Even hybrid monsters have their day
Chapter 212 Observation
Of course, before going home, he took her to change her clothes. After being stared at all morning, he felt that was enough. At her request, he bought her two more sets of clothes and some daily necessities, stating that it would be deducted from her salary.
Fortunately, it's summer now, and clothes aren't too expensive if you don't buy anything fancy, otherwise I don't know if her salary would even cover the deductions. To make it easier to stay in touch, he also bought her a cell phone, although it's not a new model, it's still perfectly adequate for everyday use.
When Geng Miaowan asked him whether this would deduct from his salary, he said that if he performed well, it could be considered a bonus.
She chuckled to herself, realizing that clinging to the right person was definitely the right thing to do.
Upon entering the house, Peng Yuxian said, "Lunch was too rushed, so just cook me a bowl of noodles. I'll stir-fry a few dishes for dinner," and went straight to his study.
"Huh?" Geng Miaowan didn't understand what was going on.
Peng Yuxian turned around, raising an eyebrow. She realized he really loved making that gesture. "Being my assistant means you have to be responsible for my meals. If not..." He pointed to the door, meaning he should leave from there.
Geng Miaowan gave a flattering smile, "Okay~ I didn't say no, why are you in such a hurry?" Fortunately, cooking was no problem for her.
He didn't say anything more, gave her a cryptic look, and went into the study.
Watching the study door open and close again, Geng Miaowan shrugged and began to look around.
The spacious living room and open kitchen are predominantly gray with touches of white and black. The decor is simple, but the materials used all appear to be of high quality, giving the entire living room a cool and sophisticated feel, which suits Peng Yuxian's personality quite well.
She went to the refrigerator and used the ingredients inside to make two bowls of tomato and egg noodles.
Peng Yuxian has a bad temper, but he's not picky about food. After taking a bite, he finished the whole bowl of noodles without saying a word, and then his gaze softened.
And so, Geng Miaowan settled down in Peng Yuxian's den.
The next morning, the two went to the kindergarten in Xinglin Town again. Peng Yuxian asked the principal to temporarily arrange for Geng Miaowan to become Lu Shuaishuai's class teacher, so that she would have more opportunities to get close to him, while he himself would observe Lu Shuaishuai's reactions from where the children couldn't see him.
He had something to do in the afternoon and went back to the city first. Geng Miaowan didn't take the bus home until kindergarten let out, and it was almost dark when she got home. Peng Yuxian hadn't returned yet.
She used the money he gave her to buy groceries and cooked a meal for herself.
After dinner, she told Peng Yuxian about what she had observed at the kindergarten that day. The two discussed it and found that it was all useless stuff. Then they took showers and went to bed.
Geng Miaowan found it a bit strange. Peng Yuxian wasn't exactly a stranger to her; their encounters across several spaces had made them practically old acquaintances. Even so, she still occasionally felt a little awkward when they were alone together. But she should be a complete stranger to Peng Yuxian, so why did he act so casually? He didn't seem to feel any inconvenience or embarrassment at all about having another person suddenly in his house.
She felt that his brain structure might be different from that of ordinary people.
Later she learned that Peng Yuxian seemed indifferent to everything except work. This was evident from his indifferent glance when he learned she didn't have an ID card. Moreover, he usually lacked patience with everyone except his patients.
Of course, these are all for later.
Although she said she wanted to sleep, she wasn't actually sleepy. She opened the balcony door and sat down to meditate. She found that the effects of cultivating in this kind of restricted space were several times better than in a normal space, so she didn't waste any time.
The next day she went to kindergarten again. And then she repeated almost the same routine as the day before.
After a few days, she felt that this was the most leisurely life she had lived since she was reincarnated into this body, and she had a feeling that she had returned to the life she had before she died.
However, Lu Shuaishuai was very vigilant and had a strong psychological defense. No matter what she did, he wouldn't say a word to her, especially when Geng Miaowan mentioned Xiaoming. He immediately looked at her warily and stopped speaking.
In about ten days, she found almost nothing of value.
Meanwhile, Peng Yuxian wasn't idle either. He studied various data and drew on the successful experiences of his peers, but still couldn't get Lu Shuaishuai to talk, or even figure out the cause of Lu Shuaishuai's series of problems.
Peng Yuxian came home early today. He sat in the living room looking at documents and waiting for Geng Miaowan to finish cooking.
When Peng Yuxian arrived at the dining table, his first question was, "Did you make any discoveries today?"
He wasn't much of a talker to begin with, and although Geng Miaowan wasn't exactly a man of few words, she couldn't find many other topics to discuss with someone who hadn't said a word all day. So the only thing they could talk about was Lu Shuaishuai's problem, and the only time they could talk was during dinner.
Geng Miaowan placed the soup on the table and, while carrying it out, said, "I was just about to tell you something. Today I discovered something strange, something that may have always existed, but we've all overlooked it."
Peng Yuxian glanced at her indifferently, "The important thing."
"The main point is that during our activities and games today, I accidentally stood in front of Lu Shuaishuai twice. He got very angry, took his umbrella, moved to a different spot, and continued squatting."
She took out two bowls, filled one with rice and placed it in front of him, then filled another for herself. Her movements appeared extremely natural.
Peng Yuxian picked up his bowl, took a bite of rice, and said, "You call this a discovery? If someone else were blocking your way, wouldn't you move away?" He looked at her as if she were an idiot.
"I wanted to see if his action was accidental, so I pretended to stand in front of where he was squatting several times later, and he got up and moved away immediately each time."
He looked up at her indifferently, "What do you want to say?"
"I think that since he can react to the outside world so quickly, it means that he did not, as you said, immerse himself in a fantasy world."
Geng Miaowan's eyes sparkled as she looked at him; this discovery thrilled her. Having spent so much time with Lu Shuaishuai lately, she had developed a deep interest in his story and was eager to know what could have caused a child to become like that.
Peng Yuxian's handsome eyebrows furrowed slightly. Whenever he did this, it meant he was either about to get angry or deep in thought.
She thought for a moment and then said, "There's another phenomenon that I've been observing for several days, but I'm still not sure. However, it seems to be true now."
"Point."
"It's just that every time Lu Shuaishuai squats on the playground, he's always facing away from the sun," Geng Miaowan said, picking up a bite of food. "Do you think there might be a reason for that?" (To be continued.)
