The country entrusted me to buy an aircraft carrier, Hou Liangping, do you dare to investigate?
Chapter 462 Invisible Pressure
Stepping out of the hotel, Huang Feipeng walked along the street, the surrounding lights flickering, seemingly reflecting the struggle within him. He knew that the deeper he went, the more dangerous it would be, but he also knew that the truth would not easily come to light.
"Do you really think we can find any clues?" Xiaoxue couldn't help but ask, her tone a mixture of expectation and fear.
Huang Feipeng stepped out of the hotel. Night fell like a heavy curtain, enveloping the entire city. A sense of urgency surged within him, as if the city's hustle and bustle was irrelevant to him. At that moment, all he wanted was to quickly return to his residence to conduct a more in-depth investigation and uncover the truth behind those unfamiliar phone numbers. He knew that time was of the essence and he had to act as soon as possible.
"Xiaoxue, hurry up!" he urged in a low voice, his eyes searching the street for an empty taxi. An unease crept into his heart: were those men in black still nearby? Would he really be able to get home safely?
"Xiaofei, I'm a little nervous..." Xiaoxue's voice was soft, with a slight tremor. She gripped Feipeng's arm tightly, her eyes darting around as if she were wary of everything around her.
"It's alright, we'll be fine," Fei Peng tried to reassure her, though he himself felt a pang of unease. The taxi lights flickered in the night, illuminating his face and revealing his slightly furrowed brow.
Finally, a taxi pulled up, and Feipeng quickly flagged it down. The door opened, and the driver looked at them suspiciously, as if they were strangers.
"Go to my house, hurry!" Fei Peng said succinctly and forcefully, a hint of anxiety in his voice. He got into the car, holding Xiao Xue's hand tightly, hoping she could feel a sense of security.
The driver glanced back at them, seemingly sensing something amiss in Fei Peng's tense expression, but said nothing and quickly started the car. The car sped away down the street, the neon lights on either side flashing in the night like countless eyes coldly watching the hurried travelers.
Feipeng was filled with unease as he tried to recall the conversation. The unfamiliar voice, cold and ruthless, seemed to hint at a larger conspiracy. Every word struck his heart like a hammer blow, creating an invisible pressure.
"Xiaoxue, that phone call just now reminded me of something," Feipeng said in a low voice, trying to keep his voice calm. "I've received some calls from unknown numbers before, and it might be related to this."
"What did you think of?" Xiaoxue's voice held a hint of expectation as she stared intently at Feipeng, seemingly seeking further explanation from him.
"I remember one number calling from a specific place. It was someone I met at a party. He acted strangely at the time, often bringing up things that were unclear." Fei Peng tried to sort out his thoughts and piece together his memories.
“Then let’s check the records of that number.” A determined look flashed in Xiaoxue’s eyes. “If he is related to this matter, we might be able to find some clues.”
Feipeng nodded, a glimmer of hope igniting within him. Whenever faced with the fear of the unknown, they always found strength in each other. Xiaoxue's encouragement was like a ray of sunshine, dispelling the gloom in his heart.
The car quickly drove past the bustling city center, gradually heading towards the residential area. Fei Peng's heart began to race, his thoughts swirling. Would they be safe once they arrived at their lodgings? Would those men in black be waiting outside? However, he knew that none of this was something he could predict; only by bravely moving forward could he find the truth.
"Do you think we still have a chance?" Xiaoxue suddenly asked, her voice tinged with unease.
"I believe there will always be a way." Fei Peng turned to look at Xiao Xue, his eyes filled with determination. Deep down, although he felt fear and unease, he also had an unwavering resolve to uncover the truth.
The taxi finally stopped in front of Feipeng's place, and Feipeng felt a surge of tension. He hurriedly paid the fare, pulled Xiaoxue out of the car, and tried his best not to appear flustered. His eyes scanned the surroundings, searching for any potential danger.
"Be careful, hurry inside!" Fei Peng urged Xiao Xue in a low voice. They quickly entered the apartment, then closed the door, and only then did the tension in their hearts ease slightly.
In the dimly lit living room, Fei Peng turned on the light, instantly brightening the surroundings. However, his mind wasn't completely at peace; instead, he felt the lurking danger even more acutely. He took a deep breath, forcing himself to gather his thoughts: "Now is not the time for fear; I must find clues."
"Xiaofei, where do you want to start?" Xiaoxue looked around and her gaze fell on Feipeng's desk.
"Check the call log on my phone first." Fei Peng immediately went to his desk and started searching through the call history on his phone. At the same time, the numbers of those calls flashed through his mind; those unfamiliar numbers seemed to be an invisible chain, binding him tightly.
"Is that weird number you were looking for in this number?" Xiaoxue leaned closer, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"I haven't found it yet." Fei Peng looked at the screen, his heart filled with anxiety. He knew that if he couldn't find that clue, he would be in even greater trouble.
"Can we try something else?" Xiaoxue's voice held a hint of expectation; she seemed unwilling to give up.
Fei Peng nodded, then suddenly remembered something: "By the way, at that gathering, that strange person seemed to have mentioned an underground forum, a place specifically for discussing confidential matters. I can try to find more information through that forum."
"That sounds good! Let's check it out right away!" A hint of excitement flashed in Xiaoxue's eyes, and her emotions seemed to rise along with Feipeng's thoughts.
“Okay, let’s turn on the computer first.” Fei Peng immediately walked to the bookshelf and took down the laptop hidden inside. He felt a little nervous, but even more so, he was filled with anticipation. He felt that he finally had a clue that could lead him to the truth.
After turning on the computer, Feipeng quickly connected to the internet, searching for content related to that forum. Each keystroke felt like breaking free from the shackles of darkness. His heart was filled with anticipation and tension, as if he were getting closer and closer to the truth.
"Here it is!" Fei Peng's voice was filled with excitement. He had found a link, the very entrance to that underground forum. An indescribable excitement surged within him, as if he had seen a glimmer of hope again.
