Rebirth of a Top Student's Handbook
Chapter 43 Setting Off to Buy Tickets
When Xu Li and the others arrived, Zhou Min looked up and saw that there were indeed many people.
Xu Li, Zhu Da, Chen Sheng, Xu Lingyuan, Liu Yuanyuan, Li Na, Lin Xin, and Li Liangcheng have all arrived.
"What a coincidence! Are you going to buy train tickets together today?" Zhou Min was taken aback for a moment, then quickly stood up to greet them. Although it had been a long time since they had seen each other, they were all junior high school classmates who had spent many years together, so Zhou Min was still very happy to see them.
“Yes, why don’t you come along too?” Li Na said, sitting down next to Zhou Min.
Li Na and Zhou Min were classmates since kindergarten and remained close friends until they graduated from junior high school.
It wasn't until high school, when Zhou Min entered the Olympiad class at the top high school while Li Na was in a regular class, that the two reduced their contact.
However, because Zhou Min was always participating in various training sessions and competitions, she spent very little time at school. Even Xu Li and Zhu Da, who were in the same class, did not have many opportunities to interact with Zhou Min.
Therefore, everyone still believes that Zhou Min and Li Na have the best relationship, and they all quietly reserved the seat next to Zhou Min for Li Na.
"Okay, how are you planning to go?" Zhou Min still liked Li Na very much. After all, Li Na was the only friend she had grown up with since childhood. Although Li Na was scheming, she hadn't really hurt Zhou Min. And Zhou Min was the kind of person who forgot the pain once the wound healed.
Before being hurt, Zhou Min could only see the good in others. In Zhou Min's eyes, Li Na was a person with high emotional intelligence, who was good at social interaction and made people feel comfortable and relaxed when they were with her.
Zhou Min was extremely envious of Li Na's social skills. She particularly admired Li Na's ability to make everyone around her feel like they were her best friend.
Unlike Zhou Min, who treats making friends like dating, being single-minded and jealous when others have other friends, and feeling betrayed when she has other friends.
So over the years, Zhou Min's only true friend has been Li Na; everyone else is just a playmate. Li Na, on the other hand, has many close friends, but Zhou Min still considers herself Li Na's best friend. Don't ask why; it's just a kind of inexplicable self-confidence.
"Do you have a car? If so, we can drive there." Xu Ligang had just gotten his driver's license and was itching to drive.
"Are you sure you can handle this? There are so many of us, our lives are precious." Zhou Min didn't dare ride in a novice driver's car.
“A man has to be capable. I drove around the county town last time.” Xu Li got even more excited when he heard there was hope.
“But my car isn’t that big, what about the rest of the people?” Zhou Min’s car is a seven-seater SUV, which can’t fit nine people at all.
"Let's squeeze in." Zhu Da had just gotten his driver's license and also wanted to drive.
"Okay, but drive slowly on the road. This car is my dad's treasure. If you scratch it even a little bit, you'll have to stay and wash the dishes to make up for it."
"Okay, I guarantee I'll complete the mission." Xu Li was overjoyed.
"Chen Sheng, have you taken your driving test yet?" Zhou Min asked, noticing that Chen Sheng hadn't said much.
"No." Chen Sheng smiled a little reluctantly. He had also wanted to take the driving test during the summer vacation, but there were too many trivial matters at home. By the time he finished, half of the summer vacation would have passed.
I figured I wouldn't be able to get a driver's license in such a short time, so I didn't register.
In fact, we were in the same class for three years of high school. Although we rarely got together because of competitions and training, Chen Sheng became increasingly indifferent to me, and we were like two complete strangers in class.
Chen Sheng spoke very little during their meeting today. Zhou Min exchanged a few words with him, but when she realized he still had the same attitude, she immediately stopped paying attention to him.
Of the nine people at the table, only Li Liangcheng was studying at a medical university in Seoul; the other eight had all applied to universities in the capital.
Besides Zhou Min and three others who were admitted to Capital University through special admission programs, Li Na was admitted to Capital University of Finance and Economics, Liu Yuanyuan to Capital University of Political Science and Law, Xu Lingyuan to Capital University of Science and Technology, and Lin Xin to Capital Normal University.
Everyone did very well on the exam, much better than Zhou Min remembered.
"I didn't do well on my math test this time. If I had scored a few dozen points higher, I could have been closer to you guys," Li Na complained casually. Actually, this was her best score to date, but she was still not satisfied.
They had similar grades in junior high, but there was such a big difference after entering high school.
"I'm satisfied. I'm lucky that I performed exceptionally well in Chinese and English this time, otherwise I probably wouldn't have been able to get into a top-tier university." Xu Lingyuan was already very satisfied with his score, which barely met the cutoff for a top-tier university, and he was able to get into Capital University of Technology.
Although he was assigned to the chemistry major, it didn't matter to him whether the major was the same or not; university was more important to him.
"I'm satisfied. Luckily, my Chinese and English scores were quite high this time, otherwise I would definitely only be able to get into a second-tier university." Liu Yuanyuan has always been somewhat unbalanced in her subjects. This year, the difficulty of the three subjects in the college entrance examination—mathematics, English, and Chinese—was very high, and the differences in scores were quite large.
Liu Yuanyuan gave up on the last few math problems, since she usually couldn't solve them anyway. Instead, she calmly focused her energy on the earlier problems, ensuring the accuracy of the ones she knew how to do.
Other test takers probably didn't expect the exam to be so difficult. Many students who were good at math lost their composure and performed only so-so.
The Chinese and English exams were also very difficult, and these two subjects happened to be Liu Yuanyuan's strengths. With the score difference between her and others in these two subjects, Liu Yuanyuan was admitted to her dream university.
......
"Alright, it's rare that we're all going to university in the same city. Let's get together often when we have the chance. Li Liangcheng, if you ever come to the capital, you must come visit us too." No matter how much the others complained, Zhou Min felt that everyone had done very well on the exam.
“You guys didn’t see the banner that was hung up at our junior high school. It was even more exaggerated than at high school.” Lin Xin’s father was a teacher at their junior high school, so she knew a lot about the junior high school.
"We even gave a lecture to our juniors during our break," Xu Li quickly added.
"Really? Why didn't you call me?" Zhou Min was a little surprised.
“You were still competing outside at that time,” Li Na said, rolling her eyes at Zhou Min.
Li Na has this ability to make people feel close to her through these subtle gestures of disdain and吐槽 (tu cao, meaning to criticize or complain).
Zhou Min once tried to learn, but her attempt backfired, making others think she was truly disgusted by her and that they were gossiping about her behind her back.
After having lunch and resting for a while, the group prepared to set off.
Zhou Min originally wanted to sit in the front passenger seat, but Zhu Da was quite overweight, and if he sat in the back, it would probably be very cramped.
Zhou Min had no choice but to give up the passenger seat for Zhu Da, and when she got to the back, she squeezed into the middle row with the other three girls.
Xu Li's driving skills did not disappoint Zhou Min. He started with three nods and even stalled the engine at a traffic light.
No matter how loudly the car behind him honked, Xu Li couldn't start the engine.
"Don't be nervous, just start it as usual." Zhou Min comforted Xu Li, telling him to take his time, but she was very anxious inside. She was really worried that they would attract the traffic police and find out that they were overloaded.
Xu Li fumbled around for a while before finally restarting the car. After the car behind them passed the traffic light, it deliberately caught up and drove alongside them. The car even rolled down its window and spat at Xu Li, making Zhou Min and the others extremely disgusted.
Seeing that Xu Li was about to get angry, Zhou Min quickly stopped him, saying, "Don't be angry, all new drivers are like this. You'll get used to it after a few more times."
Zhou Min was genuinely afraid that Xu Li was also a road rage sufferer, and that the lives of everyone in their car might be lost there.
