Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 202 Facing the Test, Approaching the Elder
The symbols on the stone tablet shimmered faintly, as if mocking my ignorance.
I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down.
I only have one chance, so I must be careful.
Meng's worries and Su Yao's encouragement became my motivation; I couldn't let them down.
I closed my eyes, placed my hand on the stone tablet, and tried to feel that strange energy.
At first, I only felt a chaotic fluctuation, like countless noisy voices echoing in my mind.
But I did not give up. I focused my mind and used my unique beast-taming ability to try to establish a connection with this energy.
Gradually, I felt a strange resonance. The originally chaotic fluctuations began to become clear, as if tiny currents were flowing through my fingertips.
I opened my eyes, and the symbols on the stone tablet were no longer meaningless patterns; they had transformed into vivid scenes, presenting strange images before my eyes.
I saw a lion engulfed in flames, roaring to the heavens, its roar shaking the mountains and rivers; I saw a giant dragon soaring through the heavens, its enormous wings blotting out the sun; I saw an ice phoenix radiating icy aura, its wings spreading high, freezing everything in its path… These images flashed through my mind like a revolving lantern. I realized that this stone tablet was no ordinary tablet; it was a complex beast-taming puzzle that I needed to use my beast-taming abilities to solve.
I took a deep breath and began to carefully observe these scenes, looking for patterns within them.
I discovered that these scenes were not unrelated; there was a subtle connection between them, as if they were independent fragments that made up a complete story.
I began to try to arrange these fragments in order, and my tamed beasts seemed to sense my intention. They began to circle around me, emitting low growls, as if cheering me on.
As I continued to try, the symbols on the stone tablet began to emit a brighter light, and the originally static scenes began to move. They intertwined and merged, eventually forming a completely new scene.
I saw an ancient altar, on which sat a gem that shone with dazzling light.
I know that's the key to the puzzle.
I reached out to touch the gem, but suddenly felt a powerful force push me away.
"It's not over yet!" an old voice rang in my ears.
I turned my head and saw an old man with a hunched back standing behind me. His eyes were deep and seemed to see right through me.
He is Elder Cobalt, the elder of the lost tribe.
Elder Cobalt walked up to the stone tablet, stretched out his withered fingers, and gently touched the symbols on the tablet.
The symbols suddenly shone brightly, illuminating the entire area as if it were daytime.
“Young man,” Elder Cobalt turned around and looked at me, his eyes gleaming with a strange light, “you are quite good, much better than I imagined…” Elder Cobalt’s words made me happy; it seemed I had passed the first test.
Su Yao watched nervously from the side, her eyes following my every move.
When Elder Cobalt praised me, a smile of satisfaction appeared on her face, and I could even feel her quietly tightening her grip on my hand, transferring strength to me.
I gave her a reassuring look to put her at ease.
“However,” Elder Cobalt changed the subject, his deep gaze seemingly able to see through my thoughts, “this is only the beginning. To gain my true approval, you will need to pass even more severe tests.”
My heart jumped again; things were indeed not that simple.
Elder Cobalt pointed to the stone tablet, "This stone tablet records the secret techniques of beast taming passed down through generations of our lost tribe. Only true geniuses can comprehend its mysteries. What you need to do next is to demonstrate the secret techniques you have comprehended."
I took a deep breath and placed my hand on the stone tablet again.
This time, I focused my mind even more, mobilizing all my beast-taming abilities to sense the energy contained within the stone tablet.
Those scenes reappeared before my eyes, but this time, they were no longer simple fragments, but complete beast-taming techniques.
I saw a huge mammoth, its heavy steps shaking the earth, emanating a powerful aura that made the surrounding beasts tremble.
I realized that this was a beast-taming technique that controlled gravity.
I saw a nimble cheetah, moving through the jungle at an astonishing speed, its figure like a flash of lightning, gone in an instant.
I realized that this was a beast-taming technique that increased speed.
I saw an eagle soaring in the sky. Its eyes were sharp and could see through everything. Its talons were as sharp as steel and could easily tear its prey apart.
I realized that this was a beast-taming technique that enhanced eyesight and attack power.
I began to try to integrate these techniques into my beast-taming ability, and my beasts began to imitate the movements in those scenes. Their bodies emitted bursts of strange light, as if they were absorbing the energy in the stone tablet.
I feel my body is full of power, and my beast-taming ability has been greatly enhanced.
I opened my eyes, which shone with confidence.
Just as I was about to reveal the secret technique I had comprehended, I suddenly sensed an unusual aura.
I turned my head and saw a group of people standing not far away. They were dressed in different clothes than the lost tribes and their eyes were full of hostility.
"Stop him!" a rough voice rang out.
These people rushed over quickly, carrying all sorts of weapons and exuding a fierce killing intent.
I was startled. Who were these people?
Why are you stopping me?
Su Yao also sensed the danger. She immediately stood in front of me, a long sword appearing in her hand, her eyes warily fixed on those people.
"Who are you people? Why are you trying to stop him from completing the test?" Su Yao asked sharply.
"Hmph, we will not allow outsiders to meddle in the secret techniques of our lost tribe!" one of them sneered.
These people were some of the more conservative members of the Lost Tribe. They did not want outsiders to learn their beast-taming techniques, and they especially did not want Elder Cobalt to reveal the secrets of the Lost Tribe.
They created various noises to interfere with me, and released some small disruptive beasts to rush towards the Beast Taming Puzzle. The light on the stone tablet began to flicker, and the connection between me and the stone tablet became weak.
My tamed beasts were somewhat flustered, emitting uneasy low growls.
I frowned. It seemed this trial was more complicated than I had imagined… “What are you doing…” I was about to speak when suddenly, Elder Cobalt abruptly raised his head, a cold glint flashing in his eyes…
