After a long silence, a huge negative symbol appeared on the red card panel on his body.

"No! My energy isn't enough to send you back that far in time! You can only go back five years at most, no, two years ago!" Gouqiechoingsheng's tone was unfriendly.

Adrian frowned: "Two years? Does that mean I'll be dead again soon? No, no, I don't want to go back. I'd rather die."

After he finished speaking, he collapsed to the ground, clutching his own guide to barely surviving, and became depressed.

Driven by a burning rage and a desperate will to live, he stared at Adrian, who had already closed his eyes in resignation. His entire face was devoid of skin, and a pair of emerald green eyes were embedded in the rotting flesh, blood seeping from beneath them intermittently.

Unhappy at his precarious existence, he replied, "Two years and three months."

Adrian glanced at it. "Two and a half years."

The number on the survival panel jumped: "Two years and five months".

"Two and a half years."

After a few seconds of silence, he compromised and said, "Fine, two and a half years."

Adrian continued, "Two years and seven months."

"Surviving in ignominy": "?"

"Two years and three months! I've already set a timeframe for you! Since you have no objections and I have no objections either, let's officially begin now!"

The voice of someone trying to survive suddenly rose in pitch, its original bass tone rapidly changing into a childlike voice like that of the previous world.

"No, no! I can't go..." Adrian was stunned. He gripped the little white book in his hand tightly, but before he could finish speaking, he was smashed out of the isolation space by a metal ball thrown by the cowardly survivor.

The surrounding scenery changed constantly, with countless bizarre and wonderful sights passing before Adrian's eyes and quickly disappearing into the boundless night.

The stinging pain on Adrian's face subsided, the festering flesh inside his body began to grow back, and his exterior was quickly covered with a new, intact skin, restoring him to his appearance before he died.

"Lord."

"Get out of my sight and kneel down."

"……Yes."

Adrian lifted his eyelids. The newborn body still had a slight stinging and discomfort. The heaviness on his eyelids lasted for nearly ten seconds before slowly disappearing from Adrian's touch.

Adrian stared blankly at the darkness above, the surroundings desolate, not even the faintest breaths audible. He blinked, turning his head as a sliver of moonlight streaming in from the window jolted him back to his senses.

"It is now February of the 1413th year of the Insect Calendar. There are one year and three months left until you ascend the throne. Please pay special attention to the following content. At this point in time, there are two years and three months left until your death."

A sphere, barely clinging to life, appeared in the air, its red light dazzling, dispelling the darkness and emptiness above.

Adrian's pupils shifted: "Two years and three months..."

A faint cough came from inside the room. The female insect had deliberately suppressed the sound, but it was still particularly loud in the room.

Startled by the sound, Adrian sat up, pressed the light switch by the bedside, and pulled the blanket back a little. "Who's there?"

The naked female insect knelt in the corner. Her skin was not the fair white of ordinary insects, but rather dark in color. Her muscles were taut, but her face looked like it had been injured. Her right eye was bandaged, and her lips were cracked and bleeding.

Upon seeing Adrian awaken, Maurice lowered his head and continued kneeling, saying, "I apologize, Your Majesty, I disturbed you. Please punish me."

Adrian's pupils trembled.

Morris was completely naked, with the same face he remembered: a high nose, thin red lips, short, slightly curly black hair that reached his neck, and deep purple eyes.

He knelt in the corner of the room, lowering his eyes and not daring to look at Adrian's face.

Adrian froze on the bed for a few seconds, then threw off the covers and walked barefoot to the floor, stopping in front of Maurice in no time.

“Maurice…”

Adrian squatted down in front of him, pinching Maurice's chin and lifting it up, his gaze fixed on his neck. The head and neck were still connected, without scars or signs of being cut.

Morris lifted his head following the force of Adrian's hand. A female insect who had made a mistake could not look directly at her master. He clenched his hands tightly, suppressing his emotions and continuing to keep his eyes lowered and remain silent.

Adrian was forced to marry Maurice back then.

Morris is the commander of the Seventh Army of the current empire, with distinguished military achievements and extremely high mental strength. However, his appearance is wild and fierce, and he is bloodthirsty, so almost no male insects are willing to marry him.

This was especially true for Adrian.

He set his sights on the throne early on, with his initial goal being to marry a royal prince in preparation for his future ascension to the throne.

However, during one of the extermination operations against the alien beasts, Maurice suffered an accident that severely damaged his right eye and exacerbated his mental disorder. In order to appease him, the Empire married him off to a male insect of a higher rank.

Adrian is this male insect.

Although he was only a B-level, his mental strength was decent enough to calm Morris's chaotic mental state.

The other males who were his equals or superiors were almost all royalty, backed by prominent families, and had the right to refuse to marry Maurice.

Adrian, however, had no right to refuse the Insect Emperor's orders. Born in the slums, he had struggled for years to gain a foothold on the Imperial Star, and he had no right to refuse the Insect Emperor's orders.

However, Maurice was proud and arrogant. He insisted that he must be the female ruler of the male insects and was unwilling to be in the position of a female servant.

By marrying him, Adrian abandoned any thought of marrying other royal females. These royal princes had no chance of becoming Adrian's concubines, and all the effort Adrian had expended over the years was wasted in an instant.

And all of this is because of Maurice.

Adrian knelt in front of Maurice, who obediently lowered his eyelashes, his lips pursed, showing little emotion.

This female insect has had this dead fish face ever since the day she married him. She has no expression, no emotional fluctuations, and is like a piece of wood.

This was true in daily life, and it was true in bed as well, which infuriated Adrian so much that he wanted to kill him.

Yet this very female insect ultimately joined Adrian in his rebellion. She put Adrian on the throne, but in doing so, she herself was condemned to her death.

He was beheaded by a group of female soldiers a month before Adrian ascended the throne.

Adrian pressed his fingertip against the artery in Maurice's neck; his skin was so dark that the veins were barely visible. Adrian then moved his finger to his throat, feeling the pulse of life within.

Morris had no idea what Adrian was planning. It was their wedding night, and he was prepared to be tormented by Adrian in every way possible.

This male insect petitioned the Insect Emperor seven times in a row, demanding the annulment of the engagement, indicating that his disgust for him had reached its peak.

"Get up, don't kneel." Adrian snapped out of his thoughts and touched Maurice's face with his palm. His skin was cold and stiff from the February air.

Morris's eyelashes trembled slightly. His legs were sore and numb from kneeling on the ground, and he could only barely get up by supporting himself against the wall.

Adrian glanced down at Maurice's bruised and swollen knees and told him to go lie down on the bed first.

Morris hesitated for a moment before slowly lying down on the bed.

Morris dared not touch the bedding on the bed. He turned his head and saw Adrian rummaging through the drawers and cabinets beside him. He then turned over, bent his legs and pressed them down, then buried his head in his arms, frowned and closed his eyes.

What is supposed to come will come.

But male insects have never been known for their stamina, and Morris estimated that Adrian would only last a minute at most. He could grit his teeth and endure that time.

Adrian pulled out his first-aid kit from the bottom of the cabinet.

He's a male insect, so even a minor scratch requires a trip to the vet. His family always keeps these medications on hand, just in case.

But during the time he spent with Maurice later on, Maurice was the one who was more often injured. All the medicine for those injuries was ultimately used on him.

Adrian didn't want to recall those things. He turned around and paused when he saw that Maurice had his back to him.
