Rebirth of a Top Student's Handbook

Chapter 25 Accompanying Reading

In the past, Zhou Min would never hide anything, so we didn't need to specifically inquire about her information to know everything. But recently, although Zhou Min hasn't been hiding anything, she has obviously been talking less, so they no longer know a lot of her more private information.

This time, because Zhou Min didn't come to collect her exam papers, all the papers and report cards were collected by her father from the homeroom teacher beforehand. Considering Zhou Min's performance in each subject exam later in the semester, her classmates still care a lot about her grades, after all, Zhou Min is likely to be a strong competitor.

"I really don't know. I also want to know how many points I got. The teacher will find out when he comes, right?" Lin Xin had no choice but to give up when he saw Zhou Min say that.

The morning reading session was spent with Zhou Min memorizing vocabulary. After class, Li Na came over and asked, "Zhou Min, are you alright? Your father has come to our house looking for you several times."

"It's nothing, I just had a fight with my mom and went out to clear my head."

"Oh, where did you go? I saw you people looking for you for a long time," Li Na asked with concern.

"I didn't go anywhere, just wandered around, and came back when I ran out of money," Zhou Min replied perfunctorily. Throughout her life, Zhou Min had been very careful not to make the mistake of speaking too intimately with casual acquaintances.

"Oh, by the way, what score did you get on your last final exam?" Li Na asked casually, holding Zhou Min's pencil case.

"I don't know. You know I wasn't home during that time, and when I came back I forgot about my report card."

"You're really amazing."

"How many points did you get?" Zhou Min asked casually.

"Not much, I didn't do well on the test." After saying that, Li Na made an excuse and left. It's always like this. Li Na never tells herself how many points she scored. Even when she's pressed, she'll only say, "A little more than you." "A few dozen points less than you" is a particularly roundabout answer.

After classes officially started, the teacher, worried that the students might lose focus after the winter break, went over the previous semester's final exam in detail. Because Lin Xin refused to share an exam with Zhou Min, Zhou Min had to pick up her own collection of wrong answers and continue reviewing the areas where she tended to make careless mistakes.

After school, Zhou Min quickly walked out of the school gate and, sure enough, saw her father. While having lunch with Zhou Min, her father told her that he had looked at all the places in the area that morning, but none of them were satisfactory. Even the single rooms involved sharing the living room, kitchen, and bathroom with others, and because landlords didn't really screen tenants, the residents were a mixed bunch. So, he rented a two-bedroom, one-living room, one-kitchen, one-bathroom apartment not far from the school.

Zhou Min looked up in surprise upon hearing this, but then she thought about how her father had always been the kind of person who only considered his own satisfaction and not the price. If you didn't know better, you would think he was incredibly wealthy.

"How much does it cost per year?" Zhou Min thought for a moment and then asked.

"It'll cost 450 yuan to rent it until your high school entrance exam," said Zhou's father, looking very pleased with himself.

Zhou Min really wanted to tell her father that her dormitory fee for a semester was only 50 yuan, and 450 yuan would be enough for her to find several single rooms. However, she decided against it, knowing that her father would face a storm of anger from her mother if he went back.

However, Zhou Min was wrong this time. After lunch, when Zhou's father went back and told Zhou's mother, Zhou's mother immediately expressed her support. She said that when she was not busy at home, she would go to town to take care of Zhou Min.

So in the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Zhou not only brought all of Mrs. Zhou and Zhou Min's daily necessities, but also went outside to buy some small parts. After all, the house had plenty of large items, so it was basically move-in ready; otherwise, it wouldn't have been so expensive.

As soon as Zhou Min finished her evening self-study and stepped out of the gate, she saw her father, who led her back to their residence. Zhou Min went inside and saw that the room was fully furnished with everything from furniture to appliances, and everything was relatively new, so the high price was justified.

At this moment, Zhou's mother brought over a glass of milk and handed it to Zhou Min, saying, "I see other children drinking milk every day. You should drink it too, but you must study hard and make your father and me proud."

"Okay." Zhou Min took the milk and drank it. Having gotten used to drinking milk, Zhou Min thought to herself that she should start drinking milk early in the future so that she could grow taller. Zhou Min's height was her biggest worry. She had been 162cm tall since the second year of junior high school and had not grown another centimeter since.

When Zhou Min returned to her room, she saw that she had brought all her clothes and other personal items, but she hadn't brought most of her books. After washing up, Zhou Min said to her father, "Dad, could you please bring the books from home tomorrow?"

"You have so many books at home, do you want them all?"

"Could you bring all the books from my desk over here?" The desk was covered with Zhou Min's junior high school textbooks and materials.

"Oh right, you still have my exam papers and report card from last semester, right?" Zhou Min continued, thinking about what happened in class today.

"Yes, I forgot today. I'll get it for you when I get home tomorrow."

Zhou Min chatted for a while and then went back to her room to sleep. It was definitely much better than resting in the dormitory.

The next day, after breakfast, Zhou Min arrived at the classroom and found that almost everyone was still absent. She then took out her English textbook and began reciting the text. Xu Lingyuan tried to speak to Zhou Min several times, but she ignored him each time. Xu Lingyuan probably didn't expect Zhou Min to be so temperamental.

After a busy winter break, Zhou Min has lost a lot of weight. Even though she's still wearing her baggy school uniform, she looks even more radiant now.

Considering Zhou Min's bad temper, Xu Lingyuan could only grit his teeth helplessly. The morning's classes were basically still about going over the test papers. The teacher tried hard to use the final exam papers to wake everyone up to studying and to recall the knowledge learned in the previous semester.

When Zhou Min got home at noon and saw her exam papers, she realized that she had actually done quite well last semester. She hadn't expected to get full marks in four subjects: math, English, physics, and chemistry. Although she only scored 123 in Chinese, the main reason for the deductions was her essay. To be honest, Zhou Min had never trusted the school's teachers' taste in essays. As for politics and history, although she only scored 41 and 44 respectively, it was still a significant improvement compared to before.

Zhou Min was very satisfied with her grades. Thinking of Lin Xin's arrogant manner, Zhou Min was particularly curious to see how she would react when she found out her score.

After lunch break, they arrived at the classroom. The first class was math, and they went over the test again. Zhou Min took out her math test, and Lin Xin glanced at the score and was immediately stunned. This math test was quite difficult, and Lin Xin thought his 138 was already a very high score. Seeing that Zhou Min had gotten a perfect score, Lin Xin was very unwilling to accept it, but considering Zhou Min's consistently good math grades, he could only reluctantly admit defeat.

After class, Lin Xin snatched Zhou Min's math test paper and handed it to Xu Lingyuan, saying, "Here you go, Zhou Min's math test paper."

Xu Lingyuan glanced at the score and immediately took the opportunity to get closer to Zhou Min: "Wow, Zhou Min, you got a perfect score, that's really great."
