Defeat the system! Kiss my little monster!

Chapter 269 Getting the Phone Back

"Really? That's quite a coincidence. I was just about to look for it." Yu Zhuo turned his eyes away, didn't ask any more questions, and stood up.

He casually placed his hand on the back of Zhou Yanshu's wheelchair, glancing at the scene behind him out of the corner of his eye.

The passageway was empty, and because it was close to the cleaners' changing area, few people went near it.

Yu Zhuo did not see any suspicious individuals appear.

Zhou Yanshu had just arrived and hadn't heard Yu Zhuo and Xiao Luan's conversation yet. He asked, "The person you said you were looking for, is it...?"

Before he could finish speaking, he saw Xiao Lu'an through the half-open door. Xiao Lu'an had just put on his work pants, and hadn't had time to change his jacket yet; his shirt was half-open, clearly showing his pale chest and abdomen.

Zhou Yanshu paused in his speech.

Xiao Luan also noticed Zhou Yanshu. He quickly put on his coat and opened the door, greeting Zhou Yanshu somewhat awkwardly: "Earl, hello."

Zhou Yanshu stared at him coldly for a few seconds, then asked in an ambiguous tone, "Are you an Omega?"

“Yes, Earl. I only completed my second differentiation two years ago, but I’m not quite the same as a normal Omega. I’m rather tall…” Xiao Lu’an immediately changed his attitude in front of Zhou Yanshu. He smiled and spoke fluently.

Yu Zhuo smirked and stepped forward, squeezing between the two of them.

“He’s a thief.” Yu Zhuo pointed at Xiao Lu’an. “He’s the one who framed me.”

Xiao Lu'an: "..."

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yanshu's eyes flickered slightly. Before he could answer, Yu Zhuo squatted down again and whispered in his ear, "He has already agreed to help me. I got the items from the auction and I'll show them to you."

Yu Zhuo would never have made such intimate gestures in front of others in the past. His breath brushed against Zhou Yanshu's ear, and Zhou Yanshu glanced at Xiao Luan but did not dodge.

"Is this the loyalty you told me you wanted to prove?" Zhou Yanshu turned his head slightly, his right ear accidentally brushing against Yu Zhuo's lips, but his eyes were fixed on Xiao Luan. "That's too unrealistic."

"This is just the first step; there are many more steps to come." Yu Zhuo smiled silently. "Don't be impatient."

Zhou Yanshu snorted: "I'm not in a hurry."

Xiao Lu'an stared silently at the two people in front of him. He had thought that Zhou Yanshu was being bullied by Yu Zhuo in private, but now the two of them were whispering intimately in front of him, which was completely different from what Xiao Lu'an had imagined.

"You..." Xiao Luan clicked his tongue, "What do you mean?"

Knowing when to stop, Yu Zhuo stood up and said, "I told the Earl about your situation. He said you are very good and have high hopes for you. You must work hard."

Xiao Lu'an: "..."

The two of them were whispering in front of him. Xiao Lu'an wasn't blind; Zhou Yanshu's gaze towards him clearly wanted to tear him apart.

How could this be? Didn't the Earl despise Yu Zhuo?

Under Zhou Yanshu's gaze, Xiao Luan nodded stiffly: "Earl, you can rest assured that I will handle things well. I will not let you down."

The smile on Zhou Yanshu's lips was inexplicably mocking. His expression was calm as he lowered his eyes and hummed in agreement.

"Alright, we have something to do later, so we'll be going now." Yu Zhuo walked behind Zhou Yanshu, pushed the wheelchair, and turned to Xiao Luan, saying, "If I don't see anything within a month, then we'll meet in prison."

Xiao Lu'an's face stiffened. He watched the two figures disappear into the distance, then quickly closed the door and returned to the previous dressing room.

Yu Zhuo pushed the wheelchair along the road. There were few people passing by in this corridor. Yu Zhuo walked further and further away from the road. At a certain corner, he took Zhou Yanshu into an old, unused room.

Zhou Yanshu noticed something was wrong on the way. Looking at the dimness ahead and the increasingly remote route, he wondered, "Yu Zhuo, where are you taking me? This isn't the way back."

“I know.” Yu Zhuo stopped, lowered his eyes, and said, “I’ll add a mark for you.”

Zhou Yanshu said calmly, "I don't need to make up for it now. Besides... have you forgotten? Your level can't be marked on me."

"Take a bite."

Zhou Yanshu: "..."

"Am I your teething toy?"

Yu Zhuo said, "I'll only bite once, it won't hurt. I won't bite tonight."

“Ha…” Zhou Yanshu hadn’t expected Yu Zhuo to have planned so much in private. He covered the back of his neck and said silently, “No.”

"……Why?"

"Then you'll have to think about it yourself. Think about whether you saw anything you shouldn't have seen today." Zhou Yanshu leaned back in his chair. "Hurry up and get out."

Upon hearing this, Yu Zhuo's nerves trembled. A picture of a shameless fish flashed through his mind, instantly sobering him up considerably.

He touched the tip of his nose as if to cover up his mistake, and said, "I didn't do it on purpose, and I didn't expect it either."

Zhou Yanshu smiled but remained silent.

Yu Zhuo secretly regretted it. He felt the weight of his phone in his pocket and could only push Zhou Yanshu outside again: "Forget it, forget it, I won't bite anymore. We'll talk about it when we get back."

Yu Zhuo walked outside into the bright light and called the driver. Before leaving, he thought of something else and told Zhou Yanshu about it.

"I left my keys on the seventh floor, I'll go up and get them."

Zhou Yanshu had just gotten into the car when he heard this, he nodded and said nothing more.

Yu Zhuo closed the car door, looked around to make sure he didn't find anything amiss, and then strode into the hospital.

The elevator went straight to the seventh floor. Yu Zhuo watched the floors change inside, his hand unconsciously tightening around his phone in his pocket.

He hadn't looked at the apps on his phone closely yet, but the pure black heart icon was still there. This app was something he had created using system energy, and its continued existence at least proved that the person who took it had no intention of destroying it.

What was his intention in taking the phone?

The elevator had reached the seventh floor. Yu Zhuo stepped out and headed straight for Li Su's office.

The seventh floor was noisy. Yu Zhuo looked at the group of people in white coats gathered in front of him and reached out to grab one of the nurses.

"What happened?" Yu Zhuo asked.

"Dr. Li collapsed from overwork, and the hospital director is still checking on his condition."

Yu Zhuo was somewhat surprised: "How could this be? Everything was fine just now!"

"We don't know either. But Dr. Li has indeed been staying up all night these past few days because of the tumor. He's getting old, and his body probably can't take it anymore..."

Yu Zhuo frowned. He walked outside the ward and silently observed the situation inside from several people away.

Li Su was dizzy for more than half an hour. Fortunately, he was just overworked and there were no signs of disease in his organs. In the end, he only needed to be put on an IV drip.

Taking advantage of the brief moment when he regained consciousness, Yu Zhuo went in to check on him: "Dr. Li, how are you feeling? Are you feeling better?"

For a moment, Li Su's deep gray pupils were filled with confusion as he looked at Yu Zhuo, as if trying to recall the past: "...Who are you?"
