Defeat the system! Kiss my little monster!

Chapter 20 A Dog's Confession

Pei Du's figure flickered before Sheng Shixian's eyes. Sheng Shixian narrowed his eyes, his thick eyelashes drooping, his pupils automatically tracing the figure of the person in front of him.

Pei Du wasn't strong, but he wasn't thin either. It wasn't noticeable when he wore a loose coat, but now that he had taken off his shirt, Sheng Shixian could see the condition of his upper body.

The skin on his back was pale, and due to years of lack of sunlight and a period of illness, it even appeared somewhat sickly. The vertebrae of his spine were clearly visible, forming an arc in his back, with a distinct line extending to near his waistband before eventually losing its shape.

Seemingly to attract Sheng Shixian's attention, Pei Du deliberately turned to the side while changing his pajamas, subtly revealing the mermaid-like lines of his abdomen to Sheng Shixian's eyes.

Sheng Shixian looked at him calmly, his hands folded over his abdomen, waiting for Pei Du's next move.

Pei Du had already changed into his pajamas. He sat on the edge of the bed, unbuckled his belt, and tried to pull his pants down. Sheng Shixian's gaze was fixed on his waist. Pei Du pulled his pants down a little, just revealing a corner of his underwear, when he suddenly stopped.

Sheng Shixian closed his eyes.

Pei Du turned his head a second or two later. He was silent for a moment, then asked Gouqiechoing, "Was he looking at me just now?"

The man, barely surviving, asked in surprise, "How did you know?"

Pei Du thought to himself, Sheng Shixian's gaze was practically piercing a hole through him, how could he not know?

"Where is he looking at me?" Pei Du buttoned up his shirt.

The phrase "living a life of ignominy" is quite honest: "His yang energy is at its highest, and yours is at its lowest."

Pei Du: "...Why was he looking at me there?"

After pondering for a while, he held up a sign and said, "Maybe it's because that part of you is the most vulnerable and easy to bite."

Pei Du: "..."

He drew the curtains, turned off the lights, and went to a corner far from Sheng Shixian to change into his pajama bottoms.

A rustling sound filled the air. Sheng Shixian opened his eyes in the darkness and looked in the direction where Pei Du was. It was pitch black there, and he couldn't even make out a blurry outline.

Sheng Shixian frowned slightly. He stared at that spot for a long time until Pei Du changed his clothes and climbed into bed, at which point he lowered his gaze.

After getting into bed, Pei Du ignored Sheng Shixian. The shackles on Sheng Shixian's hands were not long, and at most, they could only allow him to reach the edge of Pei Du's bed.

Pei Du chose a spot near the window to sleep, and he asked Gouqie to turn up the brightness of its body so that Pei Du could read and study at night.

The creature, seemingly speechless at its precarious existence, pointed to the bright blue color of the ball and reminded Pei Du, "It's been almost two weeks now, and you haven't found any clues!"

Pei Du pulled out the black book from under the documents and said, "It's only been 60 days out of 365 days, no rush."

"There were sixteen fools who ascended to heaven before you, you know that, right?" The creature, recalling the past, spoke with a melancholy tone, "They said the same thing to you."

Pei Du: "..."

Pei Du opened the book in his hand and looked at the pages by the light from his body, which was still glowing. A few minutes later, he suddenly remembered what had happened before.

"Living a life of ignominy, I think I saw you looking too old today."

"What the hell are you talking about?" (a phrase used to describe someone desperately trying to survive)

“Really.” Pei Du looked at it and told it everything he had seen in the laboratory and how he survived. “It was a sphere about the same size as you. It was white. I thought it was you. I called out to it and it suddenly disappeared.”

Gouqietousheng was startled after hearing this, "...Was that ball really that big?"

“It seems bigger than you.” Pei Du estimated the size of the sphere and gestured roughly with his arm to show its shape. “It’s one or two times bigger than you.”

To eke out a living: "!!!"

The blue light on the creature suddenly turned red, and the data on its sign fluctuated before slowly returning to its original blue after more than ten seconds.

"Hmm...you must have seen it wrong. That white thing is probably the headlight!" After coughing for more than ten seconds, Gouqie Toushi switched its voice to a child's voice again and brainwashed Pei Du, "There is only me, Gouqie, as the ruler of this world."

Pei Du asked suspiciously, "Really? You look quite nervous."

"I'm not nervous! Even though I'm a low-level player, I'm never nervous!" Gouqie Tousi Sheng said, encouraging himself, "I'm also the bravest; I'm never afraid!"

Pei Du: "..."

"You need to speed things up! A year is a long time. You need to find the murderer quickly so I can get a lot more points!" The creature patted Pei Du's head, then spun rapidly, brightening its blue light. "I'll work hard! I'll work hard..."

Pei Du: "..."

What the hell?

What exactly is this "living a life of ignominy"?

Pei Du couldn't figure out the origin of this cowardly survival system. It didn't belong to this world, and its existence was beyond Pei Du's imagination.

Pei Du ignored it. In any case, finding the murderer was the most important thing for him.

Pei Du picked up the black book again, sorted out his previous thoughts, and started reading from where he had broken off.

My first meeting with my master was at a bar in City A.

I had nowhere to go then, and of course, I dared not go anywhere else. I huddled in the alley, listening to the dogs barking on the side street.

They said I could ask Pei Du for help, and that he might help me out of consideration for our past relationship. But how could I ask him? He's always been aloof and arrogant, and I've fallen to this state; I have no desire to use my body to please him.

Pei Du paused, made a mark with his pen, and seemed to realize something.

Using my body... to please him?

I didn't want to see him again, so I worked at a bar for a while afterward. The people there weren't any good either; they forced me to drink, mocked me, and laughed at me for being penniless and worthless overnight.

[It was at this moment that my master approached me. Everyone else was pouring me drinks, but he was the only one who asked if I was cold and if I wanted to rest. His palms were warm, and even his tone was gentle when he held mine.]

[...He's so good to me. He never forces me to do anything dirty or strenuous, he treats me like a precious treasure at home. He says I'm his baby. We'll have our own little home someday, eat together, travel together, and then everything will be alright.]

The following content consisted of the dog's vision of a better future. Pei Du glanced at it and flipped through a few pages.

My master got a promotion. He's now incredibly famous, and many international experts are hiring him to give lectures. I see his news all the time online, and suddenly I feel a bit defeated. My master is a completely different person now, his net worth has skyrocketed, while I'm still a nobody.

My owner has suddenly started to dislike me. I have no money, no skills, I'm useless... He says his dogs are better than me. What should I do? I don't want to be abandoned. Please don't leave me; I have nothing left...

He asked if I was his dog. I looked at him and clutched his sleeve. ...Master, I am your dog.
