Rebirth of a Top Student's Handbook

Chapter 65 Teacher Gong's Classes Aren't So Easy

The next morning, when Zhou Min walked into the classroom in high spirits, she found that it was a large classroom that could accommodate about 300 people.

Zhou Min quickly found a seat in the front row. Many people entered the classroom one after another, but Zhou Min didn't know most of them.

Because the school uses a college system, accommodation and military training are separate from the classes, so even though Zhou Min joined the class group, she still didn't know most of her classmates.

Because everyone had never met, they all kept a low profile and were very reserved; hardly anyone spoke in the group chat.

This class was "Current Affairs and Politics," a kind of wake-up call for college students. Although Zhou Min found it boring, she still listened attentively to the end.

Zhou Min remembered that in her previous life, this course only had a few sessions, and the submitted assignments were directly graded as part of the final grade.

Many students who did their homework carelessly fell into a big trap. Although Zhou Min didn't know if the same was true at Capital University, that didn't stop her from speculating with the utmost malice.

After Zhou Min listened attentively to the two lessons and confidently arrived at the classroom for the third and fourth lessons, she suddenly saw Teacher Gong standing in front of the podium.

Zhou Min, who had been standing tall and confident, immediately became furtive. She hunched over, lowered her head, covered her face, and quietly walked to the far right corner of the last row of the classroom.

Zhou Min thought she had concealed it well, but little did she know that Teacher Gong had seen through it all.

After all, there aren't many girls in computer science, and Professor Gong teaches the best Turing class in computer science at Capital University. Students who can get into this class are either those who have won gold medals or higher in informatics or mathematics competitions, or those who are top scorers from various regions who have been selected through entrance examinations.

Among the group of boys, Zhou Min stood out. Although there were four other girls in the class besides Zhou Min, their appearance was obviously no match for hers.

This is why, even without looking at Zhou Min, he could tell it was her just by observing the way the boys in the classroom shifted their gazes as soon as Zhou Min entered the classroom.

This is an introductory course for the major, mainly explaining the history of the major's development and its future prospects and directions.

Originally, this was a humanities course, similar to "Current Affairs and Politics." However, because most of the students in the Turing Class had competition experience and were familiar with programming, Professor Gong covered the history, applications, and future prospects of computers in just one class period.

In the second period, Teacher Gong directly opened a program and asked everyone to play a "spot the difference" game.

Zhou Min was originally eager to show off her skills, but after looking at the first few lines of the program, she immediately sensed something was wrong.

Isn't this the plug-in program she sent to Teacher Gong yesterday?

While Zhou Min was still in a daze, Teacher Gong had already started calling on people to answer questions.

"Has anyone figured out what kind of program this is?" To Zhou Min, Teacher Gong's deep voice sounded like a devil.

"I know, this must be a game cheat program." As soon as Teacher Gong finished speaking, someone started to answer.

Zhou Min took a look and recognized the boy; she must have met him during a competition before.

"That's right. Can someone tell me what the shortcomings of this program are?"

Zhou Min sat in her seat with her head down, neck hunched, and ears perked up. She waited for a while, but no one answered. Just as Zhou Min was about to breathe a sigh of relief, Teacher Gong's voice rang out again.

"If no one answers voluntarily, I'll call on someone. Zhang Kun, please tell me what the questions are."

“This sentence is too complicated…” A short-haired boy wearing a black short-sleeved shirt, sitting in the middle of the back row, stood up to answer the question.

Zhou Min listened with a dark face as the boy went on and on about the flaws of the procedure for seven or eight minutes, criticizing it as utterly worthless.

Perhaps Zhou Min's gaze was too intense, for when the boy finished speaking and was about to sit down, he turned his head and glanced at Zhou Min.

Zhang Kun saw that the person looking at him was Zhou Min, and even smiled at her.

Zhou Min finally realized who this was. Zhang Kun, a gold medalist in the national Olympiad in Informatics, was then selected for the national training team and represented China in the International Olympiad in Informatics, where he also won a gold medal.

Zhou Min also participated in the informatics competition. Although she won a gold medal in the national competition, she gave up the informatics training camp and chose to join the mathematics training team because the training time conflicted with the international mathematics competition.

She had bumped into Zhang Kun many times during these competitions and training sessions, and the two had even teamed up together. So when Zhang Kun saw that it was Zhou Min, he smiled.

But Zhou Min wasn't happy at all. When they trained together last year, their levels were about the same. Just because she missed three months of the informatics training camp, did the gap between them become so big?

Zhou Min tried to cheer herself up and reassure herself that although her programming language skills might be lacking, her algorithm was absolutely brilliant.

But before Zhou Min could even feel happy, Teacher Gong continued, "Yang Zixuan, can you add something else? Are there any other questions?"

Upon hearing "Yang Zixuan," Zhou Min's heart skipped a beat.

She knew Yang Zixuan too. Both of them were gold medalists in the National Mathematics League, were selected for the National Mathematics Training Team, and won gold medals in the International Mathematical Olympiad.

If Zhou Min's success is attributed to hard work and vision, then Yang Zixuan's success is undoubtedly due to talent.

Not only is he extremely quick-witted, but he also possesses exceptional mental arithmetic abilities. Forget about photographic memory, Yang Zixuan can memorize large amounts of messy data and information with just a glance.

It was only after meeting him that Zhou Min realized just how big the gap was between herself and a genius.

Sure enough, after Yang Zixuan stood up, he launched into a scathing critique of Zhou Min's previously proud algorithm, calling it utter garbage.

Zhou Min had become completely numb by the end. Giving up in despair, she glared at Yang Zixuan's retreating back. Yang Zixuan glanced back at Zhou Min as he spoke.

After recognizing Zhou Min, he smiled and waved to her, but his mouth never stopped moving throughout the entire process.

Everyone else in the classroom looked at Zhou Min because of Yang Zixuan's actions.

With her hair tied in a ponytail and wearing a white short-sleeved shirt, Zhou Min had fair skin, bright eyes, and white teeth. She was like a spotlight, attracting everyone's attention just by sitting there quietly.

It might be the power of the beautiful woman, or it might be inspired by the two students who came before.

After Yang Zixuan sat down, the classmates started to chime in, and the whole process was criticized by the classmates.

Zhou Min's initial feelings of embarrassment and awkwardness gradually turned into anger. She accepted the problems pointed out by her classmates in the previous meetings.

What were those students saying? It was all just rambling nonsense. Do they even know how to code? They were simply summarizing what others had said, then exaggerating, emphasizing, and repeating it for artistic effect, and then just repeating it again.

Zhou Min thought these were just a bunch of idiots who were good at Chinese language. Had they gone crazy from writing essays?

Gong Yu couldn't help but smirk as he looked at Zhou Min's gritted teeth.

After the last student finished asking his question, Gong Yu saw that no one else was raising their hands, so he directly called on Zhou Min and said, "Zhou Min, you can talk about the advantages of this program."

Zhou Min, who was initially very angry, couldn't help but blush.
