Super System in the Early Tang Dynasty
Chapter 1 The Useless System
When Li Xingzhi woke up again, he felt dizzy, his mouth was dry, and he was weak all over.
"I'm not dead?" His mind went blank.
He just woke up from a nightmare!
Just moments before, he was playing games in his office when suddenly, a gust of wind swept through his mind, and with a loud "boom!", he lost consciousness...
Li Xingzhi painstakingly surveyed his surroundings: it was a small temple with numerous cobwebs on the ceiling. In the center stood a dilapidated Buddha statue, though half of its head was missing. The mottled paint was covered in dust, making it difficult to discern the color of the Buddha's robes. A spiderweb riddled with holes stretched from the top of the statue to a dusty beam, allowing faint rays of light to leak through the holes in the roof, illuminating the statue and the uneven ground. One beam of sunlight shone directly on the missing half of the statue's face, which, combined with the temple's dark and eerie atmosphere, made it appear even more grotesque and terrifying!
"Is this the legendary time travel?" Li Xingzhi was a little out of breath.
Although he often fantasized about time travel, rebirth, and commanding the wind and rain like the protagonists in novels, when it actually happened, all he felt was absurdity. He just wanted to go back home, even if it meant staying in that boring office and getting some fresh air!
He lay in the corner behind the Buddha statue to the right, and moved his body slightly. He heard popping and crackling sounds from beneath him, and felt that it was still a bit hard. He was lying on a small pile of grass.
Li Xingzhi wanted to turn his head to look around, but found that his neck was not obeying his commands. He tried to sit up, but his limbs could only move slightly before he collapsed weakly back down.
He turned his head slightly and looked at himself—he was wearing dirty, tattered, and extremely rough clothes with many patches, here and there; his hands were thin like chicken claws, covered in dust but still showing a withered yellow color!
"The legendary soul transmigration?"
"Damn it, my body's been ruined. I don't know which bastard did this." He cursed inwardly.
Suddenly, something seemed to vibrate in his head. He shuddered, his face turned pale, his body stiffened, and his eyes bulged. If it weren't for his body temperature and the beating of his heart, he would definitely have been mistaken for a zombie!
He felt like his head was filled with mush, and someone was stirring it violently inside with a stick!
That wasn't pain; it was a feeling of suffocation and oppression, like being trapped in a small black box that was no more than a meter long, wide, or high!
He hated that feeling!
I'd rather die than suffer like this again!
Suddenly, my head jolted again. "Ding—System compatibility 100%, initiating 1%...100%!"
Just as Li Xingzhi was starting to feel a little better, the stick seemed to gather all its strength and began to stir faster inside his head. He felt as if his entire head was about to shatter into pieces under the force of the rotation.
Just when he was about to reach his limit, the stick slowed down again. He had mentally prepared himself for the next impact, but in the end, he didn't get to. He let out a long sigh of relief!
Just as Li Xingzhi breathed a sigh of relief, his head jolted again, *ding*—
This time, however, I didn't experience that nauseous, vomiting-like feeling; instead, a row of data appeared before my eyes.

Li Xingzhi found it strange, thinking it was a hallucination caused by the discomfort he had just experienced. He shook his head violently, trying to clear his mind, but found that the data was still in front of him; he closed his eyes again, but the data still did not disappear, glowing with a green light in the darkness, which was particularly eerie, frightening Li Xingzhi into quickly opening his eyes.
Only then did he take a closer look at what was in front of him and suddenly felt that it was somewhat familiar—wasn't this the attribute panel of the game he played before he transmigrated?
He looked at the -5780 experience points, feeling somewhat bewildered and unsure why it was like this. He thought about it for a while, but still couldn't figure it out. He shook his head and simply stopped thinking about it.
Only then did he suddenly realize the significance of the thing in front of him to his current situation. Wasn't this the legendary cheat code?
Li Xingzhi was overjoyed. He fantasized about how to use this thing to make a big splash here, unleashing his domineering aura, and having numerous beautiful women throw themselves into his arms...
He was fantasizing about the wonderful days to come when suddenly everything went black, and his stomach started rumbling. Li Xingzhi felt that his stomach was empty and he didn't know how long it had been since he had eaten.
At the same time, waves of discomfort surged up again and again. He felt that his large intestine, small intestine, pancreas, stomach, liver, gallbladder... all the big and small things in his stomach were starting to rebel. He knew that if he didn't eat something, he would die!
He looked at what was in front of him, gave a wry smile, and thought, "No matter how good this food is, it won't fill me up!"
He only just realized that this system was utterly useless, at least for him now, lying on the ground, too weak even to turn over.
Li Xingzhi struggled to sit up—he didn't want to die like this!
However, whether it was because this body was inherently weak or a side effect of his soul possessing the body after transmigrating, it simply wouldn't obey his commands! He used all his strength, but could only manage to lift his body slightly against the wall; after a few attempts, his body slid back down.
He suddenly felt restless and irritable, as if there was a lump of anger stuck in his chest, making him feel uneasy!
"Roar!" A muffled roar came from his throat, and the pent-up foul air that had been building up for so long was gone. It seemed as if a gentle warm current was nourishing his body, and his strength seemed to have returned somewhat.
"Brother Ya Zi, you're awake." A young, innocent face appeared before him, about five or six years old, with bright, clear eyes filled with sparkling surprise. His face was ashen, his hair a messy tangled mess with a few stray hairs. Seeing this face, Li Xingzhi felt a sense of familiarity and warmth, realizing that this child must have been quite close to the original owner of this body.
The child seemed to remember something, pulled a small cake out of his clothes, carefully wiped off the dust, secretly swallowed, and said, "Brother Ya, you can have it."
Li Xingzhi took the cake; it seemed to be still warm. He swallowed hard and asked, "Is there any water?"
The child ran to the side and painstakingly pulled out a small, dirty, grayish-black earthenware jar with large and small chips on it.
"Go wash up and fetch some water." Then she ignored him and started eating her pancake.
Although he felt reluctant to ask such a child to do things, Li Xingzhi knew he had to survive!
"Brother Yazi." The little boy carefully brought over a small half-full jar of water, and looking at the water stains on the ground, he saw that it had spilled from the jar.
After eating most of the cake, Li Xingzhi regained some strength. He took the earthenware pot, drank some water, and casually gave the remaining small piece of cake to the child.
The child looked at the pancake in his hand, swallowed hard, but didn't eat it.
After Li Xingzhi finished drinking the water, he saw him holding a biscuit and asked with some surprise, "Why aren't you eating?"
"Brother Ya, you eat." The voice was childish, yet clear and crisp.
Looking at his timid movements, a warm feeling seemed to well up from the bottom of my heart.
Li Xingzhi suppressed the tears that were about to fall, glanced at him, and said, "I've just recovered from my illness, so I can't eat too much. You eat."
The child stuffed the biscuit into his mouth, but it wasn't enough for just two bites. After finishing it, he licked his hand, still wanting more.
