Pei Mansion

Pei Suisui lay on the bed, staring blankly at the gauze curtains above her head.

Having already regained consciousness, she was strictly forbidden by her sister from getting out of bed. Bored out of her mind, and to make matters worse, Aru wasn't beside her.

A squeak

The door was pushed open.

Pei Nanyue led A Meng slowly into the house, where she met Pei Suisui's gaze.

Pei Suisui subconsciously shrank her neck. She always did this whenever she saw her older sister. When she made a mistake as a child, she would hide behind her father to avoid her sister's bamboo cane.

Ironically, after beating her during the day, her older sister would come to apply medicine to her at night. Sometimes, when she saw that she had hit her too hard, she would feel sorry for her and shed a few tears.

“Sister.” Pei Suisui looked at her sister sitting on the couch in front of her, her face full of fatigue, probably worried about her.

"Drink this medicine. It was prescribed by Thirteen and the others." Pei Nanyue's expression was somewhat unclear as she pointed to the porcelain bowl in A Meng's hand.

A-Meng brought the medicine to Pei Sui-Sui's side and carefully helped her sit up.

Pei Suisui frowned subconsciously as she looked at the dark, murky liquid.

"This medicine looks creepy, can I not drink it?" She pleaded with Pei Nanyue, but seeing her sister's unyielding expression, she had no choice but to obediently pick up the medicine bowl.

"This prescription was specially written by Thirteen after he sent someone to examine you." Pei Nanyue ultimately trusted Thirteen, and even felt that Thirteen was no less capable than the imperial physicians in the palace.

Therefore, she also decocted and took two doses of medicine every day. The imperial physician deliberately had the servants in the mansion decoct and deliver the medicine, while she personally oversaw the decoction of Thirteen's prescription.

She frowned as she drank it, but it wasn't as bad as she had imagined; it even had a slightly sweet aftertaste.

After drinking the medicine, Pei Suisui wiped the medicine from the corner of her mouth with a handkerchief and said...

"Why is this medicine so sweet? Sister, you're not going to tell me that I'm afraid of drinking bitter medicine, are you?"

Pei Nanyue chuckled twice as she looked at her younger sister's still somewhat wrinkled face.

“I didn’t say that. I’m afraid she already guessed that you don’t like bitter medicine, otherwise why would she personally prepare the prescription for you?” Pei Nanyue glanced at the medicine bowl, which had been completely emptied.

It seems that Thirteen was thoughtful, knowing that his younger sister didn't like drinking bitter medicine.

"Where is she? Could she still be in the Fourth Princess's hands?"

"In the dungeon of Dali Temple, Zhou Jinghuai sent someone to change her to a better cell. Apart from not having freedom, everything is fine." Pei Nanyue noticed that her sister's clothes were also stained with some medicine, so she quickly took the handkerchief and wiped it clean for her.

"What will happen to her? Will she be punished by the Emperor?" Pei Suisui asked hesitantly. She knew that the Fourth Princess was ruthless and would not let Thirteen off easily.

Unfortunately, the emperor doted on the fourth princess the most.

"Your Majesty is wise..." Pei Nanyue began to speak, but the words caught in her throat, and she couldn't get them out.

What wisdom? It's all just empty words.

She looked up and saw her sister's questioning look, and quickly said...

"His Majesty is wise and will surely see through the truth and give Mr. Thirteen justice." Although Pei Nanyue felt that the Emperor would not let Thirteen off the hook, comforting her sister and helping her recover as soon as possible was the most important thing right now, so she could only coax her for the time being.

Seemingly persuaded by Pei Nanyue, Pei Suisui nodded blankly.

"His Majesty is so wise, he wouldn't be fooled by the Fourth Princess!"

"Be careful what you say, Sui Sui!"

Pei Nanyue quickly covered her lips with a handkerchief, even though they were all family in their Pei family.

But nothing stays hidden forever; some things should be said, and some things shouldn't be said. Especially not speaking ill of the monarch, which could cost you your head.

Pei Suisui realized she had been too talkative and quickly stuck her tongue out at her sister.

"But didn't the Emperor punish the Fourth Princess?"

"He's been punished." Pei Nanyue's eyes were filled with a turbulent emotion, making it difficult to discern her feelings.

"What kind of punishment will she be given?" Pei Suisui was somewhat looking forward to the Fourth Princess being punished, after all, all her injuries were thanks to her. Not to mention how painful it was, just being kept indoors for months was already unbearable enough.

Pei Nanyue looked at her younger sister's expectant eyes, then looked away hesitantly and said...

"The Fourth Princess has been punished by being confined to her quarters. His Majesty said he lost his temper in the palace and wants to marry her off to Helian Nash, the Khan of the Western Regions." A trace of sadness flashed across Pei Nanyue's face, though it was fleeting, it was still caught by Pei Suisui.

“Sister…” Pei Suisui grasped her hand, not expecting it to be so cold.

How could she not know that her sister would be saddened by this?

Helian Nash was raised in their household as a hostage from the Western Regions when he was a child.

Although she was a few years younger than her sister, she could tell from childhood that her sister and Helian Nash had a close relationship.

But her and his identity

One is the future Khan of the Western Regions, the other is the daughter of the Prime Minister of Nanyang. The difference between them is not only a vast disparity in social status, but also a deep-seated hatred and national grudges.

Although the Western Regions are currently subjugated by Nanyang, the Southern Barbarians have always been restless and intend to provoke another war between the Three Kingdoms.

Her sister and her brother Helian could never be together!

Thinking of this, Pei Suisui quickly composed herself and spoke softly.

"Sister, why don't you tell me about what happened while I was unconscious these past few days? By the way, why haven't I seen Aru?"

“Aru?” Pei Nanyue was slightly taken aback. She glanced at Ameng standing to the side.

Ah Meng hurriedly explained

“Sister Aru also suffered some minor injuries. The eldest young lady was worried that she wouldn’t be able to take good care of the second young lady if she got injured, so she told her to recover before she could come back to serve the second young lady.”

A Meng was extremely grateful to Pei Nan Yue.

After all, if it weren't for her protection, Aru's injuries would likely have become chronic.

When Aru was released from the woodshed, the eldest young lady told her to take good care of her injuries, mainly because she was afraid that the second young lady would feel guilty and heartbroken if she saw Aru's injuries.

"Is that so? Is she seriously injured?" Pei Suisui recalled being thrown off the cliff and not having time to react. Fortunately, she was stopped by the dense tree branches.

According to the servants in the manor, when Zhou Jinghuai found her on the cliff, she was hanging from a tree branch.

If the Fourth Princess dared to treat herself so harshly, I'm afraid Aru on the cliff isn't having an easy time either.

"They're just superficial injuries. The Fourth Princess didn't do anything to her, so don't worry," Pei Nanyue gently comforted her, tenderly touching her sister's face.

Pei Suisui also had several abrasions on her face. Fortunately, the wounds were not deep. Otherwise, if her younger sister, who always loved beauty, had been disfigured, she would have had to settle accounts with the Fourth Princess.

"That's good. Sister, can you go and bring her some medicine for me? If you don't want to, you can have Ameng go instead." Pei Suisui raised her little face and glanced at Ameng.

Pei Nanyue chuckled, "What, is my sister so unforgiving in your eyes? I already arranged for A-Meng to take the palace physician to see her! You should focus on healing your injuries first!"

She couldn't help but shake her head, looking at her younger sister with a hint of helplessness.

Pei Suisui is like that; she always only cares about others and never thinks about herself.

Of all these people, she was the one who was most seriously injured.

"By the way, sister, I heard that the Third Prince has been betrothed?"
