Zombies, humans, or something else? That's a question worth exploring! Li Kai stroked his chin, pondering with great interest.

At first, I was very resistant to crystal cores; I even remember choking on one once. But when did it start?

Not-so-distant memories slowly surfaced in Li Kai's mind; come to think of it, it seemed to have started from that time...

What exactly happened to me back then? Although I tried my best not to think about what happened that day, my body underwent some unknown changes after I woke up from the blood cocoon.

He felt like the answer was buried in his head, but why couldn't it come out? Li Kai clutched his head in anguish. He was clearly only a thin membrane away from the final solution, but it felt like an insurmountable chasm that he couldn't cross!

How frustrating! What have I forgotten?! His face, lost in thought, has become contorted, and the pent-up frustration in his heart is growing stronger, as if he has fallen into a demonic state.

"If you can't figure it out, don't think about it." A cool voice echoed in Li Kai's ears. "You'll remember eventually."

A cool little hand covered his face, and a refreshing fragrance gently soothed the restlessness in his heart.

"Huh? I..." Li Kai suddenly opened his eyes, his forehead covered in large beads of sweat. That was really dangerous!

"He really is a handful," Xueying sighed softly as she looked at Li Kai, who had returned to normal.

"Isn't there you here?" Looking at the amusing expression on the girl's face in his arms, Li Kai couldn't help but gently pinch her nose; she was petite and adorable.

"Ugh, don't touch me like that!" Xueying slapped the wicked hand away without any politeness, but her tone sounded more like a coquettish pout!

"Thank you so much for earlier." Li Kai, completely unconcerned, put his arm around the girl's waist, buried his face in the back of her head, and gently inhaled the fragrance of her hair.

No matter who I am, at least for now I'm fortunate to have you by my side.

"It's alright," Xueying replied, her face flushed, her rosy cheeks as beautiful as the sunset, and the look in her eyes becoming even gentler.

Time seemed to stand still, the scene frozen in this tranquil moment, a heartwarming instant.

However, there are always troublemakers like this whenever things happen, and this time was no exception.

"Speaking of which, what are your plans for the future?" Seeing the two embracing, Furong asked at the opportune moment, "Although I know you two are very much in love, please be mindful of the occasion."

"Huh?!" Xueying suddenly realized, and the blush on her face became even more intense, as if she were about to be cooked.

"Cough cough, please, do you have to be so disrespectful?!" Li Kai shouted, baring his teeth, as the shy girl almost pinched the soft flesh around his waist off.

"There's nothing I can do. I don't want to do this either, but time waits for no one," Furong said innocently, waving her hand and explaining in a harmless manner.

"Although I know what you said makes a lot of sense, I still can't accept it!" Li Kai clenched his fists angrily. The atmosphere he had worked so hard to create was gone in an instant, not to mention that the old lady in his arms had already started to throw a tantrum.

Furong glanced at Xueying nestled in his arms, then suddenly realized and said, "Oh, it's okay, a little coaxing will make it alright. Girls who fall head over heels in love are just silly, you know."

"Yeah, right!" Feeling the girl trembling in his arms, Li Kai quickly corrected her, "I'm not that kind of person!"

"Hey, I'm telling the truth, why don't you believe me?!" Feeling the stinging pain in his waist, Li Kai couldn't help but shout.

"Hmph!" That was the only response he received.

Seeing Li Kai's flustered movements, Furong covered her mouth and laughed, "What an interesting pair of people."

"Idiot, if you keep doing this, I'm going to get rough!" Li Kai grabbed the little hand that was attacking him and said angrily.

Xueying turned her head away and snorted coldly with utter disdain, "Hmph!"

"Ugh!! I'm so angry! Today I'm going to show you what I'm capable of!" Feeling that his personality had been greatly insulted, Li Kai finally couldn't help but want to regain his manly prowess.

"Snap!" The crisp sound echoed gently in the quiet world, a sound so distant and thought-provoking.

Startled by the sudden attack, Xueying clutched her aching spot in a panic, tears welling up in her eyes. She pouted and nestled directly into Li Kai's chest.

Looking at the girl nestled in his arms, Li Kai let out a long sigh of relief. Really, did I have to resort to this move?

Although there's nothing to be proud of!

After watching the exciting performance, Furong asked seriously, "Enough teasing you. Getting back to the point, what are your plans for the future?"

"What are your plans?" Li Kai looked at the girl curled up in his arms and casually shook his head. "I don't have any specific plans yet."

"I see. Then could you do us a favor?"

"Help? Do you need help?" Li Kai looked at the smiling woman in front of him with suspicion. Although she was a little mentally unstable, she was very intelligent, at least much more so than the one in his arms.

"Don't worry so much, I won't do anything bad to you."

"It's weird to believe you!"

"Didn't you notice that the number of zombies in this building is a bit abnormal?" Seeing that Li Kai didn't react, Fu Rong had no choice but to throw out an enticing topic.

"Weren't they all wiped out by you?" A hint of curiosity finally appeared on Li Kai's face.

“How could that be! It wasn’t here when we arrived,” Furong said, then abruptly stopped.

Listening to this half-finished story, Li Kai frowned, and finally waved his hand helplessly, saying, "Okay, you win! Continue."

"Actually, this is why I wanted your help. The vast majority of the zombies are gathered on the top floor, and there's a huge one hiding there. That's why we broke through the floor to escape, but we didn't expect it to be so flimsy."

"I'm so sorry!"

"What do you mean by 'big guys'? And what are you planning to do?"

"I didn't get a clear look at it, but it's probably an infected creature. As for us, of course we'll eliminate it," Hibiscus casually mentioned a very important matter.

"Nonsense, you guys were probably taken down by someone else, how could you possibly eliminate them?" Li Kai said with a look of disdain.

"I really can't do anything with you guys!" Li Kai irritably rubbed his hair. "Let's make this clear beforehand: if there's any danger, I'll run away in advance."

"No problem, just leave the escape route to us!"
