Rebirth of a Top Student's Handbook

Chapter 104 The Client Comes to the Door

When Zhou Min arrived at the hospital, she did not see Teacher Gong or Zhang Kun.

The hospital bed was empty. On the bedside table was a bowl of white rice porridge with distinct layers, and a plate with two cold steamed buns and a few grayish side dishes.

It looked unappetizing, and it seemed that Teacher Gong hadn't touched the food.

Zhou Min was glad that she had gone to the porridge shop before coming here. Sure enough, the early bird catches the worm.

When Gong Yu came out of the bathroom, he saw Zhou Min pulling up the small table on his hospital bed and putting porridge on it.

Gong Yu, who never ate in bed, quickly exclaimed, "You can put it on the bedside table."

Zhou Min originally wanted to put it on the bedside table, but looking at the things on it, she felt at a loss.

However, now that Teacher Gong has said so, Zhou Min can only step forward, put away the breakfast delivered by the hospital, and put the breakfast she brought on top.

Gong Yu felt a little embarrassed watching Zhou Min bustling around. His original intention was simply not to eat in bed, but now it seemed like he was ordering Zhou Min around.

After Zhou Min tidied the table, she saw that Teacher Gong was still standing to the side, so she quickly called out, "Teacher Gong, come and eat!"

Looking at Zhou Min's bright smile, Gong Yu was momentarily speechless.

Seeing that Teacher Gong had only stared at the porridge in front of him after sitting down and hadn't touched it, Zhou Min suddenly realized that Teacher Gong's right hand was injured and he couldn't eat now.

No wonder I didn't eat breakfast! It turns out my hand was crippled and I couldn't eat, not that I was complaining about the food!

Zhou Min took the initiative to step forward, picked up the disposable spoon that the seller had given her, and said, "Teacher Gong, your hands are not in a convenient position, let me feed you!"

As Zhou Min was about to scoop up some rice, Teacher Gong quickly snatched the spoon from her hand with her left hand, saying with a dark face, "I'll eat it myself!"

Looking at Teacher Gong's steady left hand as she scooped the food, Zhou Min thought with disappointment: It seems my chance to shine today is gone.

Zhou Min glanced at the time; it was already 8:30. Why hadn't Zhang Kun arrived yet? Wasn't he usually the most eager to show up?

Zhou Min secretly thought that perhaps Zhang Kun was too excited last night and couldn't get up today.

While Zhou Min was thinking, her eyes remained fixed on Teacher Gong. She appeared very focused, but in reality, her mind was completely blank.

Unfortunately, Gong Yu was unaware of this situation; he only felt uncomfortable being watched while eating.

After finishing the meal in a dull and tasteless manner, Gong Yu began to clean up the table herself.

When Zhou Min came to her senses, what she saw was Teacher Gong using her only remaining left hand to tidy up the table with unwavering determination.

Looking at Teacher Gong's orderly steps, Zhou Min realized that she had really worried too much yesterday. Injuring one hand didn't affect anything at all.

After tidying up the bedside table, Teacher Gong pushed it back against the wall with one hand.

While he was pushing the bedside table, Zhou Min quickly picked up the trash in the room and went out to throw it away.

When Zhou Min returned to the ward after throwing away the trash, she saw that Teacher Gong was already sitting upright on the hospital bed and working, without even noticing Zhou Min coming in.

Zhou Min was caught in a dilemma, unsure whether to stay or leave, and was momentarily at a loss. At that moment, she desperately hoped that Zhang Kun would arrive soon.

Unfortunately, to her disappointment, Zhang Kun did not appear after waiting for a long time. Bored, Zhou Min looked at a book on the bedside table and simply picked it up to read.

Zhou Min originally just wanted to use it to pass the time, but she didn't expect the book to be so good that she became engrossed in it.

It wasn't until a group of people noisily rushed into the ward that Zhou Min and Gong Yu came to their senses.

"Hey, wait a minute!"

When Zhou Min saw the nurse from yesterday, she couldn't stop this group of people no matter how many times she tried, and she couldn't help but feel nervous.

Zhou Min glanced at Teacher Gong and noticed that he had also closed his laptop and his face had darkened.

The group consisted of about a dozen people, young and old. An older woman entered and immediately knelt beside the hospital bed, crying, "Teacher, I beg you, my son was just temporarily bewitched, please let him go..."

Seeing that Teacher Gong had a sullen face and was not saying a word, Zhou Min roughly guessed that these people must be relatives of the people who injured Teacher Gong.

Looking at the crying old man on the ground, Zhou Min felt inexplicably irritated. It was clearly his son's fault, so why was he asking the victim for forgiveness?

Zhou Min felt no less disgust for those who forced victims to sign letters of forgiveness than for the perpetrators.

So although Zhou Min felt it was inappropriate to make someone so old kneel, she didn't want to reach out and help her up.

I'm even more worried that my actions will cause trouble for Teacher Gong.

"Grandma, Grandma, please get up. It's all my fault, it's all my fault..."

A young man in the crowd knelt down next to the old man, supporting him while crying and slapping himself in the face.

"Xiaoyang, this isn't your fault, sob sob..."

Two middle-aged women squeezed through the crowd and grabbed the young man from both sides.

The people who accompanied the patient were also on the verge of tears, and for a moment the entire ward was filled with a sorrowful atmosphere.

Zhou Min looked up and peered through the crowd. She saw a large number of people standing outside the ward, including patients and their families from the next ward, as well as several nurses.

These people were all looking at Teacher Gong and Zhou Min in the ward with disapproving eyes, and some of them were talking so loudly that everyone present could hear them.

"The person on the bed is a teacher. I guess a student offended him, and his family came to plead for him!"

"At such an advanced age, kneeling on the ground, this teacher didn't even bother to help him up. He's truly heartless!"

"Teachers these days...tsk tsk...they're all so arrogant!"

"They don't even understand respecting the elderly and caring for the young, and they call themselves teachers! I would never let a teacher like that teach my child; they'd be misleading the youth..."

.......

Hearing the unrestrained chatter outside the door, Zhou Min felt her anger rising ever higher.

These people don't even know what happened, so what right do they have to point fingers?

"You still don't dare to let Teacher Gong teach you?" Zhou Min wanted to ask the middle-aged woman who said that, "Is your child worthy?"

Maybe their own lives are a complete mess! Yet they all act like saints and sages, spreading the truth.

Seeing the way these people were pointing and whispering, Zhou Min couldn't help but shout, "Your son committed a crime with a knife, this is a criminal case, go find the police! What's the use of coming to us teachers?"
