Defeat the system! Kiss my little monster!
Chapter 66 Food
Adrian didn't think anything was wrong. He pulled out the chair next to him and made room for Morris.
"sit."
Under normal circumstances, female insects are not qualified to eat with male insects.
Morris was already numb to these rules. He stood obediently behind Adrian until he heard Adrian's words, at which point Morris stepped forward and sat down.
“My lord, thank you.” Maurice took Adrian’s right hand, knelt on one knee, and kissed his hand in a gesture of respect.
His lips weren't as dry as they had been the night before. Adrian hummed in agreement, and Maurice got up and sat down in his chair.
In his past life, Maurice wasn't this polite, and of course, Adrian didn't give him that chance.
At that time, they seemed to dislike each other. Adrian showed it outwardly, while Maurice kept it to himself. Apart from having sex to release their sexual desires and needing physical contact, they spent most of their time in a cold war.
Until Maurice died.
Adrian frowned, glanced at Maurice, and suddenly stepped on Maurice's shoe.
Morris: "..."
"My lord, you..."
Before Morris could finish speaking, Adrian withdrew his foot, his tone indifferent as if nothing had happened: "Sorry, I stepped on you. I didn't mean to."
They're stirring up trouble again.
Morris lowered his eyes and said, "It's alright."
Adrian picked up the knife and fork on the table, cut the small cake in front of him into several pieces, scraped off all the cream and threw it aside.
Unlike the coldness in front of Maurice, Adrian had four or five plates in front of him, with all sorts of small desserts and warm milk that Maurice had prepared for him.
The quality of breakfast directly affects Adrian's mood throughout the day; these male insects love to find fault with their food.
Morris used his teeth to bite open the plastic packaging of the nutrient solution. The liquid inside had little taste. He secretly watched Adrian's expression out of the corner of his eye.
Adrian was still fiddling with the cream on the cake, his movements slow but meticulous, his expression calm and showing no signs of anger.
Upon seeing this, Morris withdrew his gaze.
The creature, clinging to Adrian's shoulder, circled him a few times with its red ball before finally asking a question.
"Why are you eating the little cake by yourself while he drinks the nutrient solution? I just tested the taste of the nutrient solution, and the ratings on the StarNet are all one star."
Adrian looked up at this and said, "Maurice doesn't like cakes."
"?" The person who was "surviving in vain" couldn't understand. "How do you know he doesn't like it if you don't ask him?"
Adrian frowned slightly upon hearing this; he had indeed not asked Morris these questions. In the common perception of the insectoid race, female insects were meant to consume nutrient solutions, and Adrian, being a male insect, had no interest in such matters.
He thought for a moment, then turned to look at the side: "Maurice, do you want some cake? If you do, I can share a piece with you."
Morris had already finished his nutrient solution. Hearing this, he looked slightly surprised, his gaze only briefly glancing at the cake crumbs on Adrian's plate before he said, "My lord, I don't like small cakes. Thank you, you're very generous."
Adrian then took the cake plate back to himself with a clear conscience and said smugly to the shrewd coward, "Didn't I tell you? He doesn't like cake."
To live a life of ignominy: "..."
Morris ate breakfast much faster than Adrian; he drank the two packets of nutrient solution in less than a minute.
Adrian dawdled and ate for an unknown amount of time. Morris waited for nearly twenty minutes and realized that Adrian showed no sign of finishing.
He glanced at the time, stood up, and bowed to Adrian, saying, "My lord, there are still matters at the military headquarters that require my attention. It's time to go now."
Adrian looked at him. Morris had a bandage around his right eye. The pure white medical bandage contrasted with the skin color on his face, revealing a hint of fatigue.
Marriage of female soldiers is not a big deal, even for Morris, who is a legion commander.
A male insect can marry countless females in its lifetime. They don't even need to hold a wedding ceremony; they just need to go to a special place to get their documents stamped.
Adrian asked, "When are you coming back?"
Morris: "The military's closing time is 5 p.m., and I should be back around 5:30 p.m."
“Oh.” Adrian continued fiddling with the cake crumbs in his plate. “You can go now.”
Morris remained standing, looking at Adrian, and after a moment of silence asked, "My lord, are you going out today?"
Adrian was a little confused: "I'm not going out, what do you want?"
“No,” Morris replied quickly, looking down as he said, “If you need to go out, please let me know. The roads are quite congested today, and I can come pick you up.”
"I'm not going out. There are so many bugs, what would I do if I went out?" Adrian was still thinking about his guide to surviving. With each day slipping away, he had to make the most of his time to read the book.
After Adrian finished speaking, he looked at Maurice and said, "Remember to buy me a new game console when you come back. The one in my room is broken and can't connect to the internet."
Morris nodded: "Yes, my lord."
"You can go now, but come back early tonight." Adrian didn't say anything more. He brushed the cake crumbs off the plate and popped the strawberries into his mouth one by one.
Morris went upstairs to change into a new military uniform. He stood by the window, his gaze sweeping over the messy, unmade bed inch by inch.
The iron whip fell to the floor. Maurice picked it up and placed it aside, then covered the insect-like markings on the back of his neck with one hand.
There is still some pain, but it has been greatly reduced compared to before.
Morris narrowed his eyes, put on his military cap, picked up the broken game console from the table, put it in a bag, and then quickly walked down the stairs.
Adrian lay sprawled on the sofa, legs crossed, playing on his personal computer, the game audio from the video feed occasionally blaring out. Morris glanced at him, then turned and left the villa.
Adrian heard the sound of the aircraft starting up outside. He looked out the window in the reflection of the glass and only sat up again after Morris piloted the aircraft away.
"Your Majesty, you should read your book." Seeing Adrian leaning back again, Gouqieqiusheng spoke up to remind him.
Adrian froze.
"Don't call me that." Adrian glanced at the cowardly survivor, turned off his personal terminal and tossed it aside. He then squatted down, pulled the white paper from the drawer, and muttered, "I'll look at it right away, right away..."
Living a life of ignominy, I silently gaze at the sky.
