"What is this?!" I asked in astonishment.
"It seems this is the true face of the ultimate test," Su Yao said in a deep voice. "We must be careful; this maze is definitely full of dangers."
The Beastmaster was also taken aback for a moment, then sneered, "Hmph, even if it turns into a maze, it won't change your fate! I will be the first to pass the test!"
After saying that, he plunged into the maze. Su Yao and I exchanged a glance, and then entered the maze with our respective beasts.
The maze was dimly lit, and the air was damp. We proceeded cautiously, taking each step with utmost care.
"Watch out!" Suddenly, Lan's companion's voice came from ahead.
Before I could react, I heard a scream. Su Yao and I rushed over and saw Lan's companion lying on the ground, her body riddled with spikes, her clothes stained with blood.
"This is... a trap!" I exclaimed.
Just then, we heard a clicking sound beneath our feet. I looked down and saw a huge crater in the ground, with countless sharp spikes emerging from the bottom.
"Jump!" I grabbed Su Yao and leaped into the air, narrowly avoiding the trap.
"Ah!" A scream came from behind.
I turned around and saw a beast tamer fall into a trap and be instantly swallowed by spikes. My heart sank; this maze was far more dangerous than I had imagined!
In the time that followed, we kept running into obstacles in the maze, triggering mechanisms time and time again, and suffering various kinds of damage.
The lion's body was covered in wounds, and the crane's feathers were stained with blood. I also had several wounds on my body, and the pain was unbearable.
"This won't do!" Su Yao said, panting heavily. "We have to find the pattern to the mechanism, or we'll be worn down here sooner or later!"
I nodded, enduring the pain, and carefully observed the maze's structure. The runes on the walls, the patterns on the floor, the air currents...
I tried to find a clue. Suddenly, I noticed a detail... Instructor Barium had said before that the trial of the Beastmaster Star was a test of...
"Calm down," I murmured to myself.
"Calm down..." Su Yao seemed to have thought of something as well, her eyes flickering.
I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down.
Instructor Barium's words echoed in my mind: the test of the Beastmaster Star is not only a test of strength, but also of wisdom and composure.
I closed my eyes and quickly replayed everything that had happened in my mind, trying to find the details I had overlooked.
The runes on the walls, seemingly chaotic, subtly reveal a pattern... The patterns on the floor are not all exactly the same; there are some subtle differences...
Even the direction of the airflow seemed to hint at something... I suddenly opened my eyes, and a bold idea popped into my mind.
Could it be that these runes, patterns, and air currents are actually the key to solving the maze? I looked at the runes on the wall again, carefully observing their arrangement and shape.
Sure enough, these runes were not arranged randomly, but rather combined according to a specific pattern.
I looked at the patterns on the ground again and found that their directions and depths were different, as if they were guiding me in the right direction.
Finally, I sensed the subtle changes in the airflow and discovered that they always flowed in a certain direction.
"I know!" I shouted excitedly, "I know how to solve this maze!"
Su Yao quickly asked, "What is it?"
I pointed to the runes on the wall and explained, "These runes, the patterns on the ground, and the air currents are actually clues to guide us! As long as we follow their directions, we can avoid traps and find the right path!"
Su Yao's eyes lit up: "I see! Let's give it a try!"
Following the pattern I had discovered, we carefully made our way through the maze. Sure enough, we didn't trigger any more traps and made our way through without any obstacles.
My heart was filled with joy; my wisdom and composure finally helped us out of our predicament!
"Nong Yu! Nong Yu!" Su Yao's anxious voice came from outside the maze, trembling with worry.
That voice was like a warm current flowing through my heart, making me even more determined to get out of the maze as soon as possible and return to her side.
We quickened our pace, heading in the direction the sound came from. Finally, after passing through a long corridor, we saw the light of the exit.
A surge of joy filled me, and I grabbed Su Yao's hand, rushing out of the maze. The blinding light was momentarily disorienting, so I squinted, trying to make out what was before me.
Su Yao hugged me tightly, her body trembling slightly. I could feel her worry and joy.
"I'm so glad you're alright..." Su Yao's voice choked with emotion.
I gently patted her back and comforted her, "I'm fine, don't worry."
I looked up and around.
We seemed to have arrived at a vast, open square. In the center of the square stood a tall stone tablet with several ancient characters engraved on it: "Star of Beast Taming".
"It seems this is the final test of the ultimate trial," I muttered to myself.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps. I turned around and saw a group of powerful beast tamers standing in front of us. They were all menacing and their eyes were full of hostility.
The leader, dressed in a magnificent brocade robe, walked slowly towards us with a cold smile on his face...
"It seems this is the real challenge..." I clenched my fist, a fighting spirit surging within me.
