Divorced woman with child travels through time
Chapter 467 Peril in the Bamboo Forest
This whole situation is strange. Wang Erniu frowned. "They can't do it like this. Have you tried going out of the city to fight them? I don't think their fighting strength is very strong?"
"Reporting to the general, not yet. I don't quite understand it. Although our county's military strength has expanded as you instructed, we can only support 5,000 soldiers with the resources of a single county. There are roughly 30,000 soldiers under the city walls. I dare not make any rash moves," Wang Xiaoguang explained in detail.
"You make a good point. Let's wait and see!"
"Yes, General, please wait. They will launch another attack in about an incense stick's time!"
"Alright, let's see what they're up to!" Wang Erniu looked at the well-dressed Japanese tourists opposite him and fell into deep thought.
In a remote, nameless village by the sea, in a bamboo grove on the back hill, there was a dilapidated thatched house with its wooden door slightly ajar. Inside, one could vaguely see a few broken and rickety tables and chairs with missing legs.
An elderly man in his seventies emerged from the bamboo grove, bending over, and with a skill beyond his years, quickly opened the door and entered the room. The door creaked open, its sound particularly jarring in the empty bamboo forest.
"Who's there?" a wary child's voice rang out.
"Don't panic, it's me," the old man quickly replied.
"Grandfather, you're back!" The little boy quickly crawled out from under the bed.
"How is he?" the old man asked in a low voice. The village was full of Japanese people; he had rescued a soldier at the beach yesterday.
Judging from his clothes and appearance, he looked like his son, so he figured he was a Song Dynasty man. The man had been stabbed in the back, and the wound was so deep that the bone was visible. Not knowing the situation, he carried the man into the thatched hut where they usually hunted. He had planned to go to the camp in the city today, but who would have thought that the Japanese would attack?
Fortunately, he was experienced. He took some dry food, grabbed his grandson, and abandoned the main house, hiding in the mountains.
"He's fine, just a little feverish." The little grandson is only seven years old, but he's calm and collected. He holds the small crossbow in his hand with great skill. It's said that General Wang bought this crossbow for his son. His father saw this and somehow got him one too. Now he loves it and carries it around every day, which is a good thing.
"It's good that you're alright. The Japanese looted the village and many people died. You go to sleep first, and your grandfather will watch the door for you." The old man tightened his grip on the axe in his hand.
"Yes, thank you for your hard work, Grandfather." The little grandson obediently bowed, as if to his beloved.
"My dear grandson." The old man patted his head and affectionately patted the man lying down next to him.
The little grandson obediently lay down, clearly tired from hiding all the way.
He had just fallen asleep when the old man heard a rustling sound coming from the bamboo forest. It didn't sound like the wind, but more like the friction of someone passing through the bamboo forest.
The old man cautiously reached the doorway and peered through the crack. He saw two ugly Japanese-looking figures wearing half-open kimonos, their chests exposed, their black hair tangled on their chests, and their feet clad in ill-fitting cloth shoes, which he couldn't tell where they had stolen from. They were walking step by step toward the thatched hut.
The old man was horrified. He rushed to the bedside, covered his grandson's mouth, picked him up from the bed, and stuffed him under the bed.
The grandson woke up instantly. The old man pointed outside with a panicked expression and made a shushing gesture. The grandson nodded and obediently crawled into the bed.
The old man looked at the wounded soldier on the bed again, leaned down and whispered in his ear, "Young brother, I'm sorry, I can't beat them all by myself. I also have a grandson. I only wanted to save his life, but I didn't expect to harm you. Please don't blame me! I hope we can escape this calamity."
As the old man spoke, he covered the boy with straw. After doing all this, he crawled under the bed, his tall body completely shielding his grandson.
He didn't notice at all that when he said those words, the unconscious man's fingers twitched, and his eyes were half-open, on the verge of waking up.
"Squeak! Bang!" The dilapidated wooden door was kicked open again.
"Come dig, male with a Ska?" Two Japanese men rushed in, muttering something. They looked around and then yanked up the straw, revealing the wounded soldier's dark military uniform.
"Baka!" One of the Japanese recognized the wounded soldier as a Song soldier and immediately flew into a rage, raising his sword to strike.
"Zheng!"
At the critical moment, the man on the bed suddenly opened his eyes, his clear black and white eyes filled with hatred. He pulled out a dagger from somewhere, held it horizontally with his right hand to block the Japanese man's long sword. With lightning speed, he turned around, grabbed the Japanese man's long sword with his left hand, and took the opportunity to plunge his right hand into the Japanese man's abdomen with a "thud!"
In the instant he turned and rolled off the bed, he pulled the injured Japanese man over to shield himself from the knife, thus dodging another Japanese man who was now slashing at him with bloodshot eyes.
Taking advantage of a gap, he rolled past the two people who were leaning against the door, panting.
Qi Siliu's young face was covered in sweat. He was breathing heavily, his sword-like eyebrows were raised, and his eyes were fixed on the remaining white-clad Japanese man. He did not back down for a moment, nor did he glance under the bed. The fight just now had aggravated the wound on his back, and it was probably going to burst open again.
"Baka!" The Japanese man yelled and charged forward with his knife.
Qi Siliu's face darkened, he gritted his teeth, and charged forward again despite the pain, shouting, "You Japanese devils, prepare to die!"
"Snap!" It was the Japanese man on the ground who hadn't died yet who threw his long sword at the last moment. Qi Siliu threw away his dagger to deflect the force of the long sword, hooked his legs around another Japanese man who was slashing at him, and pulled hard. The Japanese man lost his balance and fell to the ground, and the long sword slipped from his hand.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Qi Siliu flipped over and engaged in close combat with him.
Blood trickled down the straw on the bed, splattering onto the old man's face beneath it. The old man covered his mouth, watching the fighting figures with pain, unsure whether he should rush out.
Just as I was hesitating, a small figure crawled out from the foot of the bed.
"Hey you Japanese, take this!" The little figure walked along, pointing a small crossbow at the fighting Japanese, making a "biu~" sound.
With a whoosh, the small arrow struck the Japanese man, grazing his face.
"Kuso!" The Japanese man cursed and tried to get up, but Qi Siliu hooked his leg and pinned him down again. He crawled over and, trembling, hooked his arm around the Japanese man's neck.
The Japanese were no pushover either; they grabbed his hand with one hand and struck him in the abdomen with their elbow.
"Ugh!" Qi Si Liu, exhausted, coughed up a mouthful of blood.
"My God!" The old man rushed out, brandishing his axe and waving it from side to side, but he dared not smash it carelessly for fear of accidentally injuring his own people.
In a moment of desperation, seeing the Japanese man's legs sitting on the ground, he swung his axe down with a loud "bang!"
"Ah!!!" The Japanese man screamed in agony, his hand slipped, and his leg bones shattered! He stared at the old man with a ferocious expression, as if he wanted to devour him.
The old man couldn't help but take two steps back, distancing himself from him.
The little man, undeterred, drew closer and closer, shouting at his chest, "Bad guy, die!"
"boom!"
