Defeat the system! Kiss my little monster!
Chapter 112 Royal Bloodline
"Commander, should we go together?" the female soldier next to him asked.
“No need.” Morris’s fingers touched the cigarette in his pocket. He pressed the base of the cigarette, then released his fingers. “Back to headquarters.”
……
The journey back to the palace wasn't far. The wedding was ultimately held near Sean's palace, also to make it convenient for Sean to travel back and forth to handle matters.
Colin followed the female soldier along the road. He looked ahead, and the high eaves of the main hall were already partially visible in his field of vision.
There's still a chance to escape now. Colin is an S-rank female soldier, and he's confident he can escape from their guard. But once he enters the main hall, the number of guards will double, and Colin will truly have nowhere to run.
But if he were to do such a thing, he would be betraying the hard work he had put in over a decade. His name would no longer be recorded in the military, Sean would not allow Colin to become his servant, and Colin would be forced to live as a fugitive among the Zerg for the rest of his life.
"Commander Colin."
The sound he made was deliberately lowered, and Colin's pure blue eyes trembled as he turned to the side.
After entering the palace, the number of female soldiers guarding Colin gradually decreased. Perhaps out of consideration for his status as a legion commander, only four or five female soldiers remained to follow him in the end.
The female soldier leading the way had somehow walked up to Colin's side. Colin turned his face almost imperceptibly to the side and met a pair of emerald green eyes.
"……It's you?"
Adrian's military cap was pulled low, his eyes slightly curved as he smiled at Colin: "Commander, don't worry, I'm here to help you."
Colin frowned.
He had never had a good impression of Adrian, that male insect. Adrian had a handsome face, but his belly was full of scheming and plotting. Not to mention, Adrian had been entangled with Sean before, and could even be considered Colin's half-love rival.
Colin was skeptical: "Help me?"
"Commander, I don't have much time, I can only say a few words to you." Adrian, taking note of the surrounding situation, whispered to Colin.
"I've already bribed the royal doctor in charge of the testing. Don't be afraid when you have your blood drawn; everything is prepared. He'll use the blood of another female insect instead."
Colin's heart skipped a beat, and he asked cryptically, "You know?"
“Of course,” Adrian said. “Commander, you don’t need to worry.”
Colin's suspicions deepened. Aside from Sean, he had never told any of the other insectoids about his origins in all these years. How did Adrian know?
“I’m not doing this for you.” Adrian’s words were ambiguous.
The female guards outside the main hall had already turned their attention to them. Adrian lowered his head and quickly walked past Colin to the front.
Colin looked away, hesitated for a moment, but then chose to continue forward without making any further moves.
The Insect Emperor's hoarse cough echoed from inside the palace, mingling with the sound of his pure gold cane pounding the ground, each sound striking the female insect's skull.
Colin entered the main hall, where the princes stood on either side. Sean and Arran had arrived earlier and stood on either side, still wearing their formal attire.
Colin glanced up at them, then shifted his gaze to the upper part of the hall.
"Commander, please." The Insect Emperor waved his hand in greeting.
The royal physician, who was waiting nearby, was quite old. He slowly stepped forward with a syringe for drawing blood. The needle of the syringe was long and sharp, its tip gleaming coldly.
Colin glanced to the side and saw Adrian, mingling with the guards, winking at him suggestively.
Colin calmed himself down and extended his wrist in full view of everyone.
The needle pierced the flesh of Colin's hand, causing only a very slight pain, but Colin's expression remained unchanged. A few seconds later, the old doctor removed a vial of blood.
"When can it be detected?" the Insect Emperor asked.
The old doctor bowed and said, "Your Majesty, we still have some of the late Emperor's blood. We can test it now, and the results should be available in about an hour."
The Insect Emperor nodded.
With permission granted, the old doctor took the syringe and went into the adjacent cubicle.
For the next hour, the air was deathly still, and even the faintest sounds could be heard clearly. Colin knelt on one knee inside the hall, and since the Insect Emperor did not allow him to stand up, he could only remain stiff in his original position.
A gentle breeze slipped in from outside the door; the harsh winter had finally receded, and the gradually warming season was slowly creeping in. However, it was ultimately too weak; the chill hidden beneath the ground still crept up Colin's knees.
"Your Majesty, the results are in."
Less than an hour later, about fifty minutes later, the old doctor came out of the inner cubicle with the test results.
All the insects in the hall focused their attention on the elderly yet dignified female insect. The old doctor stepped forward, and a guard handed him the test results.
Colin clenched his fist instinctively, secretly observing the Insect Emperor's expression. The Insect Emperor's cloudy eyes trembled; he put down his cane, his fingers slowly turning the pages of paper containing the data.
A few minutes later, the Insect Emperor suddenly tore the paper in his hand to shreds and threw it down.
"Arrest him! Arrest this wicked creature!"
Colin's expression suddenly changed. He spread his wings and turned to try to escape through the entrance of the hall. The female warriors behind him were prepared. They swarmed forward and used their net-like mental energy to bind Colin tightly.
Colin fell from the sky, his body smashing through the floor of the hall.
"Lock him up in jail!"
The Insect Emperor seemed to be extremely angry; his face was contorted with wrinkles, and he kept pounding the ground with his cane.
Colin felt as if he had fallen into an ice cellar. The scene around him was chaotic. Sean, Arran, the remaining princes... their faces were mixed together, eventually forming the roaring face of the Insect Emperor.
He spotted Adrian standing at the corner among the many female soldiers.
Adrian's eyes were long and narrow, still slightly upturned. He looked at Colin silently for a moment, then looked away as if nothing had happened.
"Adrian—"
Colin bit down hard on the mental chain binding him. The female insect behind him forced his head to wear a suppression ring, and then he was dragged out of the hall.
Upon seeing this, Sean immediately knelt down and said, "Father, I didn't know Colin was of such a nature. This remnant of the previous dynasty should be executed immediately. He deliberately approached me, and I was deceived by him..."
The Insect Emperor was trembling with rage. He coughed incessantly and pointed at Sean, shouting furiously, "He's a close relative of yours, and you still want to marry him live on air! Now the entire Insect race knows about your shameful deeds. You're utterly foolish!"
Sean knelt on the ground, repeatedly admitting his mistake: "Father, I was deceived by him..."
"Get out! Go back and reflect on your actions, and don't let me see you again!"
The Insect Emperor's face was dark and gloomy. His cloudy pupils stared ahead as if he saw some sinister, grinning shadows again. He abruptly threw down and smashed all the utensils on the table, gripping his cane tightly.
"Get out, all of you! Get out!"
The Zerg inside the hall quickly bowed and retreated, and the female warrior, upon hearing the order, withdrew from the corner.
Adrian stood at the very end, glancing back at the palace before leaving. The Insect Emperor, extremely weak, was overwhelmed by the sudden shock and, leaning on his throne, vomited a pool of black blood.
"Your Majesty! Your Majesty...please summon a doctor..."
The figure inside collapsed, and Adrian quietly withdrew his gaze.
