Quick Transmigration: Finding a Successor for a Sect in JX3
Chapter 105 Illusion
Hongfei and her companions walked forward for a while and came to a small square. The square wasn't very big, only able to hold a couple hundred people. On one side of the square, facing the direction up the mountain, there was a long stone staircase, which appeared to be the path leading up the mountain.
Hong Fei and her group of eight stepped onto the stone steps and headed up the mountain. At first, they were chatting amongst themselves, but somehow, Hong Fei found herself all alone. She called out loudly to Xiao Se and the others, but received no response.
Hongfei, thinking they had reached the front, ran towards the world. But after only a couple of steps, Hongfei tripped and fell. Upon falling, Hongfei found herself back in the world before she had transmigrated into the world of JX3.
The world remained the same. Hong Fei was in her rented room, playing a game on her phone. The game she was playing was called JX3: Wujie.
Hongfei sat up abruptly, looking around at the familiar rented room, the messy desk, and the computer that had accompanied her through countless days and nights—everything seemed both real and unreal. She rubbed her eyes, trying to snap out of this sudden "time travel."
"Is this...is this a dream?" Hong Fei murmured to herself, her heart filled with doubt and confusion. She looked down at her phone, the screen of "JX3: Wujie" still flashing, as if everything she had just experienced was just an adventure within the game.
But the sensation, the loneliness and confusion, were so real that Hongfei couldn't easily dismiss it as a dream. She took a deep breath, trying to calm the turmoil in her heart, and decided to clear her thoughts first.
"If it really was a dream, why did it feel so real? And why did I suddenly return to the real world?" Hong Fei was filled with questions. She tried to recall every detail of the dream, attempting to find a clue.
Just then, a message popped up on my phone screen. It was a private message from my game friend Xiao Se: "Hong Fei, why did you suddenly log off? We're still waiting for you in the dungeon!"
Upon seeing this message, Hongfei felt an indescribable surge of emotion. It felt as if it weren't a dream, but rather her real experience.
"I...I'll be right back," Hong Fei replied quickly, a strong urge welling up inside her. She felt she should go find Xiao Se and the others, but she couldn't remember why.
Hong Fei continued living her life as usual, the memories of that time travel slowly fading from her mind. But a voice in her heart always told her that she shouldn't be living here, that none of this was real.
Hongfei tried to follow the voice in her heart to find proof that this world was a lie. So Hongfei decided to follow the initial prompting in her heart and go find Xiao Se and the others. After several days of travel, Hongfei finally found Xiao Se and the others.
Xiao Se and Wu Xin were dressed in suits and ties, looking like successful people.
But when Hongfei saw them like this, she felt something was off. A voice inside her told her that Xiaose and Wuxin shouldn't be like this. They should be—? Hongfei covered her head. What should they be like? Why couldn't she remember? They should be—? Hongfei tried hard to recall, but it was as if a veil was separating her from her mind, making her always fall short. Why couldn't she remember?
"No! That's not how it is!" Hongfei muttered to herself, clutching her head.
Hongfei could only sense that something was wrong, but couldn't pinpoint what it was. Until, by chance, she stumbled upon a period costume shop and entered. Gently touching each garment, she smiled; she had finally found what was amiss.
Why are Xiao Se and Wu Xin wearing suits and ties? They should be wearing ancient costumes. They're not from modern times, so why are they wearing modern clothes? So this world really is fake! The world begins to crumble in Hong Fei's eyes, turning into countless starlight.
Hong Fei slowly opened her eyes. It turned out that everything she had just experienced was merely an illusion. From the moment she entered this world, Hong Fei had been trapped in this illusion.
Hong Fei looked around and found that Lei Wujie had woken up and was sitting on the steps in front, looking at them listlessly. Li Fansong had also woken up, but he was standing to the side, examining the roadside weeds.
Hong Fei was the third newcomer; the others were still trapped in the illusion. Xiao Se, in particular, was covered in sweat and looked pained.
Hong Fei wanted to help Xiao Se, but found she couldn't touch him at all. It turned out that those who hadn't woken up were surrounded by a protective shield, making them untouchable by outsiders. Having no other option, Hong Fei sat down next to Lei Wujie.
Lei Wujie saw Hong Fei sit down next to him and asked happily, "Hong Fei, what happened to you? Was it fun?"
"Fun? Was what you experienced fun?" Hong Fei asked Lei Wujie.
"Not bad! Pretty good," Lei Wujie said.
Li Fansong then interjected, saying, "Fools sometimes have good fortune."
Hong Fei glanced at Lei Wujie and burst out laughing. Haha~~
Hongfei and I waited for a while, and Wuxin, Xiaose and the others also woke up one after another. The last one to wake up was actually Li Hanyi. As soon as she woke up, Li Hanyi hugged Zhao Yuzhen tightly, trembling uncontrollably. It seemed that her experience in the illusion was not good, but no one deliberately asked her.
The group, now awake, climbed the steps one by one. Finally, they reached the summit, where countless pavilions and towers stood, the main hall magnificent and imposing, with mist swirling around the pools on either side. Lotus blossoms dotted the water, their verdant leaves stretching to the horizon. Flying eaves, carved beams and painted rafters, covered bridges and emerald waters—it was a scene straight out of a fairyland.
Hongfei and her companions arrived at the plaza, where they found a huge stone tablet in the center. The tablet recorded the origins of the mountain and the pavilions and terraces.
This place was once the headquarters of a cultivation sect, but the sect eventually dwindled in number. When the last member of the sect was gone, they activated a protective array, sealing the area and waiting for a destined person to reopen it. By leaving their mark on the stone tablet, one can receive the inheritance and embark on the path of cultivation.
Hongfei and her group were stunned. It turned out that their world hadn't remained unchanged; rather, the changes were quite significant, and they had to find them themselves.
No one could believe that their world had actually evolved a cultivation tradition. Even if it was a low-level one, it was still a qualitative leap.
Aside from Hong Fei, everyone else started using communication devices to spread the word that this place was a place for cultivating immortality, and to arrange for people to come here to receive the inheritance.
However, Snow Moon City received the news the fastest, because Li Hanyi directly had Lei Wujie send a message to Sikong Qianluo, instructing Sikong Qianluo to notify Sikong Changfeng. That's how the information spread so quickly!
