Chapter 98 Single-sided Wing
“Alright, we’ll split up then.” Adrian didn’t ask any more questions. He and Arran boarded the aircraft together and set their location inside the black market.
Adrian had already learned about the underground black market. Every insect that enters the black market disguises its identity, and Arran forged relevant identification documents for them.
“That doctor’s name is Taan. He came to the palace seven years ago and was in charge of my medical treatment.” Arran sent the information to Adrian, who sneered.
“Sean bribed him at some point and switched my medication, as well as the eye injury medicine for Commander Morris. This guy was involved in it.”
Adrian had seen a picture of Taan. She was a middle-aged female insect with blond hair, gray eyes, and fine lines around her eyes and forehead.
He asked, "Sean hasn't caught him either?"
“He does want to run to Sean’s side, and the female insects there are trying to help him.” Arran leaned back in his seat, his tone growing colder. “He has all the relevant evidence in his hands now.”
Adrian understood the situation. But Arran's words contained no indication of capturing the royal doctor alive; the instructions in the documents he gave Adrian emphasized from beginning to end that Taan must be shot.
Ta'an may know something he shouldn't know.
Adrian had never been particularly interested in the secrets of the royal family, whether it was Sean's empress or the brotherly entanglement between Arran and Sean.
Adrian looked at the contents on the personal terminal, scrolled through the page, and suddenly said, "Prince, I saw Sean yesterday. He was walking with Commander Colin."
Arran scoffed, "Colin must have lost his mind. With his status and position, he's more than qualified to be the queen of an ordinary male insect, but he insists on being Sean's servant. He's pathetic."
“They must have a close relationship,” Adrian said, looking at Arran. “I visited Commander Colin’s house before and saw a photo of him and Sean taken at the palace. They were only seven or eight years old then, so they must have known each other for a long time.”
Arran paused upon hearing this: "He and Sean met when they were little?"
“Yes.” Adrian laughed, also somewhat incredulous. “Those two insects look quite alike. I thought the one next to him was his younger brother. But Commander Colin said his brother died long ago, and the one in the photo is Prince Sean.”
"These are all sad things to talk about, so I didn't ask any more questions. Later, the legion commander put the photos away." Adrian sighed and continued to swipe on his personal terminal.
After listening, Aran remained silent for a long time. He frowned and said, "Then they are quite strange."
Arran is perceptive in all aspects, and Adrian intentionally revealed a hint to him. Seeing that Arran had become suspicious of the relationship between Colin and Sean, he wisely remained silent.
Aran lowered his eyes in thought as the aircraft accelerated towards the location of the underground black market. The mechanical sounds were faint, with occasional rumbling noises from the internal devices.
Aran looked out the window. The aircraft had already left the city center and arrived above a dense forest. Below, towering mountains reached into the clouds, and beyond that, there were sheer cliffs.
Arran heard the countdown from the aircraft.
"No, Adrian, we're going the wrong way!" Arran suddenly stood up and strode to the control panel. After clicking a few times, the entire screen went blank.
Adrian couldn't hear anything from the spacecraft; the data on his personal computer kept fluctuating, indicating that he had lost contact with the StarNet.
“There’s a flying vehicle approaching from behind.” Adrian saw a black dot rapidly approaching in the distance through the window and said decisively, “There’s a cliff ahead. Let’s jump off there.”
Aran exclaimed in shock, "What if you die from the fall?!"
"The spacecraft is about to explode. If we don't jump, we'll die right now." Adrian opened the spacecraft's hatch, and a blast of cold air rushed in. He grabbed the life preserver with one hand.
"Surviving in ignominy": "?"
“Prince Aran, hold on to me tightly for a moment.”
After Adrian finished speaking, he grabbed Gouqie and jumped off the aircraft. Aran clung tightly to Adrian's arm, and the two insects plummeted together with gravity.
To live a life of ignominy: "..."
Why do the hosts it chooses always look like this?
It stood bewildered in the cold wind for a few seconds, barely clinging to life, before quickly activating its emergency defense mechanism. It expanded into a sphere, using its body to support the two stupid insects above it, thus mitigating the impact of their descent.
The aircraft exploded in mid-air seconds later. Countless pieces of mechanical debris fell from the sky, some of them crashing down in the direction they had fallen.
Just as it was trying to strengthen its defenses to survive, it suddenly heard a scream explode beside it.
[Crush! Get out of the way!]
[My baby...don't hurt it!!!]
As they desperately tried to survive, their descent paused for a moment in mid-air. The massive pieces of machinery hurtling towards them were crushed into fragments by an unknown energy, instantly turning into dust.
Adrian was also taken aback. He opened his eyes in the cold wind and saw a pink sphere suddenly emerge from the north, grabbing the barely surviving sphere and trying to carry it away to the other side.
Adrian frantically clung to the data board in mid-air, which creaked as the ball was nearly deformed by their combined force.
Seeing that Adrian refused to let go, the pink ball threw the electric current surrounding it at Adrian.
Adrian's arm went numb from the electric shock. His fingertips trembled, and in his exhaustion, he was pulled along by the pink ball and quickly disappeared into thin air.
"Living a life of ignominy—"
The creature, its body glowing red, barely managed to survive. Before leaving, it tossed its data card to Adrian, but before it could speak, it was dragged into another dimension by the pink ball.
Adrian's body suddenly dropped, he frowned fiercely, and quickly stuffed the small data card he was using to survive into his pocket.
The aircraft pursuing them closed in rapidly. Adrian and his companions fell into a precipice, the bottom of which was pitch black and unfathomable. Adrian and Arran continued their descent.
There might be water below... Adrian tried to grab onto the protruding tree branches at the edge of the cliff to cushion their fall.
"Adrian, this also leads to the black market. Let's split up." Arran's voice suddenly rang out from above. Adrian felt a lightness on his body and heard the sound of wings flapping beside his ears.
He glanced up out of the corner of his eye and saw half of Aran's wing behind him. It was pure white, and seemed underdeveloped, only able to flap slightly.
The male and female Zerg are clearly distinguishable; only the females have wings and markings.
Ah Ran is not a male insect.
Adrian was in a daze when gunshots rang out above him, piercing his eardrums. Arran flew a distance along the middle of the cliff before suddenly dropping down and throwing Adrian outside a cave at the bottom of the cliff.
Adrian rolled twice in the grass, then looked up to see Arran quickly turn and fly off in the other direction. The female soldiers chasing him followed suit, flying off in the opposite direction as well.
Edley's whole body ached. He stood up, clutching his muddled head, and suddenly heard the sound of a pistol being cocked behind him.
"do not move."
Adrian froze, not expecting that there were insects lurking in the cave.
The insect with the gun cautiously approached Adrian. Adrian stood still, watching the sounds behind him. Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in the back of his neck as he turned his head.
"Take him away."
"Is this a male? Goodness, it's a top-quality specimen."
Adrian collapsed to the ground, the white light shining on his face, and he could only see two indistinct shadows flickering in his vision.
"It can fetch a good price."
The female insect that had been speaking stepped forward and injected the potion into Adrian's body. A moment later, Adrian's eyelids grew heavy, and he temporarily fell into a coma.
