My Apocalypse: Infinite Rewinds

Chapter 71: Taking the wrong path again.

"Don't you feel scared here?" Yu Ruoxue gripped Li Kai's sleeve tightly, her trembling body fully revealing her inner fear.

"It should be fine, it's just a bit dim," Li Kai explained uncertainly, but the scene before him was truly unsettling. Seriously, does this attitude sound like a consolation?

Bloodstains were everywhere, some still wet, some long dried, and bone fragments were scattered about. The dim lights flickered, interspersed with eerie howls. Even inside the car, one could feel the oppressive atmosphere; this was a place of corpses.

"Having just escaped one danger, I'm not about to fall into another!" Li Kai, covered in cold sweat, surveyed his surroundings. There was only one path he could take, so he hadn't paid much attention to it, but it seemed his choice had been wrong again!

"Hey, it's so dark up ahead, shall we go back?" Yu Ruoxue asked softly, her icy little hands seemingly frozen.

"No! Absolutely not. There might still be a chance up ahead, but if we go back, there will be no chance of survival at all." Li Kai decisively rejected the girl's request. There was a Licker waiting for them behind them; wouldn't that be sending them to their deaths?

"But how are we supposed to get out of here?" Yu Ruoxue cried out anxiously. The oppressive atmosphere made it impossible to feel at ease.

"It's okay, as long as we stay in the car, we're safe." Li Kai himself was extremely unsure of himself when he said this, after all, who knew what awaited them ahead?

"Boom!" Right after Li Kai finished speaking, the car suddenly and mysteriously stopped working. Wow, that's really too kind of them! I had just finished speaking!

"Seriously? Are you kidding me?!" Li Kai pounded the steering wheel angrily as he stared at the zero fuel gauge. How could he have missed it before? "You can't play games like this!"

"Is Arno going out next?" Yu Ruoxue whispered to Li Kai, looking pitiful.

"Uh, you don't want to?" Li Kai turned to look at her with a dark expression.

"Yes, yes!!" Yu Ruoxue nodded vigorously; she definitely didn't want to go out doing something like this!

"Alright! I'll go out and check things out first. If everything's alright, I'll come back to you." Li Kai gritted his teeth, forcibly suppressing the fear in his heart. As the pillar of support, he couldn't collapse at this crucial moment!

"No, that's too dangerous." Yu Ruoxue looked at Li Kai, who was about to leave, and reluctantly tugged at his sleeve, her face showing worry.

"Don't worry, I definitely won't die! She'll protect you if anything happens!" Li Kai patted the girl's hand and comforted her with a smile.

"It can't be that unlucky, maybe I'm just scaring myself!" Li Kai kept trying to hypnotize himself as he stepped out of the car, but he still felt that everything around him was not a safe place.

The chilling wind, howling in the cold, contrasted sharply with the sweltering summer heat, its biting coldness seemingly capable of freezing the soul, carrying a deep malice and resentment towards the world.

"It's so cold! What's going on here? Holy crap, it's even frozen over!" Li Kai walked along, looking at the icicles in the shadows beside him. The scene before him was truly shocking.

"Hmm? There's light ahead!" Li Kai, who was walking forward with trepidation, looked excitedly at the beam of light ahead. It seemed that he wasn't always so unlucky!

Young man, you can't just raise a flag like that so casually!

"Gulp!" Li Kai, standing in the light, swallowed slightly, then froze on the spot.

"Okay, I admit it. I must have done something that angered both heaven and man, or it must be something from my past life!" Li Kai muttered to himself as he looked at the scene before him.

As for why he looks so utterly despondent now? Well, I'm sure you won't ask that question once you see what's ahead.

"Roar!" What came into view was a dark mass of zombies, all gathered in this huge concave pit. They wandered aimlessly, and every now and then a few would gather together and kneel on the ground to gnaw on the rotting corpses. Tearfuls of flesh and blood remained on their yellowish-green teeth, and the stench of decay permeated the air.

"Don't disturb them, slowly walk back!" After seeing everything clearly, Li Kai carefully walked back. It seemed better to go back. Although that guy was also terrifying, there was still a way to deal with him.

"Splash!" Unfortunately, things don't always go as planned. As Li Kai stepped back, a small pebble quietly slid down below, its crisp sound echoing through the empty valley. Even a thunderclap on a calm day couldn't describe the sound.

"Roar!!" The zombies, with their extremely sensitive hearing, instantly focused their gaze upwards, countless blood-red eyes fixed on Li Kai as he moved backwards, like a vast expanse of infrared light focused on him.

"What bad luck!" Li Kai stared awkwardly at the zombies staring at him, trying his best to increase his intimidation, but there were just too many of them, and his momentum was completely suppressed!

"How can anyone's aura overwhelm so many zombies!" Li Kai, who was being suppressed, felt hopeless. Why did he always encounter such a situation, with no chance of survival?

"No, there's still hope! They shouldn't be able to get up here!" Looking at the horde of zombies that was far away from him, Li Kai kept reassuring himself that at least there was still some hope.

As if understanding Li Kai's thoughts, the zombies roared and placed one zombie ladder after another on top of it, and then the remaining zombies ran down from above in an orderly fashion.

"What the hell? Zombies have this kind of intelligence? Are you kidding me?!" Looking at the zombie hurtling towards him, Li Kai suddenly wanted to slap himself. Serves you right for being so foul-mouthed and spouting nonsense! It seems like he was the one who was truly naive!

"Damn it, we don't even know the exact time here. Forget it, it definitely can't be until the next day!" Li Kai looked at the dark and gloomy surroundings, then at the cars behind him, and finally made up his mind.

"Whether it's the world's self-correction or the anomalies of parallel worlds, no one can stop me from doing what I want to do!! No matter what you are?!" Li Kai stared firmly ahead, then resolutely rushed down, breaking through layers of zombies and leaping into the giant pit.

"If you want to eat me, then come on!!" the boy standing in the horde of corpses shouted.

"Roar!!" The dark horde of corpses instantly engulfed Li Kai as he charged down, leaving only traces of blood on the ground in no time.

"My chest hurts so much!" Yu Ruoxue clutched her chest, staring painfully at the spot where Li Kai had just left. Her voice suddenly went silent, and why did it hurt so much here?!

I am Li Kai. If the future is destined to be unchangeable, then what is my value? Since I possess the ability to rewind infinitely, I will absolutely not allow tragedy to happen before me, even if it means countless deaths to gain that sliver of hope. (P.S.: I kind of miss the feeling of being eaten by zombies!)
