Beijing Colors Lingering

Chapter 4 A good dog doesn't block the way.

Upon seeing the person who arrived, He Zhenzhen stood up abruptly, her voice filled with dissatisfaction: "Qi Mingyuan, we specially came today to celebrate Sui Sui's return to the country, why are you only arriving now? You have no sincerity at all."

Qi Mingyuan looked at Shen Jinsui and Qiao Yunshu and nodded slightly in greeting.

Then, his gaze slowly fell on He Zhenzhen, and he chuckled helplessly, speaking in a nonchalant tone: "Miss He, I just finished work and rushed over here. Isn't that enough sincerity?"

Qi Mingyuan sat down on the sofa opposite the three of them. Seeing this, the waiter filled an empty cup on the table with tea and carefully moved it in front of him.

He Zhenzhen expressed her doubt, muttering, "Are you that busy?"

Qi Mingyuan raised an eyebrow. "Of course, I'm not like you, idle and lazy."

He Zhenzhen immediately retorted, "How am I idle? I'm clearly a freelance novelist, and I even have my own editor!"

"Is writing those kinds of messy novels considered a career?" Qi Mingyuan asked her.

He Zhenzhen sat back down on the sofa and emphasized, "I'm writing a romance novel! If you don't understand, don't talk nonsense."

"Oh."

He Zhenzhen scoffed and muttered, "Then why did you accompany me and Yun Shu to a concert and a photography exhibition just a few days ago?"

Qi Mingyuan slowly explained to her, "It's just that I happened to be free those few days."

Finally, he added one more word: "Stupid."

He Zhenzhen suddenly bristled and roared, "Qi Mingyuan, you're the idiot!"

He Zhenzhen decided to write Qi Mingyuan into her next novel, making him a tragic male supporting character, while the female lead is his unrequited love!

Shen Jinsui and Qiao Yunshu both glanced at the two bickering, already used to this scene; they were a pair of bickering lovers.

He Zhenzhen and Qi Mingyuan have known each other since childhood, and their families even live in the same villa area.

Shen Jinsui, Qiao Yunshu, and He Zhenzhen were junior high school classmates. The three of them were particularly close, and all of them were a year younger than their classmates.

Qi Mingyuan was in the same school as them and was their senior. He often went with He Zhenzhen.

Therefore, Shen Jinsui and Qiao Yunshu naturally both knew Qi Mingyuan.

Shen Jinsui's mother and Qiao Yunshu's mother were best friends for many years, and Qiao Yunshu and He Zhenzhen were not only high school classmates, but also studied at Peking University.

Therefore, even if Shen Jinsui went abroad to study after graduating from junior high school, it would not affect the relationship between the three of them.

Moreover, every year when she returned to Beijing for a long holiday, she would meet up with them, and He Zhenzhen would sometimes invite Qi Mingyuan as well.

They chatted for a while, then went to the restaurant next door.

At this point, the waiters began serving the dishes.

After dinner, they all went home.

Shen Jinsui had just stepped out of the club's main entrance when she heard a voice that made her feel uneasy—

"Sui Sui."

Shen Jinsui glanced disdainfully at the man walking towards her, intending to ignore him and leave directly.

However, Pei Chiyu quickly stepped forward and blocked her path.

Shen Jinsui raised her eyes, expressionless, and calmly said, "Pei Chiyu, a good dog doesn't block the way."

Pei Chiyu seemed not to have heard her words, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he gently asked her, "Sui Sui, are you calmed down yet?"

Shen Jinsui rolled her eyes at him and said in a cold voice, "We broke up a few months ago."

Pei Chiyu gazed at her, his tone seemingly coaxing, "What you heard that day wasn't what I meant. I regretted it as soon as I said it. I can explain it to you."

"No explanation needed, I heard it perfectly clearly."

Pei Chiyu frowned slightly. "Sui Sui, you've really misunderstood."

Shen Jinsui suddenly felt helpless, like talking to a brick wall, and emphasized again, "Pei Chiyu, we've been broken up for months, and you're only saying this now, and there's no need for you to explain to me."

Pei Chiyu's expression flashed with regret, and he quickly said, "Sui Sui, I was busy with an important project of Pei's Group a few months ago, so I didn't have time to come to see you."

"I already said, you don't need to explain to me."

After Shen Jinsui finished speaking, she walked past Pei Chiyu and prepared to move forward.

Pei Chiyu suddenly reached out and grabbed her fair and delicate wrist, his tone somewhat impatient: "Shen Jinsui, have you made enough of a scene? I already said I would explain to you."

Shen Jinsui's delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly, and she shook off his hand with obvious disdain.

The next second, her expression turned icy, and her voice was sharp: "We've already broken up, we have nothing to do with each other anymore, are you deaf?"

Pei Chiyu took a deep breath. What he said that day was actually half true and half false.

His friends all knew that he had gone abroad to pursue a girl and that it had taken him a whole year.

They would tease him every time the topic came up, so he said those things just to save face in front of his friends.

Another reason is that Fu Yueyan was his fiancée arranged by his father. The marriage would only benefit him and would also be a boost to his career.

He hadn't expected that someone would suddenly mention Shen Jinsui that day; he had originally intended to keep it a secret from both sides.

So, he said that at the time, but it was also to reassure Fu Yueyan.

Pei Chiyu could tell that Shen Jinsui's family background was probably not bad, but it was definitely not as good as their Pei family.

After a moment's thought, Pei Chiyu smiled faintly and coaxed, "Sui Sui, I know your family is wealthy, but it's far from enough in the capital. If you continue to be with me, I will do everything in my power to give you everything you want, I promise..."

"Stop." Shen Jinsui suddenly interrupted him, sneered, and questioned him, "Judging from what you're saying, you really want to keep me as a mistress?"

For a few seconds, the air was silent.

Pei Chiyu frowned deeply, his tone tinged with impatience: "Sui Sui, some things don't have to be said so harshly."

Shen Jinsui crossed her arms, wondering why she hadn't realized Pei Chiyu was so trusting before.

She really misjudged the situation.

Thinking of this, Shen Jinsui's beautiful fox-like eyes flashed with disdain, and she sneered sarcastically, "Do you want to keep the red flag flying at home while having colorful flags fluttering outside? Pei Chiyu, I remember you said that you are now in charge of the Pei family. Do you have that right?"

After staring at each other for a long while, Pei Chiyu's face suddenly turned somewhat unpleasant, and the veins on his forehead throbbed a few times, as if someone had exposed his secret thoughts.

He paused for a few seconds, then said firmly, "Sui Sui, I won't give up on you. I was able to win you over in a year before, and I can do it again now."

Shen Jinsui couldn't hold back any longer and cursed him several times in a row—

"roll!"

"Neuropathy!"

"If you're sick, go to the hospital for a checkup and get some medicine. Don't get in my way again, or I'll be very rude to you."

After that, Shen Jinsui ignored Pei Chiyu, quickly walked past him, and went into the restroom on the first floor of the club.

Pei Chiyu stared silently at Shen Jinsui's departing figure, his dark eyes deep and his lips tightly pressed together.

He suddenly felt regret; perhaps he shouldn't have said those words that day.

Shen Jinsui was, after all, the girl he had spent a year pursuing, so he definitely had feelings for her and couldn't bear to part with her.

Yi Hang walked to Pei Chiyu's side, twitched the corner of his mouth, and patted his shoulder. "I clearly reminded you that day, but you still said those things."

Yi Hang initially went abroad with Pei Chiyu a few times out of curiosity, wanting to see the girl his best friend had been pursuing for so long.

Although Yi Hang and Shen Jinsui didn't interact much, it was clear that she was the type of girl who wouldn't go back to an ex, especially after hearing Pei Chiyu say those words.

Pei Chiyu's eyes were as deep as a pool as he slowly uttered a sentence: "Anyway, she will be living in Beijing from now on, and we will meet again eventually. I will never give up on her."

Yi Hang shook his head and slowly said, "Shen Jinsui doesn't seem like the kind of girl who would get entangled with her ex. I can tell that she can take things in stride and let them go easily."

These words pierced his lungs and his heart.

Upon hearing this, Pei Chiyu's pupils contracted sharply, and his thin lips opened and closed several times, but in the end he did not say anything in rebuttal. He simply raised his eyes and glanced at Yi Hang.

Seeing that Pei Chiyu remained silent, Yi Hang asked him again, "Now that you want to win back Shen Jinsui, do you want her to be your girlfriend, or your kept mistress?"

Immediately afterwards, Yi Hang pursed his lips and secretly added in his mind, "Shen Jinsui's family background is not necessarily worse than yours, so how can you be so confident?"

He had just noticed the watch on Shen Jinsui's wrist; it was definitely not a model that an ordinary wealthy family could afford.

How come his good friend has such poor observation skills?
