My Apocalypse: Infinite Rewinds
Chapter 123 It’s all my fault
"Where am I? Where is this place? Who am I?" Floating in the void, Li Kai looked at the ground beneath his feet in confusion. Why did he have no memories at all?
"Wait, what's my name? And who is Yu Ruoxue? Why does this name sound so familiar!" The troubled boy groaned, clutching his head, while the memories below continued to unfold.
"What happened today? Why does everyone look so panicked?" The girl pouted, clearly unhappy about being strictly forbidden from going out as soon as she woke up that morning.
"Hmph, I asked you all to tell me, but none of you will! Well then, I'll go out and see for myself." As if she had thought of something, a slight smile suddenly appeared on the girl's lips.
"Yosh, my preparations were definitely right." The girl clumsily jumped from her windowsill onto the roof, where her secret escape base was hidden in a corner.
"This girl actually has this skill. Why didn't I notice it before?" the boy muttered to himself as he observed everything.
The desolate streets are no longer as bustling as they once were. Dark red bloodstains mixed with a foul stench, and the sweltering heat exudes a chilling aura.
"What on earth happened here?!" The girl stared in disbelief at the scene before her, which completely overturned her understanding of the world.
"No, calm down! It might be a movie shoot, yeah, that's right!" The girl kept trying to calm her frightened mind, but her pale face was hardly convincing.
A low, suppressed roar came intermittently from the alleyway ahead, sounding both excited and mournful.
"Gulp!" The girl swallowed hard. "Don't scare yourself, stay calm!"
The heavy footsteps suddenly reached her ears, and just by listening, she could sense the staggering figure.
"Excuse me, are you filming a movie? I'm so sorry to bother you so suddenly," the girl said apologetically, but all she got in response was the sound of heavy footsteps.
"No, no way!" Finally sensing something was wrong, the girl began to timidly take steps back.
"Is this what they mean by 'if you don't court death, you won't die'? Yeah, that's what I remember saying." Li Kai couldn't help but sigh as he watched all this. You have absolutely no right to judge others for this kind of thing!
"Roar!!" As the figure, now fully exposed to the sunlight, came into view of the girl, a terrifying roar instantly resounded throughout the entire world.
A狰狞 (zhengning - ferocious) face, blood-red eyes, and strands of flesh hanging from yellowish-green teeth; the torn body still bore traces of blood that hadn't yet dried—all of this clearly indicated...
"Zombies!!" The girl's pupils contracted sharply, and she exclaimed in surprise.
"Impossible, that kind of monster is just a figment of our imagination, it must be a movie." The girl quickly shook her head, but when she saw the savagery and hunger in his eyes, she knew it was all real!
"Roar!" Gazing at the fresh flesh and blood before them, the zombies, already starving and thirsty, couldn't help but pounce forward.
"No!!" The screaming girl quickly retreated, barely managing to dodge the zombie's attack.
"Get out of here quickly!" With only one thought in her mind, the girl fled as fast as she could. But how could a girl, or more accurately, a girl who never left her house, possibly outrun a zombie that was in a state of extreme hunger?
"This is bad, but it seems like I can only watch!" Li Kai secretly broke out in a cold sweat. Even though his memory was in disarray, he knew he couldn't interfere with what was happening in front of him.
"Help! Someone save me!" the girl cried pitifully as she was tackled to the ground. Why couldn't she listen to her parents' advice?
"Hehehe," whether out of excitement or something else, a strange smile suddenly appeared on the zombie's lips, a smile that was even more terrifying.
"Help?" A sudden, halting sound came from afar as the girl cried out.
"Have substandard products been produced? Let me see."
"Roar?!" As the words fell, the zombie, who was about to enjoy his meal, suddenly had his throat grabbed by a fair hand.
"As expected, there's not much difference, but this is better as it's easier to control." The man carefully examined the struggling zombie in front of him, and with a forceful pull, easily extinguished its last breath.
"Whew, I'm saved! Thank you so much!" The girl breathed a sigh of relief and looked gratefully at the man who had saved her.
"Humans?" the man said, puzzled.
"Aren't you the same? You talk so strangely!" The girl listened to his words with amusement. Although this guy was weird, at least he saved her.
"Hey, my name is Yu Ruoxue. What's your name?" Yu Ruoxue excitedly looked at the man in front of her. He was so amazing and handsome just now!
"Damn it, she actually acted like a lovesick fool at a time like this. She's definitely going to suffer a lot!" Li Kai curled his lip in disdain, unable to describe the feeling in his heart.
After all, every girl has a slight crush on the person who saves her, especially if he's also handsome.
"Shadow." The man managed to utter the word through his throat.
Are you all alone? Where is your home?
"I don't"
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." Yu Ruoxue stuck out her tongue, realizing she had accidentally brought up such a painful topic.
"Why should I apologize?" the man wondered.
"Oh, right, if you don't have a place to go, feel free to come to my house!" the girl invited warmly, so she could learn more about me.
"Your home?" the man asked hesitantly, but finally nodded in agreement.
And so, led by the girl, the two set off one after the other.
If there hadn't been that initial encounter, there wouldn't have been the subsequent tragedy. Indeed, it was all my fault. A sorrowful voice suddenly rang in Li Kai's ears.
"Yu Ruoxue?" Li Kai asked with difficulty, his memories jumbled.
There was nothing there except for the still image.
As if accelerated, or as if unwilling to see such a scene again, time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, it was that night, the night she would regret for the rest of her life.
"I mean, Ruoxue, is your family the most precious thing to you?" An Ying looked at the beaming Yu Ruoxue with a puzzled expression, not quite understanding such feelings.
"Yes! Don't you think family is the best thing? Even though they can be awful sometimes!" Yu Ruoxue squinted her eyes. Sometimes she hated them terribly, and sometimes she missed them terribly. That's her family!
"Then what am I?"
"A friend, a very close friend!" Yu Ruoxue said after thinking for a moment, her face slightly flushed, even though this was her only friend.
"If that's the case, then if I destroy my family, will I be the only one left?" Shadow touched his heart and muttered to himself.
"Idiot, what nonsense are you spouting!" Yu Ruoxue couldn't help but scold him upon hearing these terrifying words.
"I'm not joking, I'm telling the truth."
"Dad, Mom, please don't leave me!" Yu Ruoxue looked at her blood-soaked parents in horror, wishing what she saw was a dream.
"Hey, do you belong to me now?" Dark Shadow asked in a sickly tone, looking at Yu Ruoxue who was kneeling on the ground and crying uncontrollably.
What have I done?! I caused all of this!
