I really am a fortune teller

Chapter 1 God-Level Fortune Teller System

As the sun set, Wei Chen was playing a mobile game on his newly bought phone, controlling Lu Ban's short legs as he limped towards the river.

Just then, he suddenly saw a line of transparent white text appear in front of him: "God-level fortune teller system has been bound and successfully activated. Skill: Divine Prophecy has been obtained."

"Divine Prophecy: It can accurately determine the success rate of a matter, with no limit on the number of times it can be used and no skill cooldown."

Wei Chen rubbed his eyes in surprise, thinking he had misread it. But after the text disappeared, he asked with a puzzled look, "What is a divine prophecy? What is a god-level fortune teller system? I, Wei Chen, have been in this parallel world for three years, and it has finally activated the system for me. But the name is too lame."

"What exactly does this divine prophecy mean?" Wei Chen asked, puzzled. Suddenly, an idea struck him, and he asked, "What are my chances of winning this game?"

80%

A number appeared before Wei Chen's eyes, flashing with white light.

Wei Chen then understood what it meant.

He suddenly laughed: "If I throw my ultimate into the river, will I get a kill?"

100%

Wei Chen didn't hesitate any longer and threw his ultimate skill towards the river.

Then a notification came from the phone: Star has killed the player.

"Holy crap, is it really that accurate?" Wei Chen's eyes widened.

In this world, he is also a member of the Yin-Yang family and cultivates the Dao. The only difference is that in the original world, he was a genius of the Yin-Yang family, but now he is a useless person who cannot even break through to the second-star fortune teller level.

However, although the Yin-Yang Clan and the Taoist sect have grown exceptionally powerful in this world, ordinary people are not necessarily without a way to survive. In his previous life, Wei Chen lived a very tiring life, spending every day either cultivating or catching ghosts.

So for the first three years after his transmigration, Wei Chen was almost a happy homebody. It wasn't until he graduated from university that his father allowed him to enter the Star Pavilion and become a member of the family's first-star fortune teller.

However, because fortune tellers receive a salary, Wei Chen has always been idle. His monthly earnings are less than a fraction of those unrated fortune tellers'. Those unrated fortune tellers, while lacking real skills, are adept at convincing others.

Wei Chen hugged his phone and laughed heartily: "I'm rich now."

"What are you talking about?" A voice suddenly came from behind. Wei Chen turned around and saw Zhou Bapi, the owner of Xingchen Pavilion, standing behind him with his hands behind his back, his fat body trembling: "Wei Chen, Wei Chen, look at you! How many orders have you completed this month? You haven't earned a single penny. Although Xingchen Pavilion is owned by your Wei family, it's not a charity. It can't support a few idle people!"

Once Zhou Bapi starts his verbal sparring, it's never-ending.

"Wei Chen, I know it's a pity you can't break through, but those other unstarred fortune tellers in the pavilion are doing just fine, aren't they? They know how to talk, unlike you, all you do is play games all day." Zhou Bapi trembled with anger: "If you don't want to go out and do missions, it would be good to cultivate. Look at Lin Xueyao, she's already a three-star fortune teller at such a young age, and look at you?"

Wei Chen hung his head and muttered softly, "Lin Xueyao is also my wife."

Zhou Bapi didn't hear him clearly: "What did you say?"

"It's nothing," Wei Chen said quickly. In the year after graduating from university, he was constantly nagged by Zhou Bapi, so he knew the old man's tricks well. If he accidentally interrupted this guy's rant, who knew what kind of nonsense this guy would say.

So, while Zhou Bapi kept nagging, Wei Chen could only hang his head and peck at the rice like a chicken, to show that he had taken Zhou Bapi's words to heart.

Just as Zhou Bapi was putting his verbal skills to good use, a scream suddenly came from outside: "You bunch of liars! You've been working on the thing I asked you to do for two months and you still haven't finished! I'm going to sue you!"

Zhou Bapi trembled with fear, his face turning pale. He quickly told Wei Chen, "No matter what, if you have zero sales this month, get the hell out of Xingchen Pavilion."

After he finished speaking, he turned and ran away.

But this fat man was simply too heavy; over 400 pounds of fat wasn't so easy to get rid of. He had only taken two steps when a woman grabbed him by the ear. Then, with a spin and a jump, the woman flipped her hand slightly and tossed the 400-pound Zhou Bapi (a notorious skinflint) onto the armchair.

This woman's name was Li Lijiao, the first wife of the richest man in Xihe Town, and she was quite shrewd. Li Lijiao had one foot on the armchair, and her sky-high heels were only a centimeter away from Zhou Bapi's manhood, which terrified Zhou Bapi so much that he broke out in a cold sweat: "Big sister, no, no, no, Aunt, no, you are my mother... Mother, why are you here again?"

Li Lijiao came to the shop half a year ago, always wanting to find out who the shameless mistress who seduced her husband was. Unfortunately, Li Lijiao's husband, Mo Chunyu, was also a customer of Xingchen Pavilion, and a big customer at that. Compared to Mo Chunyu, Li Lijiao naturally wouldn't offend him.

So Zhou Bapi, thinking himself clever, sent out two fortune tellers without any special skills to completely fool Li Lijiao. They had her draw talismans, perform rituals, and buy a bunch of random magical artifacts—more like counterfeit goods from antique stalls on the street than actual artifacts. This allowed Zhou Bapi to make a fortune and also keep the woman under his thumb.

But starting last month, I don't know where this woman heard it from, she came to cause trouble almost every week. Last week, Wei Chen remembered that Zhou Bapi tricked this girl back with a pair of jade lions. This time it was not a trick used by the starless fortune tellers to deceive people. It was something blessed by a two-star fortune teller, so it would still be somewhat effective.

Why is it happening again this month?

No sooner had Zhou Bapi finished speaking than the burly old woman pulled a pile of broken jade stones from her pink purse and threw them at Zhou Bapi's face. Pointing at his neck, she yelled, "Look at what you sold me! You said it was a treasure to suppress evil spirits in the inner quarters, but this thing turned into a pile of dust in less than a month, softer than plaster! How dare you lie to me?"

As Li Lijiao spoke, she threw all the stone powder in the bag onto Zhou Bapi.

Zhou Bapi was now spitting out dust as he spoke: "How would I know? This stuff was blessed by a two-star fortune teller; it's definitely effective."

Wei Chen watched the commotion from the sidelines, but he also figured out what was going on. He thought to himself, "Could it be that a magical battle caused the jade lion to shatter?"

100%

"Then this person must be the fortune teller that Mo Chunyu found."

100%

"So the fortune teller Mo Chunyu found was from the Star Pavilion?"

0%

It wasn't from the Star Pavilion after all. It seems that old bastard has found a new fortune teller. This is getting interesting. Thinking of this, Wei Chen couldn't help but smile.

Zhou Bapi usually doesn't treat other fortune tellers well, and when he's in a verbal sparring mode, he's quick to criticize everyone and everything. But when faced with Li Lijiao, whose violence and anger levels are off the charts, he's completely helpless and gets berated into submission.

Zhou Bapi looked up and saw Wei Chen's smiling face. He was furious and suddenly jumped up, startling Li Lijiao. Zhou Bapi took three steps in two and walked up to Wei Chen, grabbing his hand: "Ms. Li, we have another trump card that we haven't used yet. Once this person takes action, he will definitely solve your problem. This person is Wei Chen. He is a member of the Wei family and a direct descendant."

Wei Chen cursed inwardly, but his face remained calm and composed, showing no fear whatsoever.
