Just then, a red mark caught his eye. He unconsciously stopped what he was doing, and a strange emotion flickered in his cold blue eyes, like waves crashing against the shore, churning and leaping.

These are... two neat rows of teeth marks, like a blooming plum blossom, resting on her collarbone. The color isn't very dark, and it looks like it hasn't been healed for long.

Qiu Pi stood there motionless, as if frozen in place. Not that he couldn't move, but he was completely paralyzed; his mind was blank from shock, and he had temporarily lost the ability to command.

"Who exactly are you..." he murmured.

It felt like an eternity before his hand trembled as he reached out to the mark, gently stroking it as if to confirm something. However, the moment his hand touched Geng Miaowan's collarbone, it was repelled by a burst of energy.

He paused for a moment, then suddenly remembered that when he rushed up, he seemed to have seen a fleeting glimpse of light purple in her eyes. The images in his mind slowly became clearer again, and there was no longer any restraint in her eyes as she looked at Geng Miaowan; there was something in them that even he himself did not yet understand.

“She needs medication.” He waved the medicine box in his hand, as if speaking to someone. This time, when he approached her body again, the energy did not reappear.

Having confirmed that things were exactly as he had guessed, Qiu Pi's lips pressed into a emotionless straight line in the darkness.

who are you?

He asked himself.

No matter who you are, I'm going to get you out of her body!

He said to himself.

When Geng Miaowan opened her eyes, she was already in the inn, with Huangfu Aoran and Xu Ruwen beside her. She shook her head to clear her somewhat groggy mind.

"How did I get here?" If she guessed correctly, this should already be Qingshan Town.

"Of course someone brought you here." It was Xu Ruwen who answered her, his usually gentle face unexpectedly cold today. Even Huangfu Aoran didn't give her a second glance.

"What's wrong with you two?" Geng Miaowan asked, puzzled. It seemed like she hadn't done anything, so why did they look at her as if she had committed some heinous crime?

"What's wrong? How dare you ask what's wrong?" Her words were like a fuse, instantly igniting Xu Ruwen's explosive temper. "Didn't you say he wouldn't harm you? Look at yourself now. If you die, who will compensate me with their life?"

Huangfu Aoran added, "And me too."

They had no idea about the relationship between Geng Miaowan and Gongye Hong. She spoke so confidently at the time, and they thought that since they were father and daughter, he shouldn't have hurt her so badly.

However, the reality is clearly not like that.

When they took the unconscious girl from Qiu Pi's arms, they couldn't quite describe their feelings. A strong sense of guilt, a feeling that they were the ones who had caused their master's injury, overwhelmed them.

Geng Miaowan wondered what it was all about, and upon hearing their words, she chuckled, "He didn't really hurt me, did he?"

She knew the extent of her injuries. Although the blow had hurt her terribly, to the point that she felt like all the bones in her body had been broken, it was actually just pain; there were no serious consequences.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have the energy to talk to them now.

Knowing that what she said was true, Xu Ruwen had no words to refute it, and only gave her a displeased glare.

Geng Miaowan didn't argue with them. She knew that although he said he was afraid her death would implicate them, she could sense a hint of concern in their expressions. She looked around. "By the way, where's Qiu Pi?"

"He went to see Miss Zuo."

"What?!" Geng Miaowan jumped up from the bed in shock, but the movement aggravated her wound and she fell back onto the bed. "How could you let him go to see the Left Protector!"

One was Gongye Hong's trusted subordinate. The other was a former subordinate who had escaped from Gongye Hong's clutches. How could these two people possibly meet?

Xu Ruwen and Huangfu Aoran exchanged bewildered glances. Both of them were from the demon realm, and moreover, they were superior and subordinate. What reason did they have to prevent him from seeing her?

Despite the pain in her body, Geng Miaowan arrived at Zuo Lengdan's door and found the room quiet, as if no one was inside. She held her breath and pressed her ear to her ear, but there was still no sound.

He wondered if he was too late and that they had already finished fighting.

She focused her attention and leaned forward again. The door creaked open from the inside, and a slightly cool breeze wafted out.

"What are you doing?" Qiu Pi's voice rang out from above her head.

"Ah?" Geng Miaowan quickly stood up. "Uh... I just happened to be passing by." She pretended to look around casually, then glanced towards the house. Seeing that Zuo Lengdan's expression wasn't good, she quickly ran over and asked, "Protector Zuo, are you alright?"

Zuo Lengdan coughed repeatedly, unable to even speak. Seeing this, Geng Miaowan turned to Qiu Pi, who was still standing at the door, and asked, "What did you do to Protector Zuo?"

Qiu Pi raised an eyebrow slightly, a flicker of anger he himself didn't understand flashing through his mind. He took a deep breath and said in a normal tone, "What can I do to her?"

"Why would she act like this if you didn't do anything?"

Her clearly disbelieving tone made his expression change. He turned around, coldly tossed out, "What she does is none of my business," and left.

Geng Miaowan wanted to chase after him to argue, but Zuo Lengdan stopped her. She coughed for a while before catching her breath and said, "It has nothing to do with Commander Qiu, it's my own injury..."

After glancing at Qiu Pi's departing figure, Geng Miaowan turned back to Zuo Lengdan and asked, "Left Protector, what exactly happened? Why did my father want to kill you?"

Zuo Lengdan's already pale face turned even more bloodless. She withdrew her gaze from Geng Miaowan's face and looked at a certain spot in the air. After a long while, just when Geng Miaowan thought she wouldn't answer her, she spoke, "It's better if you don't know about this, so you don't get involved."

"That's as good as saying nothing at all," Geng Miaowan thought, somewhat exasperated. She looked at Zuo Lengdan, who remained as beautiful as ever after all these years. Her pale complexion didn't diminish her beauty; instead, it added a touch of fragility. (To be continued.)
