Even hybrid monsters have their day

Chapter 7 Where did this bumpkin come from?

Judging from his clothes, speech and work style, the person in front of me is somewhat like a police officer in human society, but would such a department exist in the underworld?

"How did you end up in that foreign land? Could you be a spy sent from somewhere to gather information about it?"

"Ah? No...no...I...I..." Geng Miaowan's expression was somewhat flustered. Being a spy was hardly a flattering title anywhere. In a place completely unfamiliar to her, being labeled as such might just end her life as a demon.

Mu Yuebin laughed heartily, "Don't be nervous, I was just saying."

Can you just say things like that? Although Geng Miaowan really wanted to rush up and give him a good whack on the head, she could only smile and say, "You're so funny."

After listening, Mu Yuebin laughed again, "Then can you tell me why you appeared at the gate of the alien realm? I just checked your identity, and you don't belong to the underworld."

Mu Yuebin has an occupational hazard: he always checks the identity of every stranger he meets.

Geng Miaowan was stunned. When did this happen?! From the moment she saw him until she got into the car, he hadn't touched her at all. How could their identities have been compared...?

However, seeing that she didn't have anything else to make up, she could only say half-truthfully, "I don't know why I ended up here. I was walking around and suddenly found myself here."

Upon hearing this, Mu Yuebin replied without even thinking, "It seems I've traveled through time."

"Huh?" Shouldn't most people find this kind of thing hard to understand? Why did this person accept her answer without any pressure? "Is this... very normal?"

“It’s not very common; it happens occasionally,” Mu Yuebin said.

This world is indeed very fantastical, Geng Miaowan thought to herself. Judging from his words, time travel is no longer a strange thing.

"Then what will you do... about someone like me who was unexpectedly transported to another world..." she asked cautiously, after all, it was a matter of great importance concerning her life as a demon.

“Usually we ignore it. Since they’ve traveled through time, they must have this need. But occasionally, we’ll send them back at their request, though such cases are extremely rare.” Mu Yuebin looked at Geng Miaowan and pondered for a moment before continuing, “You’re the first one to travel to the Underworld, so I don’t know how they’ll handle this.”

Geng Miaowan wore a bitter expression. Could she really say that she didn't want to be the first person at all...?

"By the way, which era are you from?"

"Which era? What do you mean, 'which realm'?"

"Gods, demons, immortals, ghosts, monsters, humans—which realm do you belong to?"

When he said she could be sent back, she answered without hesitation, "I am a human!"

Mu Yuebin's gaze towards Geng Miaowan returned with scrutiny. From the moment he first saw her, he had been using his consciousness mirror to observe her, yet she possessed none of the aura of any being from another realm. Could it be that his consciousness mirror was malfunctioning?

Thinking this, he put away the consciousness mirror on his wristwatch and used his long-unused perception ability to extend his consciousness to Geng Miaowan, but still gained nothing. Even a human should have some kind of aura, right? Even beings beyond the Six Realms should have some kind of aura, but she had no aura of any kind of biological species.

If he hadn't seen her, he would never have sensed her presence.

Generally, only those with strength three or more levels higher than their opponent can completely conceal their aura. He's already at the Golden Core stage, so could this girl be at least at the Integration stage? It doesn't seem like it at all; this is really strange…

As the two spoke, they arrived in front of a magnificent tall building. Geng Miaowan couldn't describe how big or tall it was; she could only say that as far as the eye could see, it was all buildings. Mu Yuebin stood for a moment by the door, and then the door opened.

She didn't have a chance to see what was inside the building. As soon as she entered, he led her into an elevator. When the elevator doors opened, it was a place that resembled an office.

There were many people inside, some dressed in ordinary clothes, some in uniforms like Mu Yuebin's, some with light blue skin, and others with what she considered normal yellow and white skin. They all merely glanced up at her casually before returning to what they were doing.

Mu Yuebin led Geng Miaowan to his office and asked her to wait there while he went to report to his superiors.

Geng Miaowan looked around the place. There was a large table, and the largest thing on the table was something that looked like a computer. She was unsure because it looked like a computer, but it was different from the computers in modern society that she remembered. It was more like the kind that appeared in science fiction movies.

A transparent, glass-like object stood on the table, without any wires or visible plugs. Next to the computer, some files were neatly arranged. The writing on them… well, she admitted, it was a language from no human realm; she couldn't understand it at all.

Curious, she reached out to pick it up and take a look, but found she couldn't lift it no matter what she did. She tried another book that looked smaller, but even though it was only a few pages long, she couldn't lift it no matter how hard she tried. It was as if it was grown onto the table.

Undeterred, Geng Miaowan tried again, this time targeting a piece of paper on the table, but she still couldn't pick it up.

Just then, a soft "pfft" came from the side. She looked up and saw a stunningly beautiful woman standing beside her. She had bright, clear eyes, a delicate nose, a small mouth, and the currently fashionable oval face. Her hair was styled in a slanted, flying-moon bun, and her well-tailored clothes accentuated her curves while maintaining an elegant air. If she were placed in the mortal realm, even goddesses would have to step aside.

The beautiful woman looked at Geng Miaowan with disdain and said sarcastically, "Where did this country bumpkin come from? She can't even hold a piece of paper properly. And look at her clothes, this style hasn't been worn for eight hundred years, really..."

Upon hearing this, Geng Miaowan looked down at her clothes. She was wearing a light purple gauze dress, which she thought was appropriate and elegant. How could this beautiful woman say that no one had worn it for eight hundred years?

She suddenly felt loveless.

The beautiful woman shook her head as she spoke, making clicking sounds. Those around her, though silent, all seemed to be watching with amusement.
