As Sun Zheng looked at the skeletons dug out of the pond, he became increasingly horrified. He knew he was doomed; he was going to lose his official position.

Everyone watched in silence as the officials carried out the five corpses or skeletons of varying sizes. The closest corpse looked to be only five or six years old and appeared to be a boy. The others were presumably also male.

This is absolutely outrageous!

"You beast!" Li slapped him hard across the face.

"How could you do something so beastly?" Li pointed at him and cursed him angrily. "I thought you were just playing around, but who would have thought you could do anything?"

"I'll beat you to death!" Li slapped him several times in a row to vent her anger.

"Sister, sister, I was wrong. You can hit me and scold me as you please. Save me, save me! I didn't mean to. They were just inexperienced and they died so easily." Li Wan hugged her legs and cried wildly, letting her hit and scold her.

Cao Xiangru, who came with her, looked at Li Shi with complicated eyes, without saying a word.

"What else is there to say? Men, take them all away!" Sun Zheng's face was ashen. He ordered his men to take Li and her companion away. Fearing that he would escape, the accompanying officers put shackles on Li Wan and restrained several servants who tried to slip away. They also drove away the crowd of onlookers at the door.

In the courtroom, Liannu and her companion were both in tears, and they recognized Henu among them.

"What else do you have to say?" Sun Zheng slammed the gavel again; he'd been doing this all day.

"I have nothing to say!" Li Wan pleaded with Li Shi while crying all the way, and had probably figured it out and calmly admitted it.

"Why did you kill so many people?" Sun Zheng wanted to say men, but then felt ashamed.

"It's nothing much. I was just playing around at first, but then I lost control and accidentally went a bit too far, and they died. After killing so many, that feeling was just too good..." Li Wan tilted her head, thinking and sighing, unable to resist savoring the memory in a perverse way. After finishing, she shook her head, "You wouldn't understand even if I told you!"

Who the hell needs to understand this?

"Outrageous! You indiscriminate killer, beat him!" Sun Zheng couldn't stand it any longer. How could someone be so arrogant after killing someone!

Several constables, who had long been unable to stand it any longer, rushed forward and dragged him away to be flogged.

Li stood there dumbfounded, no longer daring to plead for mercy.

After twenty strokes of the cane, Li Wan was nearly killed; the constables had practically killed her.

Sun Zheng didn't waste any time and beheaded him after three bites. Once his case was settled, he came to judge Li's crime. This time, surprisingly, Cao Xiangru didn't plead for mercy again.

Li looked at him with a sarcastic expression and said, "I know you won't care about me. Just pass on a message for me, asking Brother Cheng to bring Fang'er to see me. The rest is up to you."

Cao Xiangru nodded. She was just a concubine; it was insignificant. He was just a little regretful.

A lot of people came in, but in the end, quite a few fewer people left.

As Cao Xiangru walked to the door, he saw Wang Feng leading a group of people rushing over to report the case.

Isn't that the guard who played well with Rui-ge'er and the other kids at the banquet? What's he doing here?

"Sir, sir, our child is missing! Please send someone to look for him!"

"Go away! If your child is lost, go find him yourself. This is a government area, who has time to look for your child?" The guards didn't care about any of that. Under the emperor's nose, everyone was an official, and every family had hundreds or thousands of servants. Why would they go to the government to look for someone?

"Fine, if your military patrol institute won't do anything, I'll take it to the Kaifeng Prefecture!" Wang Feng and his group of guards left noisily.

"The child is missing. Could it be one of those kids? What a tragedy! Without adults watching over them, the child is lost." Cao Xiangru shook his head and walked away indifferently.

He had barely left when someone else came to report the crime!

"Sir, I saw three men in black clothes in the corner of West Street. Their arms and legs were broken and they were thrown inside! I'm afraid they're dead, so I've come to report this!"

"What man in black? And he's dead! Oh my god, why are there so many things happening every day!" Sun Zheng had a terrible headache. He sent someone to check again, but then worried that someone might really be dead. He decided to go himself. Remembering the look in Xu Shangguan's eyes when he left, Sun Zheng felt a pang of anxiety. He wondered if he could still hold onto his position.

When I ran to West Street, I saw that there really were three men in black, their hands and feet broken, their mouths stuffed with cloth, huddled in a corner and weeping.

Thankfully, no one died! Sun Zheng was overjoyed and took the men back to his residence. Who could be a good person wearing black in broad daylight? After a few casual questions, these men claimed they were beaten by three children. Nonsense! Children couldn't possibly beat an adult like that! Put them in jail!

The military patrol prison was unusually lively today.

The three thugs looked at the half-dead Li Wan, exchanging bewildered glances. So their masters had been arrested! No wonder they'd been beaten too. Wait, they hadn't even told them they'd been arrested, leaving them to suffer such a horrible beating. Those three kids were actually trained fighters! Sigh, they'd been careless… Even with only their eyes able to move, the three thugs glared angrily at him.

In the evening, Cao Cheng brought Cao Fang to see Li Shi. Surprisingly, Mu Tou also came with his maid.

Cao Fang's attitude towards him softened a bit after he came to visit his mother. The father and son listened to Li Shi's rambling words and learned that she would at most be sentenced to exile. Cao Cheng then took Cao Fang back to try to raise money to redeem her, following her method.

Once everyone left, Madam Li dropped her kind expression and coldly looked at Mu Tou, saying, "What are you doing here? Did you come to laugh at me?"

"Yes, we're here to see you make a fool of yourself, you know that!" Mu Tou smirked, pointing to Li Wan, who was lying unconscious and barely alive in the cell next to him, and said, "You and him, neither of you will escape! You won't live."

"Hmph, I should have killed you back then!" Li looked at him viciously, knowing he wouldn't let her go.

"You actually didn't beg me? You don't really think that after you die, your stupid son and grandson can beat me, huh?" The wooden back was extremely straight. He looked calmly into her eyes and smiled, "Don't worry, I will make them pay for all the suffering I've endured, and let them taste the humiliation they've suffered."

"No...no..." Li suddenly knelt down, gripping the cell door frame and kowtowing desperately, her eyes red with pain as she pleaded with him, "Please, let them go, they don't know anything, Fang'er is innocent."

"Innocent! Who isn't innocent! Wasn't I innocent back then?" Wood roared, as if he was about to shout out all the grievances he had suffered.

“It’s my fault, it’s all my fault for spoiling him so much! I’ll take all the blame, okay? Please, spare the children!” Li kowtowed frantically, the sound of her kowtowing echoing loudly on the wooden threshold.

Seeing that he remained unmoved, Li shouted loudly, "Are you still not satisfied? Li Wan! Li Wan! Wake up!"
