Even hybrid monsters have their day
Chapter 350 Rescue
Faced with yet another bombshell dropped by Huangfu Aoxuan, Geng Miaowan admitted she was at a loss for words, asking, "Where did Qiu Pi get all this information from?"
"Who knows? We shouldn't stay here any longer. We'd better leave quickly." Huangfu Aoxuan had been locked up here for so long and still couldn't figure out why, so he simply stopped thinking about it.
His reminder made Geng Miaowan realize where she was, and she quickly went back to the room where Peng Yuxian was being held. However, she still didn't forget to ask Huangfu Aoxuan in her mind, "By the way, have you seen Luan Hao?"
"no"
Peng Yuxian was no longer as shocked as he had been when he first saw her. Now, when he saw her again, the look in his eyes was complex and hard to decipher.
Geng Miaowan tried again to unlock the chain, but she felt two burning gazes fixed on her, making her uncomfortable. Yet, she didn't want to abandon him, especially after what had happened in the vampire's space. Although her reason told her that these were two different spaces and different people, every time she saw his face, a sense of guilt would rise within her, making her feel as if she owed him something.
So she started making small talk to try and distract him, hoping he would stop looking at her like that.
"How did you get here? Why is Haotian locking you up like this?"
"Because I know the secret of Buzhou Mountain."
As far as she knew, Haotian wasn't someone who would do something pointless. There must be some hidden reason why he treated her this way—at least one she didn't know. However, these reasons were usually highly confidential and not to be shared with outsiders, so she was prepared for him to either not answer her or give her some vague, perfunctory reply.
But she hadn't expected Peng Yuxian to be so frank right off the bat, and unconsciously followed his lead, asking, "What secret?"
After asking the question, a glint suddenly flashed in her eyes, and before Peng Yuxian could speak, she added, "About Dongfang Liancheng, or perhaps, the chance of survival." She simply couldn't imagine what greater secrets Buzhou Mountain could hold.
Geng Miaowan's words brought a gleam of joy to Peng Yuxian's eyes. He gasped for breath, then abruptly stood up, only to be pulled back to the ground by the chains, kneeling once more. A mouthful of blood spurted out, leaving a bright red mark on the ground. Yet, he seemed oblivious to the pain, only watching her give him a dazzling smile.
How are you?
He shook his head, his gaze towards her now holding something more. "Don't bother with this. This chain is forged from the evil energy of hell, specifically designed to deal with the immortals. While locking someone in place, it drains their life essence. Unless the caster or the locked person dies, no one can unlock it."
"How can such a vicious thing exist in this world?" Geng Miaowan complained, then tugged at the chain again. "Isn't there any other way? Wait, what did you just say about the Immortal Clan? You...you're from the Immortal Clan?"
It took her a while to find the key point in Peng Yuxian's words.
Peng Yuxian nodded. "I've been locked here for nearly three hundred years, and my body has long been ruined by these chains. Even if the chains are unlocked now, I won't live much longer."
Geng Miaowan was still reeling from the shock of discovering Peng Yuxian was a member of the Immortal Clan. Seeing her stunned expression, Peng Yuxian chuckled and shook his head. "Actually, seeing you here today is a bit of a surprise, yet not entirely unexpected. I knew there would always be someone who would come looking for me here, but I never imagined that person would be you. Miaowan, come over here, let me see you."
Upon hearing this, Geng Miaowan obediently walked up to him.
"Come a little further."
She took two more steps forward, and out of respect for Peng Yuxian's posture, she half-squatted down to look him in the eye.
The moment she squatted down, Peng Yuxian's hand, which had a limited range of motion, suddenly flicked his fingers. As he uttered the incantation, a beam of light shot from his eyes and pierced straight through her forehead.
He closed his eyes to her surprise, and when he opened them again, they were filled with his usual calm. "It really was you. Over a thousand years... I thought I'd never see you again."
He spoke so casually and nonchalantly, but Geng Miaowan was completely bewildered. She had known him for over a thousand years, but at most it had been over three hundred. How could he say he had waited for her for over a thousand years?
Seemingly sensing the question in her eyes, Peng Yuxian laboriously adjusted his posture and sat cross-legged on the ground. Seeing his demeanor and posture, Geng Miaowan clearly knew he had something to say, so she quickly followed suit and sat cross-legged on the ground as well.
However, Peng Yuxian just looked at her with a gaze she had never seen in his eyes before. It made her feel that he was looking at someone else through her rather than at her.
But who is that person? Is he the one Peng Yuxian has been waiting for for over a thousand years?
Geng Miaowan guessed to herself, but didn't utter a sound. She had a premonition that no matter who he was looking at, the secret he had kept hidden for over a thousand years would eventually be revealed to her.
Don't ask her how she knew; it was a feeling, a strange feeling, yet one that made her very certain.
Sure enough, after looking at her for a while, Peng Yuxian said in a low voice, "I should have known that you were that person. You look almost identical, and even I can't tell you apart."
"Who is Su Yun'er?" Geng Miaowan instinctively knew he was talking about that person. She didn't know why, but ever since she was injured and absorbed that strange spiritual energy, her features had become more and more like Su Yun'er's.
Now, let alone Peng Yuxian, even she herself is starting to doubt whether the person in the mirror is really herself.
"You've seen her?" Then she thought, since she had managed to find her way here, it wasn't surprising that she had seen Su Yun'er.
"Is there some kind of relationship between her and me?" Ever since she saw Su Yun'er, she had asked herself this question more than once, but no one could tell her. It seemed that Zuo Lengdan knew something back then, but she died before she could ask her. So this question remained unanswered in her heart.
But now, looking at Peng Yuxian's expression, it seems he knows something, which reminds her of this question again. She never thought that two people who have no relation could be so similar.
Peng Yuxian finally withdrew his gaze from her and turned to look at a void. "This is a long story. If I still had my magic, I could simply help you regain your memories and you would know everything. But now I no longer have the ability to cast a spell to break the seal for you, so I can only make this a short story."
