"Cough cough..." Xu Ruwen coughed twice unnaturally.

"What's wrong?" She glanced at him casually and continued, "Well, this is a matter of great importance concerning the lives of countless beings in both realms. How can we make a decision so easily? And even if it really was a human cultivator who killed that woman, the demon leader shouldn't take his anger out on the entire human realm. Those who died for no reason were so innocent; they might have been someone else's lover."

Xu Ruwen tugged at her sleeve, signaling her to stop talking, leaving her completely bewildered.

At this moment, Huangfu Aoran suddenly burst out laughing, "Luan Hao, look, you're not even as good as a little girl."

"What do you mean by that?" Geng Miaowan looked at Huangfu Aoran in confusion, not understanding why he would suddenly say such a thing.

The latter simply gave her an ambiguous smile and said, "You decide for yourself."

"Damn, why are all these people acting so strangely today?" But then she suddenly realized something, her eyes widened as she pointed at Luan Hao, and said with a trembling voice, "That boss...could it be...him?"

She was so caught up in her own rant that she forgot Luan Hao was the Demon King. Remember how he said he'd been imprisoned in the Desolate Realm for a thousand years? Wasn't he the Demon King a thousand years ago?

At that moment, she really wished she could become invisible and disappear from their sight.

Huangfu Aoran and Xu Ruwen nodded simultaneously. Geng Miaowan quickly chuckled awkwardly, her beautiful eyes darting left and right before finally settling on Xu Ruwen. She quickly changed the subject, "I remember you said before that the Nine-Tailed Fox royal family was also wiped out in that battle, what's that about?"

"Well..." Xu Ruwen thought for a moment and said, "That's another story."

His expression at that moment made Geng Miaowan feel that it was a huge waste of his talent not to become a storyteller.

Just then, a commotion arose outside; the clamor of footsteps and the chaotic voices indicated that this night was destined to be anything but peaceful.

"What is it?" Geng Miaowan came out of her room and asked one of the inn's staff.

The waiter hurriedly said, "Sir, please don't be alarmed. It's just disciples from the Green Mountain Sect coming down the mountain for a routine inspection. Things have been a bit turbulent lately, but luckily we're right here at the foot of the Green Mountain Sect. Master Miao sends his disciples down from the mountain to check things out in town every now and then to ensure the safety of our Green Mountain Town."

"I see..." she said, letting go of her hand.

The waiter bowed to her. "Sir, you can go back to your room and rest. If anyone knocks on the door and asks you anything, just give them a few words in response."

Geng Miaowan nodded, and the waiter quickly ran downstairs.

She turned around, took two steps, then turned back and headed towards the room on the left, telling her that disciples from the Green Mountain Sect would be coming to investigate her soon.

Although Zuo Lengdan was seriously injured, her cultivation level was high enough that she could still conceal her aura in front of several ordinary disciples. Therefore, she wasn't too worried. The reason she came to check on her was just to be on the safe side.

She asked Xu Ruwen to inform Qiu Pi to be prepared, lest the secret be exposed. He returned shortly afterward with a grave expression. "I couldn't find Qiu Pi. Today, the leader is Yin Qianze from the Green Mountain Sect, and the inn is surrounded by Green Mountain Sect disciples."

Geng Miaowan stood up, surprised, and said, "What? Yin Qianze? Why did he come down the mountain, and even lead the team himself?" She glanced at the door in confusion. Normally, such things would be done by junior disciples; given Yin Qianze's status, why would he need to do this?

He glanced meaningfully at Zuo Lengdan on the bed, then continued, "They're almost upstairs. What should we do? They said they came down the mountain to check things. But judging from their demeanor, it seems like they're looking for someone."

Geng Miaowan became even more anxious. It was obviously too late to leave now, and in her current state, it seemed unlikely that she could leave quietly without being discovered.

But what if he runs into Zuo Lengdan...?

She couldn't imagine the consequences.

Yin Qianze was arguably the most powerful cultivator in the Green Mountain Sect, even surpassing the former sect leader, Song Gan. If Zuo Lengdan hadn't been injured, she could have concealed her true abilities from him, but now she was severely wounded. Her magic might fool those with lower cultivation levels, but against Yin Qianze, she had little confidence.

Zuo Lengdan seemed to have thought of this as well. She struggled to sit up, but Geng Miaowan noticed and quickly went over to help her up.

“Wan’er…” Seeing Geng Miaowan looking at her, she took out a box from her bosom with some difficulty and handed it to her. “This is for you. If anything happens to me, take her to a man named Dongfang Liancheng and tell him what I told you. Tell him that he must join forces with all the cultivators in the world to fight against the demons and monsters.”

Geng Miaowan looked at the box with suspicion. "What is this?" And who is Dongfang Liancheng? She had never even heard of him. But there was no time for her to ask so many questions right now.

"Tianji Stone".

"What is Tianji Stone?" Suddenly, she remembered what Gongye Hong had said when he captured Zuo Lengdan, demanding that she hand over something. Her tone tightened abruptly. "Could it be what my father wants?"

Zuo Leng nodded, shoved the box into her arms, and said anxiously, "There's no time to explain now. Once you find Dongfang Liancheng, he'll tell you. Take this and leave here quickly. Don't let them find out you're with me."

Finally, she emphasized again, "This matter must not be told to anyone. You must personally hand the item to Dongfang Liancheng."

Geng Miaowan packed her things but didn't leave. "I'm not afraid of the people from the Green Mountain Sect." As she spoke, she glanced at Zuo Lengdan and saw that her already pale face had turned ashen with tension. "Don't worry, I will definitely find a way to save you."

Her eyes darted around the room, trying to think of a way to get Zuo Lengdan out of Yin Qianze's sight. Suddenly, a large wooden tub came into view.

"Have it!"

Yin Qianze led several disciples toward the last room on the second floor. At the door, he saw Xu Ruwen, who looked quite pleased with himself. Xu Ruwen greeted him first, seemingly oblivious to the disdain on his face.

"Good evening, Elder Yin." (To be continued.)
