My Apocalypse: Infinite Rewinds

Chapter 19 If you don't court death, you won't die.

After tidying up the table, Li Kai yawned, marking another unwavering afternoon nap.

"Woof woof," Little White wisely ran to the side and didn't bother Li Kai anymore.

Before long, a distinct snoring sound began to echo from the room.

"Woof!" Looking at Li Kai, who had already fallen asleep, Xiao Bai first shook its head in confusion, then kicked its legs and jumped directly onto the door, easily opening it.

"Waaah~~" Xiaobai looked back at Li Kai, her eyes revealing a hint of reluctance, but in the end she resolutely stepped out of the room.

"Roar!" On the third floor, the infected zombies were wandering aimlessly when a black figure swiftly darted down from upstairs.

"Woof!" A terrifying roar was heard, and then Xiaobai pounced on a zombie. Its sharp claws easily pierced the zombie's flesh, and its sharp teeth quickly pierced the zombie's throat.

"Sizzle!" In the blink of an eye, a zombie was easily dealt with.

"Woof woof!! (I'll protect my master!)"

Aww~~ What an incredibly touching little dog! I never imagined it could be so noble, risking its life for its owner. Truly...

"Waaaah~~ (Finally done! Now I wonder what delicious food awaits me tonight?)"

Okay, I take back what I just said. They really are a bunch of foodies!

"Hmm? I slept for a bit too long!" Li Kai opened his eyes groggily. The midday sun had long since disappeared. Sigh, what a pig-like life!

"Little White? Where are you?"

"Woof woof!!" Upon hearing its owner's call, Little White pounced on him at lightning speed, licking him incessantly with its tongue.

"Haha~ It's so itchy." Li Kai reached out and grabbed Xiao Bai's body. He noticed that there were a few more dark red spots on its originally black fur. "That's strange. It seems like you have more red spots on your body."

"Woof woof (No, I won't change at all)," Little White said, sticking out its tongue and shaking its head cutely.

"Oh well, it's that time of day again for a daily sweep, but it's almost over." Li Kai licked his lips excitedly. Could he really be addicted?

"Hmm, this is good, ah! This is also very good!" Li Kai kept searching for useful items in front of him. Normally this is a very normal thing in the apocalypse, but can't your eyes work properly? Stop seeing stars all the time.

"Here, Xiaobai is carrying this!" Li Kai tossed one item after another onto Xiaobai's back.

"Woof woof!!" Little White shook its body excitedly, clearly meaning, "Give me more, I can still handle it!"

How could such a small thing hold so much? Anyway, that's not the point, so let's not worry about it.

"Looks like the raid is over. Should we head back?" Li Kai looked at the empty room and then at the darkening sky.

"Whoosh!" Just as Li Kai stepped out of the room, a chilling wind suddenly rushed into his back, and a biting cold hit him in the face.

"It's so cold! How can it be so cold in the middle of summer? Am I possessed?" Li Kai hugged himself and kept breathing out, his previously excited face turning pale and weak.

"Could the source of the wind be down below?" Li Kai, his teeth chattering, looked down at the scene below, where an even more biting chill emanated.

"Woof woof!!" Little White looked nervously downstairs, constantly biting Li Kai's clothes with its teeth, clearly meaning, "Hurry up and go, Master."

"What? You want to go see it? It's so scary, you shouldn't." Li Kai bent down and patted Xiaobai's head, speaking with a hint of timidity.

"Waaaaah!!" Upon hearing Li Kai's words, Xiao Bai shook its head repeatedly in fright, begging, "Don't do anything rash, Master!"

"Sigh, since you're so determined, I have no choice but to accompany you today, even if it costs me my life." Li Kai sighed as he looked at Xiao Bai, who kept shaking his head. "The wind is howling, the Yi River is cold; let's have a carefree time today!"

"Woof! (You misunderstood!)" Little White looked at Li Kai walking away with tears streaming down its face and let out a mournful howl.

Actually, this guy didn't misunderstand Xiaobai's meaning; he was just being a bit of a jerk, having lived a long time, and wanting to court death.

"Cough cough, no way! I'm doing this for Xiaobai's own good, understand?!" the guy vehemently argued.

“There’s nothing unusual on the second floor, so it must be the first floor.” Li Kai looked at the unremarkable second floor, then turned his gaze to the chilly first floor. “Xiao Bai, wait for me here, I’ll go down and take a look.”

"Woof woof!!" Little White looked at the figure walking down on its own, a hint of fear in its eyes, but in the end it gritted its teeth and went down with it.

"Drip, drip," the sound of water droplets falling constantly reached Li Kai's ears as soon as he stepped onto the first floor. It was deathly silent, and surprisingly, there was no chill in the air here.

"This place is so weird. What is that smell in the air? It smells awful!" Li Kai covered his nose and looked around every now and then.

A faint crimson light emerged from the gradually darkening corridor, and the open door seemed to be inviting visitors—only dead visitors.

"The door here is still open. Shall we go in and take a look?" Li Kai looked at the door that exuded an eerie atmosphere, and his heart began to pound uncontrollably. It was an innate instinct of living beings—the instinct of fear.

"Is anyone still here?" Li Kai slowly placed his hand on the doorknob and then gently pushed open the door.

"Crack!" In the instant he was plunged into darkness, Li Kai watched helplessly as crimson energy surged into his body, causing it to swell, grow larger and larger, and then explode.

This is Li Kai. It seems I've run into some serious trouble again. Why does trouble always seem to find me? Am I really that attractive to everyone? I think I'm pretty good-looking! (P.S.: But watching myself explode into minced meat is kind of exciting!)
