From cannon fodder villain to beloved heroine

Chapter 19 System Navigation, Crisis Re-explored

Yan Rugo frowned, staring at the blurry system prompt in her mind, looking just like a working person who stayed up all night revising a PPT.

She rubbed her temples and muttered, "Is this system an old-fashioned phone? It fails me at the crucial moment!" The information the system provided was like looking at flowers through a fog; she only knew there was a new crisis, but she didn't even have a direction. It was practically forcing her to play a blind box game!

She got up and decided to walk around the mansion to see if she could find any clues.

But she had only taken a few steps when she was stopped by several maids and servants, all of whom looked unfriendly, like creditors coming to her door.

"Oh, isn't this Miss Ruge? Where are you headed?" the leading old woman said sarcastically, her eyes looking at her as if she were some kind of plague god.

Looking at the group of "troublemakers" in front of her, Yan Rugo immediately understood that the little maid who had been jealous of her earlier had indeed been up to something and must have been causing trouble behind the scenes again.

She took a deep breath and tried to explain, "I just wanted to take a walk, please move aside."

Unexpectedly, those people ignored her and instead surrounded her even more tightly.

"Walk away? Hmph, I think you're just trying to cause trouble!" another maid said sarcastically, arms crossed.

Yan Rugo was so angry at these stubborn people that she almost spat out a mouthful of blood.

She felt as if she were trapped in a giant glass dome, with everyone around her looking at her with prejudice and refusing to listen to what she had to say.

A wave of grievance washed over her, and her eyes gradually reddened, but she stubbornly bit her lip, refusing to let herself cry.

She's destined to rise to become the beloved female lead, how can she easily admit defeat?

Looking around, she saw that the maids who used to greet her with smiles were now avoiding her like the plague, afraid of getting into trouble.

The once bustling courtyard now appears exceptionally deserted, as if she were the only one abandoned by the world.

Just as Yan Rugo felt utterly isolated and helpless, a series of hurried footsteps came from not far away, and a familiar voice rang out with a hint of anger: "What are you doing?" Xu, the male protagonist, appeared in front of everyone like a god descending from the heavens, his face terribly gloomy and his whole body exuding a chilling aura.

His sharp gaze swept over the maids and servants, his thin lips parted slightly, and his tone was icy: "Who gave you the audacity to treat Ruge like this?"

The once arrogant old women instantly cowered, their faces ashen with fear, kneeling trembling on the ground, not daring to lift their heads.

"Young master, spare us! We dare not do it again!" Their voices trembled, like a group of shivering chicks.

When Yan Rugo saw Xu, the male lead, appear, her tense nerves finally relaxed, and a warm feeling welled up in her heart.

Her eyes were slightly red, but she stubbornly refused to shed a tear.

The male protagonist walked up to her, gently pulled her into his arms, and softly stroked her hair, comforting her in a tender voice, "It's alright, I'm here." He looked down at her, his eyes full of tenderness, as if she were the most precious treasure in the world.

Yan Rugo leaned against his warm embrace, feeling his strong heartbeat. The grievances and unease in her heart gradually dissipated, replaced by a strong sense of security.

The surrounding air seemed to quiet down, leaving only the sound of their breathing.

Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground, making everything seem so beautiful and peaceful.

"They..." Yan Rugo was about to speak when Xu, the male lead, interrupted her.

“I know,” Xu said firmly, “I will handle all of this and will not let anyone bully you again.” His voice was deep and magnetic, carrying a reassuring power.

Yan Rugo nodded and softly hummed in agreement. Then she looked up at Xu, her eyes filled with gratitude and dependence.

"Let's go." The male protagonist took her hand and led her away from this place of trouble.

Reaching a secluded corner, Xu stopped and looked intently at Yan Rugo: "Rugo, have you encountered any trouble lately?"

Yan Rugo hesitated for a moment, but ultimately decided to tell him about the system notification.

"I..." She had just started to speak when she suddenly heard a slight noise, as if someone was spying on her from the shadows.

"Who's there?" The male protagonist, Xu, looked around warily.

No one responded, but the feeling of being watched only intensified.

"Let's leave here first." The male protagonist, Xu, took Yan Rugo's hand and walked quickly towards the outside of the mansion.

As Yan Rugo reached the gate of the mansion, she glanced back and saw a furtive figure flash by and disappear around the corner of the alley.

"It seems someone is following us," Yan Rugo said in a low voice.

“I know.” The male protagonist’s tone was calm, but with a hint of coldness that was hard to detect. “It seems we need to speed things up…” He paused, his gaze falling on an abandoned warehouse in the distance, his tone meaningful. “Perhaps, we can find the answers we’re looking for there.”

Yan Rugo and the male protagonist Xu exchanged a glance, and their understanding was clear in their eyes.

The crisis is lurking in that gloomy, abandoned warehouse!

The two of them, one in front of the other, quickly arrived at the warehouse.

The gate was tightly shut, and two guards stood ramrod straight at the entrance like door gods.

Their faces were stern, their eyes sharp, as if they could see through any disguise.

Their tightly pursed lips revealed their steadfastness and inviolability.

Yan Rugo looked at him and sighed inwardly. This guard was really not someone to be fooled.

She paced anxiously back and forth, her brow furrowed, like a trapped beast desperately trying to break free of its cage.

The surrounding environment was also unfriendly, with a chilling wind blowing and the dilapidated warehouse exuding a sinister atmosphere, as if it were hiding countless unknown dangers.

"System, give it your all!" Yan Rugo silently prayed. As if the system heard her call, an inconspicuous prop appeared in her hand. It was a miniature "noise generator," which looked just like a modern whistle, only with a sharper and more penetrating sound.

A sly smile played on her lips, making her look like a little fox who had just stolen a chicken.

She blew lightly, and with a "squeak," the sharp noise instantly attracted the guard's attention.

The guards were completely bewildered, looking around as if trying to find the source of the sound.

Yan Rugo seized the opportunity, and with a swift movement, like a nimble raccoon, she quickly slipped into the warehouse.

She cautiously looked around and found the room filled with old wooden crates, and the air was thick with a musty smell that made her feel depressed.

Just then, she noticed some letters scattered in a corner.

She quickly picked up the letter and read it carefully in the dim light, her heart racing.

The contents of the letter were actually clues about a previous conspiracy.

She was like a primary school student playing a detective game who suddenly discovered a treasure, feeling both nervous and excited.

Just as Yan Rugo was holding the letter and preparing to retreat, a series of hurried footsteps came from outside the warehouse.

Her heart leaped into her throat, and a chill ran down her spine.

Who is coming?

敌?

friend?

Like a frightened rabbit, she instantly hid in a corner, holding her breath and daring not to make a sound.

The warehouse was pitch black, with only a faint light filtering in through the crack in the door.

Everything was quiet, so quiet that she could almost hear her own heartbeat. A sense of crisis washed over her like a tide, making her so nervous that her palms were sweating.

Yan Rugo hid in a corner of the warehouse, listening to the footsteps outside getting closer and closer...
