Only Chen Wenfang knew that it was because she had complained to her that if her business grew bigger in the future, she wouldn't even have a caring person to help her manage the money and keep accounts.

Chen Wenfang continued, “Auntie, from now on you will be in charge of all the money and accounts in this village. I’ve already discussed it with everyone. Yesterday, Uncle Liu Hai mentioned that he was short of manpower. You can handle that. Those of us who have signed contracts can do the more important tasks. You can hire people to do the picking and cleaning work outside. Just renovate the house where you receive the goods in the front and arrange for people to work there. They won’t come to the back. You can also arrange the wages. You know the people here. If you can’t handle it all, you can let Chahua do it. Then you can manage it, and that will be fine.”

Aunt Liu's eyes lit up. "This is a great idea! How did Fang'er get such a clever mind?"

Chen Wenfang smiled and said, "How can you praise someone like that? From now on, Auntie will be my housekeeper. You'd better work hard, Auntie. I'm going to the shop now."

Aunt Liu patted her chest and said, "Don't worry about me, go ahead and do your job."

After Chen Wenfang left with Wang Erniu, Uncle Liu Hai came over and said, "Mother, Steward Liu? Tell me, how much monthly salary does Fang'er give you? Yesterday, Erniu told us that you'll be the steward of our village from now on, so your wages must have increased quite a bit, right?"

Aunt Liu puffed out her chest and said in a deliberately arrogant tone, "Guess?"

"I just couldn't guess it," Uncle Liu Hai said helplessly, "At my age, I'm still playing games with young women."

Aunt Liu cleared her throat. "Come here, I'll tell you quietly, so don't be alarmed."

Uncle Liu Hai said speechlessly, "You think you can scare me?"

Aunt Liu said softly, "Ten taels!"

"What? Taller than me!" Uncle Liu exclaimed, then Aunt Liu promptly covered his mouth, looking at him with an "I knew it" expression.

Uncle Liu chuckled a few times, gave her a thumbs up, and Aunt Liu went off to do her work with a smug look on her face.

Back at Chen's shop, Chen Wenfang went to the backyard to call someone to help Wang Erniu move the goods. As soon as Chen Wenfang went in, Chu Yi said, "Uncle Erniu, an old customer surnamed Xie came looking for you this morning, but left when he saw you weren't there."

Wang Erniu said, "Okay, I'll go find him later." After unloading the goods, Wang Erniu went to Boss Xie's residence.

Mr. Xie smiled and said, "Mr. Wang is here? Well, I have a business friend who wants to do some tea business with you. He asked me to help make the connection. Do you have time? I'll treat you to a simple meal at Chunfeng Restaurant tomorrow."

"Of course, thank you very much." Wang Erniu bowed respectfully.

"Not at all, please be on time for the banquet tomorrow."

"Definitely, definitely." Wang Erniu took his leave.

The next day, Wang Erniu followed instructions and entered the room arranged by Boss Xie. The door was open, and he saw a table of food and wine with three seats. Incense was burning in the room, and the scent was light and pleasant. Boss Xie was not there, so he must have left for a while.

Wang Erniu put down his things and looked around. The private room was quite large, with a curtain separating the two rooms. The bed inside was a little messy, as if someone had slept there and then left. He thought he might as well sit down and wait.

No sooner had Wang Erniu sat down than he heard Xie Laoban talking to a man outside. Wang Erniu stood up, then suddenly felt dizzy. "Oh no, there's something wrong with this incense." He quickly took out the handkerchief Chen Wenfang had given him from his clothes, covered his mouth and nose, and sat down again.

While still somewhat conscious, Wang Erniu pinched his thigh hard and stood up, intending to open the door and call for help.

At that moment, a man appeared behind the bed curtain, dragging a wooden stick as he slowly walked over, saying, "Trying to run away!" He grabbed the stick and smashed it against Wang Erniu's neck, knocking him unconscious. Before collapsing, he heard Boss Xie lead his men around the door to the next room. "Did I go to the wrong room?" These were Wang Erniu's last thoughts.

Yuan Lang tossed aside the wooden stick, clapped his hands, and said to the two other hidden attendants, "Put some medicine in his mouth, carry him to the bed, and then go and call Miss over. Tell her I have a surprise for her." He then touched the man's face and said, "He's not bad looking at all. No wonder Miss likes him. He's quite manly."

The two attendants struggled to lift him onto the bed and forced him to swallow a drug. Yuan Lang bent down and patted Wang Erniu's face, "You old rascal, you're in for a treat. I've given you this excellent aphrodisiac, so you'd better perform well."

"Hurry up, there'll be a good show when Miss arrives." Yuan Lang removed the incense and sat down to elegantly drink his wine.

After finishing his business, one of the attendants went to the Li residence, while the other stood with him.

Wang Erniu soon woke up. He hadn't inhaled much of the drug, so he was only half-conscious, feeling dizzy and unwell, and unable to exert any strength.

Wang Erniu lifted his heavy eyelids and vaguely saw someone sitting at a table eating through the curtain. He realized he had been tricked. He bit his lip hard, and the stinging pain from the broken skin made him more awake. It seemed the pain was working. Wang Erniu tried to turn over, but found that he could only move his hand slightly.

Before long, Li Baozhu arrived outside the door. Yuanlang immediately gave a wink to one of his attendants, who then turned and left.

"Yuanlang, what surprise do you have for me?" Li Baozhu entered the room with a sweet smile and wiggled to sit on his lap.

“Miss, if I am happy with this surprise I have for you, you must grant me one request,” Yuan Lang said, stroking her leg.

"Okay, if it's a real surprise, I promise you. It's rare that you're willing to try to please me." Li Baozhu smiled and kissed him on the cheek.

Yuan Lang was quite pleased and patted her bottom, saying, "Go take a look, there's the person you want on the bed inside!"

"Really?" Upon hearing this, Li Baozhu immediately ran inside. The bed was covered by a quilt, and only a rough human shape could be seen.

Li Baozhu couldn't wait any longer. She took off her outer jacket and skirt, and walked to the bedside wearing only her undergarments. She lifted the quilt and said, "Brother Erniu, I've been waiting for you for so long." There were only a few pillows on the bed.

"Li Sanyuan, what are you doing! Where is he?" Li Baozhu roared, startling Wang Erniu, who was hiding under the bed.

Yuanlang rushed into the room. "Impossible! I've been outside the whole time. He couldn't have escaped. Where did he go?" Seeing the open window, he hurried to the window. "Could he have jumped out the window and run away?" Yuanlang kept talking to himself.

"You! You're really infuriating!" Li Baozhu pointed at him and said, "I don't care, go and bring him back now."

"Don't worry, Miss, let's look for him. Maybe he's hiding in the room." Yuan Lang carefully examined the window. "Not a speck of dust has been touched. I used such a strong medicine; I don't believe he can jump up and run away."

The two searched high and low, turning everything upside down. Li Erniu, under the bed, was nearly frantic, gripping the knife in his hand tighter and tighter. The drug was taking effect, and he was starting to lose his grip.
