I finally escaped and crawled into the bushes. All I had to do was walk out of there to get to the crooked tree, but to my surprise, I got lost.

I still got lost in the grass. Even getting lost was so embarrassing. I almost cried. But after I found out why the soldier was chasing after some kind of scent, I realized that he was trying to find out.

Why do you have to look for the smell when you can just climb the grass to see the road? I'm speechless.

Fortunately, the soldier wasn't a stubborn ant; he quickly went up to find the way and led me out.

But just after we came out and saw that crooked tree, a majestic voice suddenly appeared, which made us tremble immediately. Could something have happened?

We quickly looked toward the source of the sound and saw a group of soldier ants staring at us nervously at our strange combination.

An ant carrying two maggots—such a strange combination, even the ant that blocked our way probably didn't expect it, right?

"We're here to see the Queen, please don't get agitated," the soldier said anxiously.

This is similar to an ant encounter between two tribes. It's not convenient to take action before figuring things out, as this involves tribal disputes.

"Ah, so you're the last few who haven't returned. We've all been waiting for you. It'll be great if you're all here." An ant-like figure, who looked like the leader, walked up and said gently.

"That would be very kind of you. Please lead the way," the soldier said politely.

"Come with us." The ants that were there to greet us led the way.

Before long we arrived at the base of the crooked tree, and there we saw the ant in the lead climbing straight up the trunk.

Looking at the tall tree trunk and the crooked tree that seemed to stretch as far as the eye could see, I was completely overwhelmed. How was I supposed to climb it?

After the ants climbed up, they realized we weren't following, so they turned around and asked, "What's wrong?"

I looked at the straight tree with a bitter expression and said awkwardly, "I can't climb up there."

Although I can climb the foxtail grass, it doesn't mean I can climb the tree that looks like a cliff.

It's like asking an ordinary person who's really good at climbing trees to climb a cliff with absolutely no safety measures; the visual effect alone would terrify you.

I was completely terrified when faced with that tall, crooked tree. How was I supposed to climb it? Even if I could, I wouldn't dare. What if I fell halfway down?

Seeing my embarrassment, the ants seemed to remember something and said apologetically, "We forgot you can't climb trees. In that case, I'll take you to the elevator."

After saying that, the lead ant slowly crawled towards us.

Wow, they even have elevators? Seriously? Have ants gotten this high-tech? They even have elevators? This is defying the heavens!

"Is there an elevator? That's great!" I said gratefully.

"Come on, follow us." The lead ant led us to the other side of the big tree.

Although this crooked tree wasn't very big, it was still a tree, and it was at least as thick as an adult's thigh, though that might not seem like much to humans.

But for an ant, that's huge; it's practically a colossal creature.

So when we came to the other side of that crooked tree, we saw a hole in the tree. The hole looked unusually clean, like the entrance to some kind of hole.

After the ant led us to the tree hole, we went inside.

I looked at that tree hole, and it looked so dangerous. Could it be a snake hole? Even if it's just a mouse hole, that wouldn't be good either.

"Is it safe inside?" I asked, quite frightened. This tree hollow looked dangerous no matter how I looked at it.

"I don't think so?" the soldier said hesitantly.

The ant leading the group seemed to have overheard our conversation and turned around to explain, "Don't worry, there's no danger here. This is our passageway for carrying food."

Since they've already said that, if we don't go in, it would seem like we don't trust them enough. If they get angry, that wouldn't be good either, since we're here to seek refuge.

It's not good to offend people.

So we gritted our teeth and went in, hoping there was really no danger inside.

We slowly walked in, and once inside, we discovered that it was far better than I had imagined.

The tree hollow had been completely hollowed out, resembling a five-star hall. It was not damp or dark at all, but rather spacious and comfortable.

The surrounding area was filled with glowing plants, which illuminated the hall and prevented it from feeling so dark and oppressive.

Just as I was looking around in surprise, I suddenly heard a ding.

I quickly looked toward the sound and saw a large wooden plank in the middle of a tree hole not far away, with yarn threaded around its edges.

This kept the plank balanced. All the yarn from the four corners was pulled towards the center, where it finally gathered and tied into a knot. Then, a single, invisible thread from the top suspended the plank.

Everyone keeps talking about yarn, but few people really know what yarn is.

Actually, the yarn is the same yarn used for knitting sweaters. In rural areas, the sweaters worn by men are usually knitted by their wives stitch by stitch, which not only keeps them warm but also warms their hearts.

Nowadays, it's rare to find sweaters like those; most people just buy them. While store-bought sweaters are convenient, they lack a certain something—a feeling of family and care.

Looking at the yarn, I suddenly remembered that when I was little, I often wore the sweaters my mother knitted for me. Although they weren't as pretty as store-bought sweaters, the warmth they provided was something that store-bought sweaters could never match.

I never imagined I could see yarn here, and it reminded me of my mother. I was completely stunned and lost in my memories.

"Twenty-two cents? Twenty-two cents?" Dafu called out anxiously.

"Huh? What's wrong?" I quickly snapped out of my reverie and asked.

"We're on the elevator, we're going up now, let's go."

"Oh, okay." Only then did I realize that everyone else had gotten onto the plank, while I was still standing there like an idiot.

I quickly climbed up the plank.
