Chapter 424 Finding That Friend
Huang Feipeng felt a sense of urgency. He knew this was a critical moment, and any detail could affect their fate. He looked at Xiaoya; her face showed a mixture of tension and anticipation, as if she were expecting a sudden change. Feipeng pondered to himself, thinking, "If we can find that friend, everything might be reversed."
"Xiaoya, wait a minute, I need to make a call," Feipeng said in a low voice, trying to appear calm. He held his phone in his hand, but his thoughts were already on the friend he was about to contact. This friend had worked at the police station for many years; although his connections were limited, he could at least offer some professional assistance. He silently vowed, "I must contact him, no matter what."
"Okay, I'll wait for you over there." Xiaoya nodded slightly. Although she was still a little uneasy, she hoped that Feipeng could bring some good news.
Feipeng dialed his friend's number, his heart tightening slightly. He knew he was about to embark on an unknown journey, and the hidden dangers within it made him uneasy. He waited quietly, trying to calm his anxiety.
On the other end of the phone, a friend's voice came through, tinged with confusion and curiosity: "Hey, Feipeng? Why are you calling all of a sudden? How have you been lately?"
"I have something urgent I need your help with," Fei Peng said in a low voice, trying to sound calm. He knew his friend shouldn't know about their current danger; too much worry would only cause them more trouble.
"What's wrong?" his friend asked, seemingly noticing Feipeng's nervousness.
"I need you to help me identify some fingerprints and some other possible evidence." Fei Peng tried to be concise and clear, not wanting to put any pressure on his friend.
"Fingerprints? What are you doing?" My friend's tone was slightly surprised. "You need help with something big. I'll do my best to help you, but you have to tell me the truth."
"It's not convenient to say too much right now, but I can tell you that this matter involves a missing persons case." Fei Peng's heart tightened. He knew his friend might be worried, but this was their only chance.
"A missing person case? What are you talking about? What evidence do you have?" My friend's voice was urgent, clearly realizing the seriousness of the situation.
"I'm in a coffee shop right now. I'll send you the address. Can you come over?" Fei Peng said through gritted teeth. He was already imagining how things would take if his friend could arrive in time.
"Okay, I'll try my best to get there, but you have to make sure you stay safe," my friend said before hanging up.
"Feipeng, how did it go?" Xiaoya asked, her eyes filled with anticipation and nervousness as she waited for his answer.
"He'll be here as soon as possible to help us with the fingerprint analysis." Fei Peng tried to keep his voice calm, but inwardly he was thinking, "What if that shadow finds out where we are? What should we do?"
A glimmer of hope flickered in Xiaoya's eyes, but more so with worry. She sighed softly, her voice low: "I hope everything will go smoothly, but I'm really scared."
"Don't worry, everything will be alright." Fei Peng squeezed Xiao Ya's hand, trying to give her a sense of security. But in his heart, he was thinking: they had to leave this coffee shop as soon as possible and find a safer place.
Fei Peng glanced around. Although the café seemed quiet, a sense of unease still lingered in his mind. He whispered to Xiao Ya, "We'd better not stay here too long. Let's leave after our friend arrives."
"But where are we going?" Xiaoya frowned slightly, her eyes showing unease.
“Let’s go to a friend’s house. He has a rather secluded studio that can help us with fingerprint identification.” Fei Peng kept replaying the image of that studio in his mind, secretly hoping that it could bring them some sense of security.
"Are you sure it's safe there?" Xiaoya still seemed hesitant, worried about Feipeng's decision.
"It should be fine. We have no other choice right now." Fei Peng tried to appear resolute, but in his heart he was calculating all the possible dangers.
A short while later, the coffee shop door opened, and Fei Peng looked up to see his friend walking in. His friend was slightly out of breath, as if he had rushed over. He walked towards Fei Peng and Xiao Ya, his eyes filled with concern and confusion.
"What's wrong with you guys?" My friend asked in a low voice after sitting down, glancing around as if to make sure it was safe.
"I need you to help me appraise these things." Fei Peng pushed the diary and photos from the box in front of his friend, thinking to himself, "Could the value of these things exceed our expectations?"
My friend frowned slightly, flipping through the diaries, his expression gradually becoming serious: "This is no small matter. You need to be careful. If this shadow finds out, you may face even greater danger."
“I know, but we must find clues about those missing girls.” Fei Peng’s tone was firm, and despite the pain in his heart, he was unwilling to give up any chance.
“I will help you identify your fingerprints as soon as possible, but it will take time.” After a moment of silence, his tone was serious. “The most important thing for you right now is to protect yourselves and not to do anything rash.”
Feipeng nodded, feeling somewhat uneasy, but he understood that his friend was right. He knew that at this moment, safety was the top priority.
"What should we do next?" Xiaoya's voice trembled slightly, as if she felt a little fear about the upcoming operation.
“We need to find a way to hide and wait for the test results,” Fei Peng said, his thoughts swirling. “I think we can go to my friend’s studio for the time being; it’s less crowded and more secluded.”
“But what if that shadow finds us…” Xiaoya’s voice was weak, and a hint of despair appeared in her eyes.
"I will protect you." Fei Peng's voice became firm, and he secretly vowed that he would never let Xiao Ya get hurt. He felt a strong sense of responsibility burning in his heart, as if pushing him into unknown danger.
They discussed it and decided to leave the café as soon as possible, but Fei Peng's mind was filled with various possibilities. Would they be able to reach their friend's studio safely? And would they be able to find clues about the missing girls?
Time seemed to slow down yet press on at that moment. Fei Peng felt a surge of anxiety, but he had to remain calm. He knew that the road ahead was full of unknown challenges, and only by moving forward could he find hope.
“Let’s go, let’s get ready to go,” Fei Peng said softly, his eyes shining with determination. Xiao Ya nodded slightly, still feeling uneasy, but she was determined to face the challenges ahead with Fei Peng.
