Rebirth of a Top Student's Handbook

Chapter 67 Academic underachievers don't deserve to play games

Zhou Min spent a long time researching that night but still couldn't come up with any ideas. After returning from get out of class on the second and third days, she continued to search for information.

"Zhou Min, why do you seem busier than us?" Mao Yating asked, stretching.

These past few days, besides attending classes, she's been constantly leveling up and running dungeons, she's exhausted. Today she had fewer classes, and she finally managed to finish the dungeon. Now she's AFK doing some daily tasks, so she has a moment to stand up and wander around.

"It's not the previous assignment."

"Which one?"

"It's the app from military training," Zhou Min said irritably.

"Didn't you already submit it?" Jiang Fei asked curiously, as she still admired Zhou Min.

Competition students are different from ordinary college entrance exam takers like her. While she was still only learning how to turn a computer on and off correctly, they were already able to write programs.

Thinking about this, Jiang Fei felt a little anxious, because she only found out after classes started that quite a few people in her class had been admitted through special admission programs.

If everyone is at Zhou Min's level, I'll definitely be at the bottom. Thinking this, Jiang Fei silently resolved to spend all her time studying from now on and stop playing games like this.

"It was sent back and I had to rewrite it," Zhou Min replied sullenly.

Upon hearing this, Feng Pinling felt that this was normal. Isn't it normal for a freshman's program to be rejected? It would be absurd if there were no problems.

"Your teacher is so strict! Luckily, I didn't study computer science," Mao Yating said with a grin.

"How's your game going?" Zhou Min was too lazy to continue the conversation with them. Not only did they not empathize, they were also gloating.

"It's alright, but it's too exhausting. Military training and the National Day holiday were okay, but now I have to go to class and do homework. I can barely keep up, and my game level has fallen far behind others," Mao Yating said dejectedly.

After hearing Mao Yating's explanation, Zhou Min felt even more certain that her game cheat was legitimate. These kinds of online games typically have a lot of daily tasks that don't require much skill but can increase experience and level.

So even though it's very time-consuming, many people still insist on finishing it every day.

"I don't plan to continue playing; it's too time-consuming," Jiang Fei stammered, finally revealing her thoughts.

"Ah, why? Weren't we having a great time?" Mao Yating immediately became anxious when she heard that Jiang Fei wasn't going to play the game anymore.

“Yeah, you finally got to level 53, isn’t it a shame to give up?” Feng Pinling chimed in, trying to persuade him.

This is actually why Jiang Fei didn't have the courage to say it. She now regrets playing games with them and feels like she's in a bind.

"I don't have enough time. I haven't been able to prepare for the lessons in the last two days because I was playing games, so I can't keep up with the teacher's pace at all."

"It can't be that bad," Mao Yating pouted.

“You may not be used to university courses right away, but you’ll get used to it,” Feng Pinling comforted her like a caring older sister.

Zhou Min disliked people who knowingly dragged others into doing bad things. Seeing that Jiang Fei was wavering again, she said directly, "If you don't want to play, then don't play. There are so many interesting things to do in college; there's no need to be tied down by games."

"Besides, if you really fail a course and get expelled because of playing games, you'll have to pay the price yourself and regret it later." Zhou Min saw that Mao Yating was about to speak again after she finished speaking, so she added another sentence to shut her up.

Mao Yating was rendered speechless by Zhou Min's words and glanced back at Feng Pinling.

Seeing how serious Zhou Min was, Feng Pinling could only smile and say, "If you're falling behind in your studies, you really should focus more on your studies."

After saying that, Feng Pinling put on her headphones and focused on playing the game. Seeing that Feng Pinling had said that, Mao Yating could only return to her seat dejectedly and continue playing the game.

Jiang Fei smiled gratefully at Zhou Min. Although Zhou Min didn't think there was anything to be grateful for, she understood Jiang Fei's feelings. In the past, she had often been forced to do many things because she couldn't bring herself to do them.

After regaining her senses, Zhou Min finally found inspiration. She had no new ideas for programming and algorithms, but she could add more content.

Previously, the plug-ins I made only had the function of automatically accepting quests and fighting monsters. For some dungeons, team battles, and PvP that required more skill, I still had to operate them manually.

Now Zhou Min simply wants to design a plug-in that doesn't require human operation and can run automatically. It can intelligently identify what to do at each stage, and can even add talent points, buy equipment, and change equipment on its own.

With this in mind, Zhou Min went to the game forum to organize some game information and started writing the program based on the information.

Zhou Min persevered for nearly a month and finally finished writing the program. After finishing it, she reviewed it repeatedly and felt that there should be no flaws.

But Zhou Min thought back to the last time she wrote a program, she felt the same way, and it was criticized by her teacher and classmates as worthless.

Thinking of this, Zhou Min simply downloaded the game again and tested the cheat program. Finding the cheat program too slow, Zhou Min made some minor adjustments, and within a day it reached the server's average level.

Only after the game character reached a normal level did Zhou Min adjust the cheat's parameters to a normal level.

After testing it for an afternoon, Zhou Min found that the plugin ran very smoothly, and then she proudly resubmitted her assignment to Teacher Gong.

Zhou Min thought that after this matter was over, she never wanted to have anything to do with Teacher Gong again. She now completely understood Teacher Gong's cunning and scheming nature.

Time passed quickly as everyone busied themselves, trying to adapt to the pace of university life. Zhou Min and Feng Pinling, having already learned this in their previous lives, found it relatively easier.

Mao Yating, who had been so smug before, was almost in tears. She had received extra tutoring from various teachers since she was a child, and had long been accustomed to the learning model where teachers would break down all the knowledge and then cram it into her.

When she got to university, she discovered that the professors didn't teach much of the material at all, leaving her to learn it on her own. The lectures were also very disjointed, and she couldn't keep up even by flipping through the books, let alone understand them.

Mao Yating felt that the pace of university studies was too fast for her. She had tried her best, but she could only barely understand what she was learning. As for applying what she had learned, were you kidding me?

Mao Yating didn't understand why she, a French major, had to study math and physics. She had stopped studying physics after choosing her major in high school, but now she had to pick it up again in college.

Mao Yating was almost driven to tears by the heavy workload.

Mao Yating, who previously secretly complained about Jiang Fei's lack of intelligence and inability to keep up with his studies, and even blamed the game, has now quietly quit the game as well.

Jiang Fei, having given up sports early, never fell behind in her studies, and being a science student, she always had a strong foundation in mathematics and physics. So, although she also struggled, she was much better than Mao Yating.

The two of them now go to the library every day, and Zhou Min and Feng Pinling are the ones who spend most of their time in the dormitory.

Feng Pinling was clearly in an online relationship, chatting with people in the game every day in a high-pitched voice.

If it weren't for the fact that you have to rush to grab a seat in the library early in the morning, Zhou Min really wouldn't want to be disgusted by her in the dormitory any longer.
