Liu Jianli was about to explain when Old Liu rudely interrupted him: "What are you still talking about! Get out of here! Get as far away as you can! If you dare to reveal even a single word of this to any outsider, I'll kill you!"

Liu Jianli shrank back, not daring to utter another sound. He covered his face and walked away silently.

Old Liu glared fiercely at Liu Jianli's retreating figure, then turned around and quickly followed the ambulance.

Not far away, Ye Feng and Xu San witnessed this entire scene.

The intermittent murmurs around them reached their ears.

"The young couple had a fight... and one of them banged his head against the wall..."

Ye Feng stubbed out his cigarette, his heart heavy.

He recalled the fleeting glimpse of Sun Shangxiang he had just caught—her face pale, her head wrapped in bandages, her fragile appearance. He admired her resolve, yet also felt sorry for her taking this step.

Xu San clicked his tongue twice: "This woman is really ruthless to herself."

Ye Feng didn't reply, he just stood there quietly.

Afterwards, he told Xu San and the others to take a taxi back, while he drove back to Liu Qingyi's house.

It was already past nine o'clock when I got back.

Liu Qingyi was still busy in the living room, holding documents in her hand, her brows furrowed.

"I have to go out for a bit later." Ye Feng took off his coat and casually placed it on the sofa.

Liu Qingyi looked up at the wall clock. "It's so late, where are you going?"

"A colleague is in the hospital, I'm going to visit him," Ye Feng said calmly.

Liu Qingyi paused, thinking of Yang Yunqing: "Should we go see our colleagues, or our old flame?"

Ye Feng knew who she was referring to, and patiently explained, "I've already explained things to Yang Yunqing about what happened last time. Even if we meet again, we'll just be ordinary friends."

Liu Qingyi waved her hand, "No need to explain to me."

After saying that, she took the documents, turned around, and went upstairs, leaving Ye Feng alone in the living room.

Ye Feng then drove to the hospital building. As soon as he turned off the engine, he saw a familiar figure walking out of the hospital gate.

Yang Yunqing?

Ye Feng was stunned.

He instinctively pushed open the car door and got out. "Yun Qing, what are you doing here?"

Yang Yunqing's previously gloomy face lit up the moment she saw Ye Feng. "Is it strange that I'm here? I'm a doctor, in a hospital. Where else would I be?"

Ye Feng then realized, yes, she was a doctor.

He had actually forgotten.

After a moment of silence, Yang Yunqing lowered her head and kicked at the pebbles at her feet. "Actually, I'm fine."

She paused, then lowered her voice, "I didn't feel at ease at home, so I came to work."

Ye Feng looked at her. He knew he couldn't fill the void in her heart.

"Remember to contact me if you need anything," Ye Feng said softly.

Yang Yunqing looked up at him with a complicated expression. "What brings you to the hospital?"

"A colleague of mine was hospitalized, so I came to check on him," Ye Feng replied truthfully.

"Oh." Yang Yunqing breathed a sigh of relief. "Which department? Let me check the ward for you."

Ye Feng gave his department and name, and Yang Yunqing took out her phone to check.

The two walked side by side towards the inpatient department, and Yang Yunqing gradually regained her usual cheerfulness.

"I always feel especially at ease when I'm with you," Yang Yunqing said with a smile, then sighed, "I didn't know how to cherish you before, and now I can only hope that I can find a suitable person to accompany me in the future."

Ye Feng didn't speak, but listened quietly.

He understood that Yang Yunqing's words had a hidden meaning.

Upon arriving at the inpatient department, Ye Feng bought fruit and lilies at the flower shop downstairs.

He came to see Sun Shangxiang, a woman he both admired and felt sorry for.

Ye Feng was worried about being recognized by Lao Liu, but he ultimately decided to go see her anyway.

"Could you check if there's anyone else in the ward besides her?" Ye Feng handed the flowers and fruit to Yang Yunqing. "I'll wait outside for a bit."

Yang Yunqing nodded, took the things, and went into the ward.

Ye Feng stood at the end of the corridor, looking in the direction of the ward, his mind filled with many thoughts.

Soon, Yang Yunqing came out and shook her head. "She's all alone."

Ye Feng then stepped towards the ward.

In the ward, the wind howled in through the window, giving Sun Shangxiang a headache.

She struggled to get out of bed and close the window, but fell back onto the bed helplessly.

The food on the bedside table had gone cold, but she had no appetite at all.

At this time, the door of the ward was pushed open.

Ye Feng came in.

Ye Feng saw Sun Shangxiang struggling to get out of bed and quickly went to help her.

"What are you doing? Lie down right now!"

He closed the window, and the ward immediately became much quieter.

"Thank you," Sun Shangxiang said weakly.

The family member in the next bed was unhappy: "Why close the window? Our patient needs fresh air!"

"We can open it a little to let it breathe, but if the wind is too strong, it will give her a headache," Ye Feng explained.

The other person wanted to say something, but seeing Ye Feng's gaze, they reluctantly shut their mouth.

The ward returned to calm.

Sun Shangxiang looked at Ye Feng, wondering, "Why is he being so good to me?"

Ye Feng noticed the cold food on Sun Shangxiang's bedside table. "You haven't eaten yet?"

Sun Shangxiang shook her head and remained silent.

"I'll go buy you something hot," Ye Feng said, turning and leaving the ward.

He felt a pang of sadness. Sun Shangxiang's condition was worse than he had imagined.

He went downstairs and bought hot porridge and steamed buns, and also filled a kettle with hot water.

Back in the ward, he placed the food on the bedside table: "Eat something first, I'll go get you some hot water."

Sun Shangxiang watched his busy figure, her face deep in thought.

"Take a rest, I'll be right back," Ye Feng said, taking the kettle to the hot water room.

The woman in the next bed, watching this scene, couldn't help but say to Sun Shangxiang, "Your boyfriend is so good to you."

Sun Shangxiang was taken aback, then gave a bitter smile.

Ye Feng's kindness towards her stemmed from pity, not love.

Ye Feng returned quickly, carrying food and soup he had bought from the hospital's cafeteria.

He arranged the food on the bedside table, with a variety of dishes, both meat and vegetables, in a reasonable way, and even thoughtfully raised the headboard for Sun Shangxiang.

He carefully put the rest of the items into the cabinet.

Sun Shangxiang's gaze followed Ye Feng, watching his skillful movements.

"No one has ever been this kind to me in all these years," she murmured to herself.

Ye Feng finished tidying up and turned around to see Sun Shangxiang staring at him blankly. He couldn't help but smile slightly and say, "Eat quickly, it won't taste good if it gets cold."

Sun Shangxiang snapped out of her daze, picked up her chopsticks, and silently began to eat.

The food was delicious and warm; it went down into her stomach and warmed her heart as well.

She ate very attentively, as if savoring the food.

Ye Feng sat on a chair to the side, watching her quietly.

Sun Shangxiang finished eating quickly.

She put down her chopsticks and looked at Ye Feng, feeling enveloped in happiness—a feeling she hadn't experienced in a long time.
