Even hybrid monsters have their day

Chapter 3 A first glimpse into the secret realm

She smiled gently at Mo Lian, "Keep this a secret for me, okay?"

With her physical condition and her identity, she was already disliked by many when she was considered mentally challenged. If others were to find out that she was mentally sound, those who had previously refrained from harming her because of her mental issues would certainly not let her off the hook. She was, after all, human, and thinking back on her life in the demon realm, she felt utterly out of place.

Mo Lian thought it was a good thing that the princess wasn't stupid anymore, so she would never be bullied again. But since the princess asked her to keep it a secret, she would keep it a secret. She nodded and said to Geng Miaowan, "Princess, I'll go get you some food. You haven't eaten for a long time, you must be starving."

Watching Mo Lian leave, Geng Miaowan's mind flashed back to the path leading to the human realm. Although she had been tricked into going to the human realm, that path did indeed lead there. As long as her body didn't revert to its original form, no one would be able to detect that she was a demon. This was one of the few advantages of this body.

Therefore, it is not impossible for her to live in the human world.

The thought of her sisters feeding her a drug that would cause her to reveal her true demon form when they sent her to the human realm, preventing her from transforming back into a human and leading to her being discovered and tied to an altar, sent a chill down Geng Miaowan's spine. She hadn't seemed to have bothered them at all, yet they treated her like this.

A moment later, Mo Lian brought over some food and invited her to come and eat.

Geng Miaowan got up and went to the table, but when she saw the food on the table, she immediately lost her appetite.

The food in the demon realm is different from that in the human realm. There are no stir-fries or rice dishes; their food is the essence of animals. However, Geng Miaowan's spiritual power was very weak in the past, so she was unable to concentrate her energy to absorb essence, and therefore she ate the spirits of animals.

Although it had been processed and wasn't left in a bloody mess, it was still hard for Geng Miaowan to swallow. Normally, demons could go for days without food or water, and those with high cultivation levels basically didn't need to eat at all.

Actually, she didn't feel hungry; she just had a psychological craving for food. But looking at the food before her, she wondered if she should leave the demon realm immediately.

The cultural differences are just too great, aren't they!

As Geng Miaowan was pondering this, Mo Lian's surprised voice came from behind her.

"Yeah, what is this?"

She turned around and saw a bead lying quietly where she had just slept. It was a pale purple and quite peculiar. What was this? She picked up the bead and examined it closely.

The bead seemed to sense the warmth of her hand, shimmering with a pale purple halo that carried a captivating, cool beauty. Luo Jiu'er remembered that the original owner of this body, Geng Miaowan, didn't possess a bead like this. Where did this come from?

A pale purple halo wrapped around her fingertips, and as it did, she felt something inside her body sensing it.

"This bead is even more crystal clear than the one the Second Princess obtained from Tuohai a few years ago. Princess, where did you get this bead?"

"Is that so?" Geng Miaowan glanced at the bead in her hand again; it had lost its glow. She then looked at Mo Lian, who seemed not to have seen the glow either.

Suddenly, the bead flashed with light. She remembered seeing the same light when she was burned. Then she lost consciousness and woke up here.

Could it be that……

As if sensing her thoughts, the bead flashed again. Suddenly, the image of those captivating purple eyes flashed through her mind, startling her so much that her hand trembled and the bead fell to the ground.

Geng Miaowan stared at the bead that had rolled to the ground for a while, then hesitantly picked it up. As soon as the bead was in her hand, it emitted a faint purple halo. She sat on the bed and looked at the bead carefully, a strange feeling rising within her.

She slowly closed her eyes, feeling the strange sensation in her body.

At first it was all darkness, but after a while she felt that her consciousness seemed to be much clearer, and her body felt a little different than usual, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what was different.

Gradually, she discovered that she could see the meridians all over her body, and they were incredibly clear. This feeling was novel; the original owner of the body had never encountered anything like it.

Then she saw a wisp of pale purple mist gathering in the lower abdomen, where her demon core should have been. The color was very similar to the color emitted by the beads in her hand. The mist seemed to be alive, pulsating rhythmically. She could sense an energy contained within it, though very weak, but it was clearly not something that belonged to her.

What could it be?

Geng Miaowan was very curious, as she had never had anything like this in her body before. She tried to touch the mist, but unexpectedly, a sharp shout of "How dare you!" came from within the mist.

Immediately afterwards, a surge of energy forced her consciousness out of her body, causing her blood and qi to churn in her chest.

"Huh?!" Geng Miaowan suddenly opened her eyes, staring at the bead rolling on the ground, her face momentarily at a loss for what expression to make. She thought she must have misheard; how could a sound come from the mist?

Just then, a commotion broke out outside, and Mo Lian rushed in, panting, "Oh no! Oh no! The Second Princess and the Third Prince are fighting..."

As Geng Miaowan stood up, she said, "How could they have started fighting? Weren't Second Sister and Third Sister sent by Father Emperor to do some work?" In her memory, the two of them had left Shanghai early on because they were afraid of being blamed by Zuo Lengdan if the incident came to light.

Mo Lian looked at Geng Miaowan strangely, "Princess, you've been sitting with that bead for five days straight, while the Second Princess and the Third Princess have already returned."

"What?! Five days!" Geng Miaowan jumped out of bed. How could this be? It felt like only a short while had passed, how could five days have gone by? She vaguely felt that her body had undergone some changes since her rebirth.

This change might be related to the purple mist within her body, or even to the bead in her hand, but there wasn't much time to investigate now. Because Zuo Lengdan was being sent to the Demon Realm by Gongye Hong tomorrow, she needed to see her before she left.
