Infinite: Dawn Game

Chapter 57 Returning the Favor

After figuring things out, He Lingling walked over to Xuexue and squatted down, her gaze lingering on the other girl's waist-length black hair.

Because of her short stature and long hair, her beautiful hair got stained with a lot of blood from the ground while she was squatting, and the ends of her hair were sticky and matted together, ruining her appearance.

Xuexue's big, dark eyes stared at her, and He Lingling's ridiculously large eyes also stared at Xuexue.

A few seconds later, He Lingling gently smoothed Xuexue's dirty long hair and whispered:

"How about I tie it up for you?"

Xuexue was clearly taken aback for a moment, then nodded hesitantly.

He Lingling casually took one of her low double ponytails, gently combed Xuexue's hair with her hands, and finally tied it into a ponytail that didn't drag on the ground.

Xuexue seemed quite happy. After her hair was tied up, she watched Xu Han treat Yu Shijiu while touching her own ponytail, her pale face full of an unconcealable smile.

He Lingling breathed a sigh of relief.

Xu Han's back was soaked with cold sweat, so wet it looked like he could squeeze out a lot of water. The system kept reminding him that his stamina was decreasing, which made him even more irritable.

"Okay, okay," Xu Han replied impatiently to the system's prompt in his mind.

Only after Yu Shijiu's chest wound had almost healed did Xu Han lean against the wall, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead; his lips were even a little pale.

"Damn," Xu Han gasped, his words muffled, "I used fifty stamina points."

He only has less than forty points of stamina left today.

He Lingling tossed him a tissue and sighed, "It's okay, we'll just play support later."

Yes, wait a moment.

He Lingling had a premonition that once Yu Shijiu woke up, this game instance would probably be over soon.

Xuexue squatted down next to Yu Shijiu and wiped the blood off his face with her hand, casually wiping it on her own clothes. "Why isn't brother awake yet?"

They don't have time to play with me anymore.

Xuexue didn't say the last sentence aloud.

She just quietly squatted in front of Yu Shijiu, hugging her knees. She was a small, thin bundle with a pale face and lips, and she didn't look like a healthy child.

It is true when they are alive, and it is also true when they are transformed into monsters.

Perhaps for some reason similar to sharing a similar plight, He Lingling suddenly felt her eyes sting a little.

"Ghost Eyes".

"Having never witnessed the death of someone who embodies light, upon gaining the ability to see the world, one will simultaneously acquire the power of the Eye of the Spirits and Gods. But is seeing through the future and the past just another abyss?"

Yu Shijiu woke up.

Despite the excruciating pain that felt like his limbs were being torn apart, he remained relaxed. The first thing he saw was Xuexue, who was squatting in front of him, hugging her knees and staring blankly.

Yu Shijiu: "..."

He was taken aback at first, then smiled as he looked at Xuexue, whose eyes were wide open, his tone clear and devoid of his previous madness:

“Xuexue,” Yu Shijiu smiled and turned her head to gesture for her to look around, her tone enticing:

"How's it going? Do you like it?"

Do you enjoy seeing these doctors and nurses, whose lives are altered by their words, turn into a swamp of flesh and blood, unable to move, screaming as they are stripped of all hope of life and die a miserable death?

Xuexue was stunned for a moment, then her mouth tore open with excitement, and her densely packed sharp teeth began to clench and open with great pleasure, making a chewing sound that made your teeth ache.

"I like it," Xuexue's eyes crinkled into crescents. She excitedly rushed to Yu Shijiu, hugged his leg, and wobbled as she turned her head.

"I love it so much! Xuexue loves it so much!"

The girl's innocent and joyful voice echoed throughout the corridor. From an unseen perspective, the tongues that had been hiding in the ceiling and attempting to attack simultaneously trembled and then timidly retreated into an even deeper and darker corner.

He Lingling also snapped out of the eerie and sad atmosphere. Unusually, she didn't tease Yu Shijiu about his "harmonious coexistence" with the monster. Instead, she quietly walked to a cleaner spot to rest.

Now that I've done the intern work and experienced battle royale... what's left?

Oh, right, a teddy bear?!

Suddenly remembering this, He Lingling snapped back to reality. She subconsciously looked at Xuexue, who was happily swinging her arms around Yu Shijiu's leg. Before she could even speak, she saw Xuexue abruptly turn her head 180 degrees to look at her.

“Oh, right,” Xuexue said happily, sticking out her long tongue and licking around her lips. She tilted her head and looked at He Lingling.

"Where's my teddy bear? Have you found it?"

The originally quiet and peaceful atmosphere suddenly became a bit off. Xu Han, who was resting against the wall, also stiffened and stared blankly at He Lingling, feeling a chill in his heart.

What the hell?! They're not Yu Shijiu; if they can't find the teddy bear, this little girl probably won't let them off the hook!

Just as He Lingling and Xu Han were about to make up some excuses to fob off Xuexue, Yu Shijiu, whose emotions were still somewhat unstable, thought for a moment, then looked down and took out a bear doll that was half-stained with blood from his pocket.

"Is it this one?"

As Yu Shijiu spoke, he wiped the teddy bear with his hand, intending to clean it, but it only got dirtier. Feeling a little embarrassed, he said:

"But it's dirty, do you still want it?"

The atmosphere fell silent instantly. Xuexue, her mouth agape, froze on the spot, a strange blush creeping onto her face. She turned around and, sure enough, saw her own teddy bear.

She pouted as she took the teddy bear from Yu Shijiu's hand, lowered her head, and tugged at the bear's ears, whispering:

"It's easier for you."

He Lingling and Xu Han: "..."

They both breathed a sigh of relief at the same time.

The latter even subconsciously wanted to hug Yu Shijiu's arm to thank her, but stopped when she saw the deep, bone-revealing wound on Yu Shijiu's wrist.

This kind of wound... can actually be treated.

However, if Xu Han's stamina drops to around 30, he might not be able to run anymore. If he can't run, he'll have to be carried, which will waste even more time.

Yu Shijiu noticed Xu Han's gaze. He glanced indifferently at the wound on his wrist, as if he had thought of something:

"You treated me?"

Xu Han was taken aback, and subconsciously touched his hair: "Yes, I'm sorry, I can't treat your hand injury today, but I can tomorrow..."

Xu Han said somewhat embarrassedly, "I have to wait for my stamina to recover."

Having recovered from his bloodlust-induced madness, Yu Shijiu seemed quite well-behaved. Upon hearing this, he shook his head and thanked him with a smile.

"Thank you, you're very capable."

After all, he had almost completely healed the penetrating wound that pierced through the chest, so Yu Shijiu was very curious about Xu Han's innate skill.

This kind of pure recovery skill is practically equivalent to a second life, no wonder Xu Han seemed quite proud...

Although this only manifests in the fact that it was quickly destroyed at the very beginning of the game.

No one would want to be enemies with a "doctor." Even though Yu Shijiu didn't care about life or death, she was indeed indebted to Xu Han for being able to get out of danger sooner.

So this teddy bear can be considered a way of repaying Xu Han for saving him earlier.
