Chapter 197 Removing the Bullet
After a moment of silence, he took out a bundle of hemp rope from his own space, barely managing to survive.
Shen Yisui didn't want anything else. He put the rope aside and turned his face back to Cheng Jingyi.
Cheng Jingyi was still unconscious. Shen Yisui roughly estimated when he would wake up and used a fruit knife to cut open the gun muzzle in his chest cavity.
Although Shen Yisui was blind and could not see what was happening, his movements with the knife were still practiced.
Watching from above, he saw Shen Yisui clearly cut open Cheng Jingyi's wound. His movements were swift and precise, avoiding bones and vital blood vessels, and he removed the bullet in less than a minute.
The creature, secretly puzzled, landed beside Shen Yi and deliberately observed his eyes.
Shen Yisui's eyes were open, his pupils were dark and there were no bright spots like those of ordinary people.
He eked out a living and watched him sew up the wound again. It was still the same technique as before. His fingers were long and slender. The thin thread was pulled open in his hand, passing through the skin and flesh of the wound, and finally stitching the two torn pieces of flesh together.
Amazed by his survival, he noted it down and made notes.
*
The whole process lasted nearly an hour and a half.
The six bullets were scattered in different locations, one of which was close to the heart. Shen Yi dealt with the rest of the bullets quickly, but he was more careful with the one near the heart, which took longer, and he didn't hit any other vital areas.
Cheng Jingyi's self-healing ability has also decreased. Shen Yi casually touched the wounds that had just been stitched up, and the wounds remained in their original state without turning into scars.
Shen Yisui withdrew his hand, took out the last bullet, and then wiped the blood off his hands with a rag.
"I didn't realize you knew so much." Having seen everything was over, the cowardly survivor turned around. "You could even pass through such a tiny needle eye; I thought you weren't blind!"
Shen Yi paused in wiping the blood from his palm. He said, "When I was little, my brother taught me how to suture wounds. After practicing a lot, I remembered it."
"Your brother taught you this too? When you were kids... zombies probably hadn't appeared yet, right?" he muttered, secretly taking a penalty kick.
“Hmm.” Shen Yisui didn’t explain further. He casually said, “I can’t see, so I always get hurt from stumbling and falling. That’s what my brother taught me. But he’s dead now.”
The man, barely surviving, patted his head and sighed.
Shen Yisui's expression remained unchanged. He touched the clothes on the floor, shook off the dust, and placed them all next to Cheng Jingyi.
Cheng Jingyi was not fully awake yet, but her fingers were already trembling slightly.
When Shen Yisui dressed him, he sensed the changes in Cheng Jingyi's body. Without saying a word, he took the hemp rope and tied Cheng Jingyi's hands and feet tightly, finally tying a knot that was impossible to untie.
Unfortunately, the price of the gag was too high, exceeding Shen Yisui's budget; otherwise, he would have bought another gag for Cheng Jingyi.
Cheng Jingyi's breathing was so faint it was almost inaudible. Shen Yisui used the last hemp rope to tie him to the bed, then got up and went to another room.
After more than an hour, Shen Yisui's body was starting to give out.
His body was still in a state of semi-death; although the bleeding had stopped, the gunshot wound and the large hole in his chest had not healed. Fortunately, the fact that he was barely alive had given him some energy, so he didn't feel any pain.
"Living a life of ignominy, where is the book you gave me before?" Shen Yisui couldn't find the book and returned to the room where he first woke up.
After examining the area for a while, he said, "It fell under the bed."
Upon hearing the sound, Shen Yi reached under the bed and groped around. His fingertips touched a hard object, which he used to grab the top few pages and pull the book out.
This book is a perk he's been given to survive, and its contents should ideally not be seen by others.
Considering that Shen Yisui was blind, he deliberately converted all the contents of the book into Braille to survive.
Shen Yisui still remembered the explanation of the book by Gouqie Tousi. In any case, the owner of the book was related to his death, and whether Shen Yisui could escape the zombie horde that was about to break out might depend on the book.
Shen Yisui... why are you still alive?
Why...why did you do this to me?
The person who should have gone was clearly you.
Shen Yisui traced the surface of the paper with his fingertips. The outline of the characters on it was slightly different from those on Earth. He stopped when he touched the first line of text.
You're faking it.
You can see... I know you can see! But you're afraid of being found out. Why don't you dare to speak up? Why don't you dare to go? You're afraid...
Shen Yisui's face remained expressionless. His lowered eyelashes obscured most of his pupils, which seemed to be shrouded in a hazy mist, making it impossible to see any light or expression.
You are lying.
Those who lie will be punished by swallowing golden needles.
Shen Yi ran his fingers along the rows of lines, unconsciously furrowing his brow as he kept reminiscing about the past.
...Is he faking it?
Shen Yisui lifted his eyelids; the darkness before him was so intense that he could not see any light.
He couldn't help but find it somewhat amusing.
What was he pretending for?
Several muffled sounds came from the next room, and Shen Yisui immediately collected his thoughts upon hearing them. He closed the book, put it back under the bed, and walked towards the door.
Cheng Jingyi woke up faster than he expected, so it seems his level hadn't dropped to an irreversible level.
"Cheng Jingyi?"
Shen Yi stopped at the doorway of the next room. He didn't go any further, but simply called out to someone inside.
There was a heavy breathing sound in the air, mixed with the cold and damp air that had intruded from outside, which soon disappeared from Shen Yisui's ears.
Shen Yisui knew that Cheng Jingyi was deliberately concealing his presence again. He narrowed his eyes and asked the cowardly man, "Is he still tied up?"
He glanced at the bed inside, barely managing to stay afloat: "He's still tied up, but he doesn't look well."
“Okay.” Shen Yi then walked inside.
He had tied two layers of rope around Cheng Jingyi's body, and all of them were knotted tightly. Unless Cheng Jingyi could bite through the rope in a short time, he had no chance of breaking free of the restraints by brute force.
Cheng Jingyi had stopped struggling. He lay on the bed like a corpse, his whole body stiff and motionless.
His black hair was tangled and wet, clinging to his forehead. His entire face was deathly pale, his lips were cracked and split, and only his eyes still held a sliver of light.
On his way here, Shen Yisui had been sensing Cheng Jingyi's condition. He didn't hear any strange sounds other than Cheng Jingyi's breathing before he pulled out a chair and sat down by the bed.
